Yeojin was only 14 in her solo MV so it could've been considered creepy if they used real people as her counterparts so they opted for using faces of different Princes. Also the song is a really good one about how she was actually in love with the frog prince but she still wanted to take it slow and how that's a perfectly acceptable stance and was definitely age appropriate for her at the time.
Alright I’ll give you the shortest little essay of the LOONAverse ever written, lol. I’ll try to cover the biggest details that have been confirmed through cinema theory videos and also try to only stick to theories the majority of the fandom agree on.
While I’ll try to just summarize, know that this is only 1% of the lore. There are so many small details orbits have found to piece these base theories together. Even to the point of being shown a single page of blurry text from a book in one of the mvs and tracking down the book title. Just watching one of twinfishs videos will give you the gist of how minor details can change the story so much.
There are a few big aspects to LOONA’s lore.
1. The MVs. This is the main bulk of the theories.
2. The descriptions on all of their mvs. These descriptions helped lead orbits in the right direction of the storyline.
3. Teasers. Teaser always add little details that are left out of the mvs, but are very important.
4. Cinema Theory videos. BBC (LOONA’s company) held a theater event for Korean orbits where unseen footage and unreleased bside mvs were shown. These can be found on CZcams but it’s like watching a pirated movie lol
The biggest factors in the LOONAverse are the girl’s numbers and colors. Everything is mirrored in half - but more specifically 1/3 and yyxy are direct mirrors of each other.
Colors:
Bright Pink - Silver
Yellow - Eden Green
Green - Peach
Orange - Burgundy
Rose pink - Purple
Red - Blue
If you know anything about color theory this will look off to you. The primary colors and the secondary colors aren’t in the right places.
Primary: Red Blue Yellow
Secondary: Green Orange Purple
I’ll explain below why, but for now just understand that Hyunjin & Choerry (yellow & purple) are in the wrong spots and should be mirrored of each other. Because Choerry is upside down, that also means she needs to be flipped as well once she moves to the 1/3 order. In other words, instead of being the 2nd color, she would be the 4th color.
So the original order before Hyunjin & Choerry switched is:
Bright Pink - Silver
Green - Eden Green
Orange - Peach
Purple - Burgundy
Rose Pink - Yellow
Red - Blue
Now that the primary and secondary colors are together, another pattern becomes obvious. The yyxy (last 4 girls) are the exact mirror of the secondary colors, except they are mixed with white or black.
Burgundy: purple + black
Peach: Orange + white
Eden Green: Green + silver
With that basic idea, I’ll try to explain each mv the best I can.
Heejin (#1, Bright Pink, Rabbit, France):
Heejin’s mv is filled with a bunch of color. However, when it first start there is nothing. Completely white until the borders of white begin to spread and show the world. This symbolizes Heejin opening her eyes to a world of black & white. She is then seen talking to someone in a black dress, where we never actually see the girls face. (It is Heejin but they are trying to portray a different member). It’s been concluded that girl is Olivia because of the black & white colors surrounding her and their connection in Olivia’s mv too.
Main thing to take away from Heejin’s mv is she created the girl’s colors using the yellow balls, and the red & blue lights. Aka the primary colors that make up the secondary colors. However, we know that there are more colors than just those 6. That’s where Olivia comes in. At the end of the mv, the Black dress Heejin returns and looks as if Heejin is asking her something before turning around. This symbolizes Olivia giving her color to create the other 4 girls.
So, Heejin made green, orange, and purple - out of red blue yellow. Olivia turned the secondary colors into 3 different ones with her “highlights” (a lyric used in the song). But that’s only 11 colors (include Heejin’s & Olivia’s). The missing color is Rose Pink. So Heejin & Olivia creates rose pink using their colors.
Hyunjin (#2, yellow, cat, Japan):
Besides the idea involving Choerry I can’t say much about this mv alone. This one still baffles fans for the most part and BBC actually had to add a cinema theory video alluding to Hyunjin’s solo to help fans out. Obviously she’s being watched by a cat. The cat breaks a vase with a rose in it. (Roses are important for the yyxy subunit). And then Hyunjin comes over, opens a door, and sees a bracelet. In the cinema theory video I was alluding to - Gowon & Chuu are seen sitting at a table and Gowon is making a bracelet. At the very end we see the bracelet and it’s the same one in Hyunjin’s mv - we also see Gowon wrap the bracelet around a cat’s neck before sending it off.
