Before I read the comments I said this was a song dedicated to the greatest saxophone player John Coltrane. These 3 musicians are some of the greatest jazz musicians to ever pick up their instruments.
Like the music or not, the musicianship is phenomenal. Two fretless instruments at the opposite ends of the spectrum, in tune(!), an acoustic guitar, and at a much faster tempo than the original. Wow.

The Rite of Strings one of my fav acoustic albums... the next album of the trio 'D-Stringz' was a bit changed, Biréli Lagréne replaced DiMeola, still very demandful and joy music...

I prefer the version with pianos...
The scales Jean Luc plays are a bit unpredictable to my rockn roll ears especial at the chord changes. That's not to say it isn't good though.
