Phil, nice met you over the Toronto Tea Festival, 2024. I used to be cigar smoker trained by my roommate Steve who claimed having good taste on everything from the wine, cigar, cars, and ladies(original words); Thank you for teaching me on the Tea aging and bacteria things that part always fascinating and being a myth to me. If connecting the history that there had been no room temperature control neither AC when tea made, stored, trade and used for over thousands years in China and India, room temperature may be the best for the tea. The bacteria community inside the tea can effectively maintain itself. Yes, under 40C' should be ok. Not sure if Canadian winter under 20C' be ok.

@@ZhenteaCa I agree 100% ! They both go really well together ! That show must've been awesome ! I've seen him 3 times and met him after one of his show. Super nice and fun dude. Also took drum lessons with Ryan who was playing in DTP. Kindest dude on Earth he completely changed my life. I wish I had seen him during the Empath tour but I was touring with my band when he came in Europe ! Hope I'll get a chance to see him again soon ! Keep up the great content ! I'll watch more of your videos. Always great to learn more about tea !

I'm also a cigar smoker, and have repurposed one of my humidors for pu'erh. I like having the calibrated hygrometer handy, and the one I'm using stores 2 sheng cakes. The results so far have been good, allowing me to tweak the humidity over the summer, and during winter months when heating dries the air.

Thanks for sharing this! Sounds like an awesome setup! Do you ever have a cigar with tea? I wonder if that would be good?

I usually pair cigars with Scotch whisky because the intensity of flavours is similar; but strong (10g in a 160ml Yixing pot) brews of Rou Gui or Beidou rock teas are pretty good.

Tea! Of course 😉 I think it was Guan Yin Hong (black tea). The bottle is a Hario cold brew tea maker that we use for hot tea, that's why it has the sleeve.

Very comprehensive video on aging. And this is coming from a guy who doesn't care about how his tea ages. Although, I have run into a particularly weird problem. I know aging white tea has become a "thing", but I've found needle white teas don't age all that well, even when kept in an air-tight container. The smell gets funky. Not moldy or stale, just . . . funky. Almost '70s funky. On a lark, I brewed one funky Silver Needle up that was seven years old. It _tasted_ fine(ish), but the smell was still musty.
    No idea what was up.

Thanks Geoff! Next we meet, I'll have an agreed Bai Hao Yin Zhen for us to sip in my pocket. The only thing that'll be funky, will be the music. 😀🤟