Also the 9 different version of Hyunjin wearing a cats head could symbolize 2 things. The fact that she is connected to so many of the members by her color being used in a lot of theirs, or the 9 lives of a cat living in multiple universes of the girl’s. For example, how did that cat with Gowon know to find Hyunjin? Unless, it was another embodiment of Hyunjin. Which also ties into Choerry.
Haseul (#3, Green, white bird, Iceland):
Haseul’s mv is filled with so many details from the plane blue prints in the car, to the car being yellow, to the paper planes being thrown around.
To start with, her story is inspired by the Little Prince. The Little Prince tells about a boy who come from a small planet with nothing on it except the prince and a rose. Long story short, he crashes on earth and meets a man. Inevitably unable to find a way to return to his planet, the prince asks the man to kill him. Saying that his body on this planet is not who he is, and that the man shouldn’t feel bad for killing him because the prince will finally be home.
So yeah, Haseul’s mv is portraying herself as both the man and the prince. However, as the story shows, it’s not literally her. It’s the existence of two versions of her.
Yeojin (#4, Orange, frog, Taiwan):
Yeojins mv is another one debated amongst fans. I won’t go into too much detail. But basically, the frog prince is supposed to represent Yves. Yves is attempting to possibly crown Yeojin officially, but as the lyrics say she’s not ready. And ultimately Yeojin runs off - leading to her being “lost”. I can’t remember if it was official in one of the descriptions but I think BBC specifically said she was lost in a forest.
ViVi (#5, rose pink, deer, Busan, power-immortality)
ViVi was an odd release. While every member before and after debuted with a solo mv before a subunit, ViVi was the opposite. Not only that but she was given two very different and important mvs. If we go by the idea that within each subunit there are 4 girls, ViVi doesn’t fit in 1/3 because Yeojin was already confirmed to live in that world with Haseul. So ViVis solo being released after 1/3 doesn’t feel like a mistake, especially when you see the 2nd mv.
One thing you haven’t seen from the subunits is that ViVi is a robot in the 1/3 world. Yes, literally a battery charged robot.
So the reason why her solo mv was all distorted, retro, and way too over exposed was because that wasn’t a real memory. Of course, later on in Yves’s mv you saw the real memory. The boy in ViVi’s mv was actually Yves.
Another thing to note in ViVi’s mv is the backpack. The only other girls in the entire LOONAverse that have backpacks are all 3 Odd Eye Circle girls.
So getting to her second mv, you’ll notice a lot of the same imagery similarities to Odd Eye Circle. ViVi’s color is everywhere in the second mv, a common thing only with the OEC girls. The school girl outfit specifically being her color, OEC reference. And of course, the Jinsoul feature.
Kim Lip (#6, red, owl, power-time)
Kim Lip’s mv is basic for lore. The biggest thing to take away is that she is dancing in a continuous circle and switching between 3 different outfits. Also the building she’s in has 3 distinct floors.
This will get into physics, so be prepared lol.
In one of the OEC subunit mvs, the girls were wearing a bracelet that was in the shape of a Möbius strip. The Möbius strip is a ring with only one side. No inside, no outside, just one side. I recommend looking up a video to visually understand. But basically the Möbius strip is the shape of the timeline for the 3 subunits.
1/3 and yyxy are mirrors of each other, but OEC sits in between them. That is until Kim Lip starts the eclipse.
When a Möbius strip is cut 1 time in half, the strip will grow double its size. However, when you cut 2 times around the Möbius strip, you are left with one big strip and a little strip looped with the big one.
Essentially that’s what Kim Lip is doing. She’s cutting the LOONAverse timeline so at one point, all the girls will be able to meet.
Jinsoul (#7, Blue, betta fish, power-universe travel)
Honestly, suddenly I’m a blank on Jinsoul’s mv meaning. I do know that in one of the descriptions it’s mentioned that Jinsoul escaped from a basement in Hong Kong. She’s also seen a cinema theory video where ViVi is visiting the aquarium with 1/3 girls and Jinsoul is staring creepily at the fish while ViVi zooms in on her.
Also the idea of her powers comes from her appearances in OEC mvs, she is jumping around to different locations and then later on in the Butterfly mv we see those same locations Jinsoul was at but there are non-Loona members there.

