  • I picked up a 2016 Sym Wolf 150, essentially a Honda CB150 knock off. I was skeptical at first, but truly it has been a fantastic moto over the last few months. Its light and fast, and fits on my hitch on the RV.

    I have one, also, and I love it. It's Taiwanese. Sym manufactured the Honda CB125 for years, under licence. After Honda pulled the plug on the CB125, Sym put in a larger piston, improved the air box, stretched the frame out and gave it a restyling. I should add it remains a 125cc for the Taiwanese market, 150cc for export. It's still being manufactured in Taiwan, the newer model has wider rims, and a slight change in it's styling, but the same little workhorse of an engine. It's a real gem of a bike, I can't believe you picked one up for $700.00! What a deal, congrats. Have fun with it.

    as we get older.. the smaller bike can be great fun and really put a smile on your face... im 58.. i have a 700 honda..which i dont use because i enjoy riding my scooter round local lanes at a much slower pace.. re-tracing all the lanes i rode when i was 16 years old on my first 50cc scooter... stopping at tea shacks and cake shops.. im enjoying biking every bit as much as when i was in my prime.... all part of the fun

    SYM Wolf is Taiwanese bike. It’s not really a copy though.
    The same factory produced Hondas for decades before the owner changed and new brand was established. SYM is very good and reliable manufacturer. They use the same tooling and staff that they used to make Hondas so… it’s very literally the same bike, but even better coz the new ones come with fuel injection and things.
    Very nice motorbike. Well made piece of technology. Just change the oil and the thing should last for a long time.

    I just found one of these locally also for $700 dollars, very tempted just to have a little scoot around bike. I'm a small framed person and don't want a big bike. Thanks for the video!

    So you know, SYM didnt copy the Honda CB motor. They actually built virtually all of Hondas single cylinder engines back in the1970s. SYM has built nearly and possibly millions of actual Honda motors that went into Hondas . Not a knock off or copy. An actually Honda :) after their contract ran out with Honda, they kept on making them for their own domestic market, which eventually found its way to North America as a wolf classic.
    I want one :)

    My neighbor has one hes trying to sell, asking 1200. Its not running yet as it just came from auction but the chrome is pristine and engine looks brand new and never exposed to many running hours. Really cool bike

    There is a choke switch between cluster and key switch. Also a very common design on early bikes.

    • @SirDrifto
      @SirDrifto  Před 2 lety

      That is correct. It actually rarely needs choke to start

    Taiwanes bike. Not a Honda copy. Same factory that made the Honda cb 125 for Honda. When Honda stopped producing them, SYM factory kept producing them locally. Sold in the US for a few years with a 150 engine. I love mine.

    Sym motor is a Taiwanese motorcycle company, it did manufacture some Honda’s bike. The first generation of sym wolf really familiar to Honda’s CD125s, which is a failure in Japan market. However, the sym wolf sells really well in Taiwan due to the marketing strategy. It started selling in 1974, and even today, sym wolf still selling in Taiwan and some country as it reliable and easy to repair.
    As a Taiwanese, the bike is a legend to Taiwan’s motorcycle company. Almost every Taiwanese knows this bike. And it has many kind of version. I also own a 150cc sym wolf.
    But it is quite different to you. Mine is drum brake and rotary. But the engine the same

    I really, like the look. I am supposed to look at one soon. Trying to look for kbb values, but there is no info out there. This bike has been sitting in a garage since April 2019. What is the most, one should pay for one of these?

    There’s one of these for sale in my area for $1400. I’m honestly thinking about trying to buy it, even for the price because of the economy right now.

    If you upgarde to taida 202cc bore up and stroker kit 4 valve, watercooled. You get a very fast and light bike. But you sacrifice fuel consumption.

    • @redmoon03
      @redmoon03 Před 2 lety +1

      I am Taiwanese and I would recommend it. It's good enough if you're only riding it for regular use. In Taiwan 90% of the people ride scooters now, but amongst the 10% motorcycle riders this is a commonly seen bike. Not just because it's cheap and affordable, also due to how modifiable it is. However if you live in NA I don't know if repairing and maintenance will be that convenient, so take that into consideration as well
