  • Learn about common issues with the 2019 Ford F-150 in this video.
The Ford F-150, a popular and widely used truck, has had several known issues and problems over various model years related to catalytic converters and rear axles. Here are some of the common problems and concerns:
    Catalytic Converter Issues
Premature Failure: Some Ford F-150 owners have reported premature failure of the catalytic converters. This can lead to reduced engine performance, increased emissions, and the activation of the check engine light.
Clogging: Catalytic converters can become clogged, causing poor engine performance, decreased fuel efficiency, and increased emissions.
Heat Damage: Excessive heat can damage the catalytic converter, often due to engine misfires or running too rich. This can result in melting or breaking of the internal substrate.
    Symptoms of Catalytic Converter Problems
Check Engine Light: The most common symptom is the check engine light turning on.
Poor Acceleration: Difficulty accelerating or a significant reduction in power.
Rattling Noise: A rattling sound from underneath the vehicle, particularly when starting or accelerating, can indicate a damaged catalytic converter.
Sulfur Smell: A rotten egg smell can indicate the catalytic converter is not functioning correctly.
    Rear Axle Issues RECALL :
The recall applies to some 2021-2023 F-150 vehicles equipped with the Trailer Tow Max Duty package and a 9.75-inch heavy duty axle with a 3/4 float axle design. VISIT NHTSA WEBSITE to check your F150 HERE : www.nhtsa.gov/
Differential Failure: Some F-150s have experienced issues with the rear differential, including noise, leaks, and outright failure. This can result in loss of power to the rear wheels and difficulty driving.
Leaking Seals: Rear axle seals can leak, causing differential fluid to escape. This can lead to insufficient lubrication and eventual differential failure.
Bearing Failure: Rear axle bearings can fail prematurely, resulting in noise and potentially causing damage to the axle itself.
    Symptoms of Rear Axle Problems
Noises: Grinding, whining, or clunking noises from the rear end of the truck.
Vibration: Excessive vibration, especially during acceleration or turning.
Fluid Leaks: Visible leaks of differential fluid on the ground where the truck is parked.
Uneven Tire Wear: Unusual or uneven tire wear can be a sign of rear axle issues.