Choerry (#8, purple, fruit bat, power-(explain below), fruit-cherry)
Okay let me explain the power before anything. Because purple is made from red & blue, Choerry’s powers are a mix of Lips and Jinsoul’s.
Basically think of it as she is able to travel to every single universe the LOONA members are in, but she can’t travel to universes outside of their timeline. Universe travel, limited by time. Which is opposite of ViVi’s immortality. ViVi can live through all the timeline, but she can’t travel between universes.
So in Choerry’s mv shes first seen in the 1/3 world with Haseul & Yeojin. All the secondary colors are together. This is supposed the represent the real Choerry. The consciousness we know Choerry as. However, when she bites the cherry she’s flipped over into the OEC world as thus takes on the role are a different version of herself. But ... this is also Hyunjin. Which returns to the idea of Hyunjin having 9 versions of herself wearing the cat head. Just like when Choerry drops a cherry through the mirror to a different Choerry - one of them has knowledge the other doesn’t because the one who grabbed the Cherry looked surprised. All Choerry’s are the same Choerry. All Hyunjins are the same Hyunjin. But all Choerrys are also Hyunjins, and yet they are all different consciousnesses from one another.
Also the mirrors. 12 mirrors, 12 realities for the 12 members. Choerry can look into each of the girls realities.
Okay the yyxy subunit is where it gets super philosophical and has religious undertones so for right now I’m just going to write bullet points but I’ll come back and add.
Yves (#9, burgundy, swan, fruit-apple)
- Adam & Eve
- If God has chosen my fate, than the desire to go against him is my fate?
- She uses the crane machine to pick the animals - thus visiting them. That’s how she met Yeojin & ViVi.
- she’s able to do that because she is Choerry’s mirror. Meaning she is also Hyunjin’s mirror. Which means she is all the color primary and secondary colors. She can literally make the girls with her own color.
Chuu (#10, peach, penguin, fruit-strawberry)
- Story is based off the tale of the Little Match Girl.
- Trying to find a new lead within Yves as she sees Yves find God within herself.
- Yves doesn’t want Chuu to look at her as God, which is why she ignores her the entire mv until Chuu finally bites the apple. Signifying her ready to find God within herself rather than with Yves.
- Bites the strawberry and is dropped from Eden to Earth, meeting up with Haseul from the end of The Carol mv.
Gowon (#11, Eden Green, Butterfly, fruit-pineapple)
- Talks a lot about the light and dark versions of herself but accepts both equally.
- Not wanting to be forced to eat her fruit by the other 2 girls.
- Finally does so on her own decision and turns from light to dark or dark to light.
- Dark and light sides in her is also a reference to her color having both black and white in it.
- In the end is crowned by Yves because her power within the LOONAverse is more than even she knows. (This has been alluded to probably for the future)
Olivia Hye (#12, silver, wolf, fruit-blood plum)
- Fallen angel from Eden
- Yves’s claw machine as well as Yves’s grip dropping her.
- Burning Yves’s tapes & Yves’s animal.
- Meeting Heejin at the end, similar to how the portrayal of Olivia met Heejin at the end of Heejin’s mv.
- A lot of her story is unknown but yyxy mvs might make it better to understand what we do know.

