I smacked the starter of my 2007 Toyota Corolla CE 4-door with a hammer a few times and had someone crank it. It did the trick. The good old trick still works, hehe. Nonetheless, thank you for the great, quick, and simple content here. Cheers!
Thank you thank you thank you thank you! I did a dumb thing the other day when I connected the jumper cables backwards and destroyed a bunch of fuses. I probably also destroyed the car battery, but it was old anyway and I replaced it. The car was still totally dead. I learned the main, 100 amp fuse bolts in, and replaced it. The car was still dead, but the dash lights and fans worked. The radio did not work. I went through every under-the-hood fuse and found several scorched ones, and one bad one. The radio and more dash lights came back after replacing the bad fuses, but no starter activity. Your video offered the solution - that under-the-dash fuse was bad. I should go through all the other under-the-dash fuses, but I dread the contortions I need to get into to get under there. But thank you for a great video!
One of the best videos for car troubleshooting as well as camera work!! p.s. thanks for not talking about every part , tool , rag , cleaner , weather , etc b4 getting to the meat and potatoes of why we are here in the first place!...Lol I always need to start videos 2 min in to get passed them...👍🏻
Thank you for the video. My 2007 Corolla recently started having a delay before cranking occasionally. It started just fine in the below zero weather last week but had the delay again today just once while running errands. It isn't consistent and sometimes it will do it just once in the middle of the day. Then it won't do it again for a few days. I was wondering where the starter relay and neutral safety switches were.
hey i have a question, my car had the check engine light with the code po705 which is the transmission range sensor circuit i recently changed it i put a new one and always put the check engine back
@juan what if all my lights on my dash board come on but,the car wont crank.? And I seen that u mentioned the alarm system . I had lost my keys and got some extra keys made. And not too long ago my car just gave up on me.i replaced alternator and the starter aswell. I do have a sound system but I doubt that's the issue
Thanks so much! Excellent video. Replaced the starter relay before seeing your video. Bit of a pain to replace that relay as it was really stuck. Ended up pushing it out on the side of the relay with the tip of the blade of my knife. Then tested power to the red wire out of ignition switch and had power there. Am assuming starter is bad. Thanks again for all the info.
Thank you for posting this video saved me hundreds!! I was driving down the road and lost power! Pulled over tied cranking and nothing no crank. After following your helpful video turns out am2 fuse was blown!! Thank you!!
Good explanation, but starting Toyota Corolla and check engine light fail to come up and engine failed to start finally all fuse was check engine started raining.
Um so my AM2 fuse is blowing when I turn my ignition to start, first step to fix this would be to change the ignition relay first? I googled guys changing ignition switches and that wasnt it. Read 1 guy unplugged fuel injectors until the fuses stopped poppin, what do you think? Thank you
oh man great video! great electrical diagram explanation. One Question: I get power in the car, battery is 12.3V. fuses lil burnt but not blown. But when I try to crank it, powers goes out. Shorts out. Where should I look for that?
I'm sorry if I'm asking an unrelated question. Where does the thick black and green wire in the fuse box under the hood lead to? If it's too complicated to put into a message it's fine thank you if you read it.
Would faulty relay or fuses cause intermittent no starts? Someone mentioned a recall on a part that can cause no start but also loss of all power while driving. Mine just occasionally won't start. No sound, nothing. Next try or two, starts right up.
@@williamgomez5876 ended up being the starter bro. Grab a 2×4 and have someone knock on your starter while you try and crank it. That's how I found out, it started right up a few times then eventually went completely out.
Hi, i have a 2008 Corolla having a crank no start issue with it. We have double checked keys , security alarm, also no check engine light is on so it’s not throwing any codes on the scanner. we ran a spark & fuel test as well. the car just cranks but does not turn over. No burnt fuses. Could it be the computer burned or some other electric problem?
Hey buddy I’ve got an 07 Corolla. Just replaced starter. Watched this video. Car getting power but starter not cranking. All fuses look good. Where do I go from there? How do I know if it’s a relay. Better how do I know which one?
So I have a question. I have an aftermarket security system that someone else before me installed, it seams to have killed my car but the starter relay clicks when I turn the key. I can't hear it but I can feel it. My question is how do I go about removing it so I can start my car?
Hey man I’ve looked at your video and followed the wires. I feel the clicks in the relays. But when I turn the key to actually crank the car I get nothing not even dash lights.
what can it be if the engine will crank but not start? changed the alternator because the battery light would come on sometimes and the motor seems to be not getting fire even though it cranks. New battery and changed the NSW about 7 months ago. The OBD switch will not read it comes back as an error. Had the old alternator bench diagnosed and it came back good even though the battery light would come on for a while and then go off for a while. Seems like everything shut down with the engine, sprayed starting fluid into the throttle body though it did not even try to crank, anything would help if possible!!!
My question is 4 months ago, my car out of no where, would not turn over. Call a tow truck and 2 hours later my car turn over and started. And it hasn’t happened since then. Would this be a starter concern?
hey so we just bought a 07 corrola and when we were checking fuses for the stereo we unplugged a bunch of fuses. and now the car wont even attempt to crank over. is that a security feature?
Any advice? I have a 2006 corolla Im getting power out of black wire at neutral safety switch but none at wire to starter. Do not have the antitheft relay behind glove box. I have already replaced Alternator Battery Starter Starter relay Ignition switch Ground wires. Any help welcome.
Your video is interesting, I got the same corolla model, hoping you can help me, I wasnt able to start it, yet the battery is still okay, but cant make the car start, but what i did was to use another battery and its one click start, then I put my own battery and its okay the problem is it doesnt start as quick as before, it takes 2-3 seconds to start.
Great video! I need some advice. I have a 2006 Toyota Corolla S with an automatic transmission. Well first after watching your video I think I need to check the starter relay and the fuses. However, I may not have to, let me explain. The car only starts in neutral and a sometimes in park, The battery and cables are replaced and new (They were due for a change). The reverse lights also work when I put the car into reverse with the emergency brake on and key turned to the start position. The needle indicator on the Neutral Safety Switch seems to be in the correct location. So, now the car is not starting in park or neutral, I even tried reverse. OK, now when I try to start the car in park or in neutral I hear a low thud, very faint. Similar to what you hear when your battery is going dead. Correction, I have actually heard that all along. I need to have someone turn the key and poke my head under the hood and maybe use a stethoscope. After, everything I said, here is where is get interesting. When I turn the key to the start position, and poke my head under the hood, I hear a slight high pitch ringing - very faint - coming from the starter relay, I confirmed it with a stethoscope Last, part of this, I drove over a divider island while entering a supermarket parking lot on the driver's side tire. So, any ideas. I am wondering if the neutral safety switch is bad and I still hear a thud, maybe from the starter? I am concerned about the transmission, but don't want to file a claim It seem like I never get a break, I would greatly, greatly appreciate your opinion, Thanks!
Yo, I have a ignition problem, won't move the solenoid, replaced the ignition switch behind the key cylinder, starter relay, security relay (it carries current both sides when energized), starter motor and solenoid. I think it's either the control wire connection terminal on the solenoid or the transmission neutral switch, I don't know where that is, any clues? 2001 toyota corolla automatic.
