OTT is often caused by the false belief that the fastest way down to the ball, in time, will also create the fastest clubhead. This leads people to take the short route down, which will always deliver an out to in swing. Simply taking the longest route down to the ball, not only allows the clubhead the time it needs to generate speed, but also delivers the clubhead to the ball on plane and down the target line. So, a swing that takes longer in time can deliver a faster clubhead to the ball.

I found out the hard way that a bad backswing where you adduct the lead arm too early causes the trail arm to get too far behind the body and then you don't have a choice to internally rotate coming down. those drills are exactly the feel I now use to feel like the arms stay in front of body more and thus requires less intervention coming down. Golf is getting easier thanks to you guys.. excellent stuff as usual.

  • @Longarmshortarm

Yooo. I’ve heard people talk about forearm rotation and supination but my brain always switches off because it’s too technical. Love the doorknob turning reference, now I’m keen to try the forearm supination to get on plane 😍 thanks good video!

  • @geoffhunt7965

Great helpful content, as usual. Thank you!

  • @mrpriceisright

What really grabbed my attention was the open palm drill. I've never seen that before and it seems like a great way to feel the right arm contribution (impact push with retained angle) an. Definitely going to try it out.

  • @tomlassar1089

I like to think of the trail elbow orbiting on plane in addition to the feels you mention

  • @petercrocitto7383

    Very good video

  • @7777mantle

I I like that open Palm drill I have limited mobility in right shoulder getting external with right arm is tough so first drill is iffy for me. I'll give them both a try thx for another great video

  • @merkeva1841

what i found works for me i love swinging like milo with my 8 irons and down but with longer clubs i have a hard time releasing i dont think i trust it

  • @Chris_Traynor

I'm an advocate of this but have noticed in my case that if I lower the lead arm even a small amount none of it will work, hence why I love the related move Henry mentioned of rotating into the lead arm. Milo's old golfletics video on 'arms in front' and 'leaving the arm structure up' explains this well and was key for me to achieve these trail arm movements. I would advise anybody enjoying this topic to revisit that video nugget here:

  • @grahamjones7371

Its Mental! the main reason for hackers making this move is fear and embarrassment of missing whiffing topping chunking the Ball they are desperately trying and using all of their mental effort to hit at and make contact with the ball

  • @ArmLifter

I dunno, man, it seems to me that Milo, Kuchar, Sadlowski, Snead, and Hogan all had way way WAY more right shoulder external rotation throughout the downswing than Rory, Sergio, and others. If a player gets the clubface square to the path early, either with a bowed left wrist and/or strong grip, then it seems to me that at least some external rotation is essential. Not a gallon of ER. But in the downswing, at left arm parallel, it's good to have the right elbow lower than the left elbow. Almost always far better than having it way above the left elbow. Seems like a good checkpoint for people filming their swings from face on.

Soon as I hear "trick," I know it's going to completely miss the point ...I wasn't disappointed!