It’s completely okay whatever order you decide to go in. :) orbits usually just recommend the official order to reaction channels because it makes learning faces easier if you see all the girls in each subunit as their solo mv before you see them surrounded by the other girls.
So as long as you watch each solo of each girl in a subunit before watching that subunit, you’ll understand the linear story going on within that world. Because each subunit is a different world and the girls solos lead up to those individual worlds.
The exception to this is ViVi though! She was revealed in the 1/3 MVs before she actually debuted with her solo mvs.
I know you probably have a list of which mvs are the main solos, subunits, and full group. But I’ll give a little list of important non-title track mvs I recommend at least watching on your own time to catch little details that are in the main mvs.
Heejin/Hyunjin/Haseul - The Carol (important for Chuu’s mv)
ViVi - Everyday I Need You (May help understand why she was released after 1/3)
yyxy - “one” (not actually a mv, more like a substitute for them not having a repackaged album - but is extremely important to the story)

I didn't watch all LOONA vids completely until I did a complete watch in upload order (including teasers and subunits) and you're so right, it's a RIDE. I'm a 30 damn years old music professor, listened to kpop in and out over the past decade, and I've never felt the way I do about LOONA. Glad you enjoyed the solos!

Also a little premise of the Loonaverse ..( it's normal to be confused cause we all are with all the symbolism they put in the mv's. ) But the Loonaverse is made up of 3 worlds all connected on a Mobius strip. (So like there's earth and then on the other side of the world is Eden). Each world is the home of each sub unit, 1/3 being earth , oec being something in between and yyxy Eden. The sub unit videos are more clear with story so I won't say anything on that but.. now this part is just what I got from common orbit theories and the descriptions. Heejin created the Loonaverse, that's why in vivid she's cleaning and making colors and bunnies and stuff, Hyunjin, I have no idea. I'm pretty sure she's trying to send mail to chuu and Gowon who sent the bracelet to her which was revealed by BBC in some video shown at some concert. Haseul seems all normal in subunits but she's going through some internal stuff , I think she killed her other half by mistake and wants it back which is why she said "sone" or "wish" at the end. Yeojin is a princess?? But BBC said she got lost in the forest after that video which is why she's not in the first subunit and I'm pretty sure sonatine is about her. My theory is that sketchy frog prince kidnapped her cause he was really pushy and yeojin kept saying no like kiss later frog bye.. but that's just me😂 Vivi.. well you'll find out what she is in love and live and then maybe her solo will make more sense. Oec are like this superhero team that tries to get Loona OT12 together. Kim lip Being the leader with super speed , jinsoul low-key sketchy cause she's connected with Olivia, but she teleports, and Choerry is just all over the place traveling through each world eating cherries .. also common note, hyunjin and Choerry are mirror images of each other. (Yellow/Purple contrasts). Yves is a rebel who wants to escape Eden and do her own thing. Chuu , Yves ride or die girlfriend, Gowon is like some queen but also friend of Yves. Yves was trying to convince Gowon to escape with her and chuu. Finally Olivia Hye, She hates Yves because of how they treated her in their sub unit mv, she wants revenge.. sorry for this super long comment, I don't know how to shorten this stuff down 😂

ok, so Im not great at explaining stuff but as far as I understand: the loona 1/3 unit is heejin, hyunjin, haseul and Vivi (and yeojin? we don't know) with heejin being a big main character. the odd eye circle is Kim lip, jinsoul and choerry and yyxy is yves, chuu, gowon and olivia hye. each unit exists in a different universe/dimension/idk but some girls seem to be able to move between the dimensions.
in everyday I need you, we can see jinsoul in 1/3's world
in "love cherry motion" we can see choerry in 1/3's world with haseul and yeojin until she bites the apple and goes to odd eye circle's dimension and meets with Kimlip and jinsoul
in "new", we see Vivi in yyxy's dimension rollerskating with Vivi, and we see choerry catching the apple from yves as well
in "heart attack", there's haseul waking up chuu
in "one and only", choerry is the one hanging from the ceiling (BC that video couldn't get creepier) and dropping the apple
in "egoist" we see jinsoul again and heejin by the end
as far as the storyline goes, I can't help much, but I know that yyxy has a pretty heavy biblical reference (eg: yves ("Eve") biting the apple while singing about new days, a new life).
yves is also seen picking animal plushies from the crane machine and she's choosing the few she wants to "take" with her: she gets chuu to "bite the apple", and gowon as well (a pineapple but you know, still an apple ig) and gowon sings about not needing a garden of Eden.
Olivia is the only one that bit the "apple" (it's a blood plum, but don't worry about it) without yves help (cause in egoist, we can see the crane and it closes without "picking" Olivia) and while jinsoul is rapping, the sign behind her says "fallen angel"
so maybe yyxy are angels falling from Eden and heejin is god?? since she's the one confronting Olivia by the end (plus, heejin is the first girl, she started it all, she's the one that creates the loonaverse)
... Please watch twinfish's theory videos or anyone elses, this story can get confusing as hell but it's fun!

