    That’s an interesting title for this vid. Canada must get one hell of a deal on new trucks, I haven’t seen anything in the way of a truck that’s even in the same general area of 20K (US), let alone the 14,850.00 (plus tax and license) I paid for mine. About a month into the Corvid crap the price of all SXS’s started dropping like a free fall elevator in the SW states.

    I saw it at a dealer last week. It’s huge and heavy machine but looks great with top notch suspension and ground clearance for attacking difficult terrain. Should more stable and difficult to roll over unlike other UTV’s.
    Only issue I see is it’s underpowered for this weight. Also dealer wanted US $27000 base price with no accessories.

    Kawasaki nailed this unit on fitment, overall quality, and has an overbuilt suspension. They ticked all the boxes. Unfortunately they really missed it with the engine and CVT. While CVT is the most popular transmission in the UTV world, it does have the most HP loss at about 30 percent from crank to wheels. I could hardly imagine how much nicer this buggy would be with a slight weight loss, and a real transmission like the YXZ or the Talon.

    • @1978JWJ
      @1978JWJ Před 4 lety

      They did NOT "nail it" with the suspension- already numerous reports of spring sag AND issues with the lowers A-arms causing damage under full drop and hard steering- its a first year unit- these are hopefully the bugs they will work out.

    To be fair, the $20,500 USD MSRP price is highly competitive with the other major brands with similar models. In fact, the KRX is a much better value when you consider you're getting 31" tires, beadlock rims and full half doors from the factory. That's easily over $2K USD in upgrades. As far as other accessories, the factory accessories are priced about the same as factory accessories from other brands. I own a Can Am Maverick turbo I can attest the factory accessories prices are high. KRX accessories will become cheaper as aftermarket companies begin making more of them. BTW, here in the U.S., several dealers are offering $5,500 USD discounts on the KRX models. If I could only get my wife to let me sell my 2017 Cam Am so I can get one of these beasts.

    Very accurate review on power to weight ratio. It wasn’t meant to compete with the more powerful SXS but will be a solid rig for trails. Hopefully the turbo will help it catch up with pack like Honda is trying to do...both late to the game and slightly unimpressive IMO, especially for the $$$. All SXS are pricey though

    @1978JWJ Před 4 lety

    THX for a great vid, keep it up. I love what you do, the TFL crew should be thankful to have you.
    So the KRX- right now its high on my radar, very much interested in this unit. For an NA engine rig its probably the best BUT I think you are also hitting the nail on the head when it comes to VALUE. Its new and its hot so value is not a concern for Kawasaki right now- ALL of the accessories are way too expensive! the base unit price is still at least 2 to 3 grand higher then it should be (I feel the same about the base Talon)- to my point. Here in the southeast of USA, TN to be specific. I can get a RZR 1000xp for around 16K. This unit a few years ago was THE sxs to have and it is still awesome especially for the price compared to all the other units at the same price point! That's a lot of upgrades or money saved for the cost difference.

    Yes, it's a costly machine to purchase up front, yes you can buy an old Jeep and build a pretty good machine to go offroad and have a lot of fun. Which is perfect if you have the garage space, a welder, chopsaw, notcher or tubing bender, a rack full of tubing, couple ARB or Detroit lockers, offroad shocks, 35 -37inch tires.... See where I'm going here? If you spent 20 years accumulating a pile of tools, and parts, then yeah, you can build a buggy for $10 grand in. But start pricing out a quality build and parts alone can start adding up $20-30 grand if your starting from scratch.
    Just a note, very few people go all out with accessories from the dealer, right off the bat. Windshield, roof first, after that bumper and winch. Or the other way around depending on where you ride.
    My opinion. Yours may vary. If I met you on the trail in your Jeep. and I in my side by side, I would still share a cool beverage with you and swap stories about the cool places to ride

    Kawasaki is gouging folks for the accessories. If you remove the sport designation and compare it to say something like Polaris Ranger Northstar Ultimate, a unit that comes fully enclosed, with heat, air, glass windshield and wiper, bumpers, winch etc, it makes no sense why the basics should not be a part of the KRX for the unit price. The concern for me is that this is a new unit, the aftermarket hasn't had time to build a list of accessories. Why spend $26,500 plus tax and then two thirds more of that price to get what are basic accessories. #Kawasaki.

    The Seep UTV offering is going to dominate the industry! ALL of the manufactories are going to have to really step up their game after the end of the year. If I lived in Canada there is no Eff'n way I would spend that kind of money for that unit.

  • @WW-wf8tu
    @WW-wf8tu Před 4 lety

    They are toys. The only choice for consumers is, how much money do they want to spend on a toy? 5K ? 20, 100? Really is no justification for them other than fun. So we can argue all day long about whether the price is fair or not, but it would be pointless on a frivolous product like this. IF we were talking about a ranch/farm or work utility vehicle like a Gator or the likes, then sure, what you get for the $ becomes more relevant. IF I could justify a toy in the 20-40K range tho, I would consider a Jeep. Get all the comforts of a road vehicle with options to get down and dirty at the same time. But that is just me.

    • @1978JWJ
      @1978JWJ Před 4 lety

      it has a wet clutch to handle "shock" load, its why they can claim such longer belt life BUT its also a big disadvantage in performance- the LAG is very real in these wet clutch units.

    They priced it way to high just like teryx after consumers noticed comfort is only thing going for it with great shocks and tires
    A couple places I've looked at they are 13500 to 16k
    Give it a min they will all come down just like my 18 teryx4 I paid 12k for it with front rear bumpers roof.......kawi thinks they are always greatest shit to run the earth but realize later brand loyalty keeps people in check and I enjoy the kawi utvs because it's like a raptor it's not a grizzly not a yfz it's ment for trails rocks creaks tight cornors vs rzrs and stuff just got to big to powerful for what we use them on.

    KRX 1000 IS WICKED!!! My buddies and i crawl alot and let me tell you there is so much i can do in the KRX 1000 that most of my buddies had to spend thousands of dollars on their hondas and yamahas just to keep up with me. I am actually selling my other SxS's and will be purchasing another KRX 1000, or two lol. I am also looking into the turbo kit that is available for these bad boys.