Yves, Chuu, Gowon, and Olivia Hye are members of "Loona yyxy."
Loona 1/3 has a very sweet, naive girl image, because they live in the normal part of the world. Their other songs also has a very classic flair to them. Their lyrics typically involve about love.
Loona Odd Eye Circle has a very girl crush image and sound, and also has eclectic indie pop/ dreamwave in their b-sides. They are told to reside in the world between Earth and Eden. Symbols include the blue, red, and purple colored moons, dimension travel, etc.
Loona yyxy resides in Eden. Their sound is a mix of cute k-pop, and also a mix of eclectic genres and dreamwave. Symbols include apples and fruits, because apples symbolize sin and expulsion from Eden. Themes include rebellion against God, self-love, etc.

But honestly people who haven't checked out LOONA always tell to us Orbits that we're overhyping them and that we're too passionate and stuff, but they don't undrestand that when a group (that inculdes the girls, their company and all their staff) put that HUGE amount of work in their project that has never been done before, the LEAST we can do is be even half as passionate as they are about what they have created for us!!!
Now let's get into the good stuff! First of all the mvs from Kim Lip's "eclipse" and on, have descriptions that expain a few things about the storyline, and you can't go wrong with those since it's from their official channel and not just theories. Now, their whole universe which is called Loonaverse, has the form of a mobius strip, and there are two worlds where the girls live in.(When you watch the Odd Eye Circle "Girl front" mv you can see the girls wearing mobius strip bracelets, each with their own color! And generally, the whole mobius thing is explored quite a bit in that mv). And also, all of them are connected to each other somehow.
So the girls from LOONA 1/3 (Heejin, Hyunjin, Haseul and Vivi - Yeojin is not part of any sub unit even thought she technically is, since she stands for the "/" in the 1/3 - Heejin, Hyunjin and Haseul are the "3" and Vivi is the "1") live in the normal side of the mobius/on Earth, and thats why they seem like girls next door/innocent/"normal". Except from Vivi which is an android (you can see more of that on LOONA 1/3 "Love & Live" mv) and I'll stop there for now.
The Odd Eye Cicrle girls live in the middle of the two worlds. They have a more badass concept and have the ability/power to travel throught the worlds with the mirrors you saw on Cheorry's mv. Now Cheorry is believed that was from earth (that's why she was hanging out with Haseul and Yeojin at the beginning of the mv and the song was kinda inoccent and cute when she was with them on Earth) but Jinsoul wanted her to go with them (Odd Eye Circle) to help them on their mission. The YYXY girls (Go Won is the "X") live in Eden. Each girl has a representative fruit/forbitten fruit (Yves: apple, Chuu: strawberry, Go Won: pinapple, Olivia Hye: blood plum) that gives them the ability to accept themselves when they eat it. Their concept is basically escaping the garden of Eden/denying god and creating a new world where they can live as their true selves.

Overall we're all still trying to figure out what is happening (the creator of LOONA said that he has writen storyline for 40+ more mvs so far!!!) and trying to connect dots with every comeback, so don't worry if some things don't make sense.
One notice: Vivi was the blond girl in Yves mv and Cheorry was the one by the end who caught the apple.
Finally, I would highly reccomend you watching theories for the mvs from Daebak Jjang's channel, that's where all the og Orbits got their theories cleared up from!

Their concept has to do with different dimensions meeting and it’s telling the story off how all the girls meet/finally get together despite their struggles finding each other/with each other. Yves is a swan (duck is like the duckling pre-swan, see also her white imagery/clothes) and yes Olivia is burning her plushie animal and as you’ll see in chuu, Go Won, Yves and chuu’s subunit MV, all has not always been well in their universe.....

I think one of the reasons that Loona is blowing up, aside from their intricate and unique concept, is the genuine positive messages in their lyrics. sappy loona rant ahead: i'm an ancient fan that's been there since the reveal of hyunjin and let me tell you it was a RIDE seeing all these amazing girls & their solos pop out, each of them so different yet all so high quality .. and to see them come together as one group was such an incredible experience T_T it makes me so happy to see you appreciate their predebut content so much. loona really put a lot of work into it but got very little recognition at the time, especially the first few girls, so i always love seeing others appreciate the whole loona project for the art that it is
For Yves mv there's this very interesting theory that's going around and it actually makes a lot of sense. So, the theory is that her song is about accepting herself and embracing who you are, and the mv is about someone accepting there sexuality. If you read the mv description, it explains some stuff about the song, and it says this -> "Yves asks a question in Eden. “Is it really a bad thing to disobey God?” If someone has already decided our fate, wouldn’t it be a better life to stand up and against that fate? The title track “new” is a song where Yves declares that she will be herself no matter what kind of hardships, pain, and frustration faces her."
So that leads many of us to believe that the video is basically about her accepting herself and her sexuality. Her name is Yves (pronounced eve), which reminds us of the story of Adam and Eve, where they eat the forbidden fruit, the apple. That's why there's so many apples in the mv lol. Then in some clips you see her hanging out with a group of guys, but treating them as if she were one of them. Also, after Yves bites the apple (which symbolizes her accepting her true self), we see her roller-skating with Vivi, which looks like a date and makes it seem like she likes her.
I think watching solos in order is exactly like this. The first 5 establish LOONA's diversity - that's the main take away. The next 3, OEC, establish proof of concept - the prominent 3 colored school uniforms and moons. Then the last 4, yyxy, raise the level of lore to unexpected heights - clearly there's more to the imagery and you know you need to go back and take your time looking through it all. That's when you get mind blown.

I'm so happy you love LOONA!!! I just wanted to explain some stuff about sub-units to before you get into them next week!
So to start off, each sub-unit have its own concept along with each girl's concept. If you look over the MVs again, you can actually sort of see how the sub-unit concepts tie into the girls' concepts, songs, and music videos as well. All of the concepts have to deal with love in some form.
LOONA 1/3 is our first sub-unit that consists of Heejin, Hyunjin, Haseul, and Vivi (with Yeojin representing the /). This sub-unit’s sound has a bit more of an innocent and cute vibe to it. It consists of girls who wait for love and long for it, unable to go and confess themselves. They are very much about the pure and innocent love. Their mini album is called Love & Live which has the intro, “Into the New Heart,” which is awesome and of course has the title track, “Love & Live,” and the b-sides, “You and Me Together,” “Fairy Tale,” and “Valentine Girl.” Their repacked, Love & Evil gives us two new songs “Sonatine” and “Rain 51Db” which shows the darker and sadder sides of love. Their songs are more geared towards the Korean audiences. The sub-unit as a whole with YeoJin has more focus on their animals and locations so you saw more imagery of their animals and locations.
ODD EYE CIRCLE is the second sub-unit that consists of Kim Lip, Jinsoul, and Choerry. They’re the opposite of 1/3, they refuse to wait for love to come to them and instead are the first to approach the ones they like and confess. They are the girls that would do the asking rather than wait to be asked. Their first mini album, Mix & Match has the intro “ODD,” which has a very whimsical and magic sort of feel to it. It has the songs “Girl Front,” “Loonatic,” “Starlight,” and “Chaotic.” As a special, they released an English version of “Loonatic” and it has an MV as well. Their repackaged, Max & Match releases a new intro, “ADD” along with three new songs, “Sweet Crazy Love,” “Uncover,” and “ODD Front.” The last track being a remix of “Girl Front” where it’s basically combined with their first intro, “ODD.” Their songs has more of a Western influence along with European dance pops. Their songs have a lot of R&B and EDM vibes to it which is most likely the reason why a lot of US fans really love this sub-unit.
yyxy, pronounced as “yy by y” which stands for “youth youth by young" is the third sub-unit which consists of Yves, Chuu, Go Won, and Olivia Hye. They talk about learning to love yourself and accepting yourself, but they also show youthful love. All the sides of love and what it’s like when you’re young. Their first min album, Beauty & The Beat shows the youthful side of love and it consists of the intro track, “dal segno” and the main track, “love4eva” along with “frozen,” “one way,” and “rendezvous 18.6y.” They haven’t released a repackaged yet, which a lot fans speculate/hope will be release soon. A lot of fans thing that their music is going to be a combination of 1/3 and OEC, this first album seems to be more similar to 1/3 so a lot of fans think the repackage will sound more like OEC.
