- EU4 or Europa Universalis 4 is a fantastic historical grand strategy game which puts the player in charge of any country in the world between the year 1444 AD and 1821 AD. Today the spiffing brit will be playing this classic paradox interactive strategy game to see if the Vassal Only challenge is perfectly balanced and fair. I mean we need spiff to discover if EU4 IS A PERFECTLY BALANCED GAME WITH NO EXPLOITS!!! Or if Japans Vassal Only Challenge is broken and a far too overpowered glitch. So Is the vassal only challenge perfectly balanced lets find out.
What you have seen here today is part of a fantastic perfectly balanced series on youtube where I go from game to game and break them with wacky exploits to gain things like unlimited gold. Id actually heard about the time glitch exploit before for getting wacky claims but had never really put 2 and 2 together to use it this way. Im impressed with your creativity.
Edit: started looking at this myself and have come up with a way to make it even more spicy. In addition to annexing Ando, annex Uesugi so you can form Japan and nobody else. When given the option, keep your old Ashikaga ideas. This will give you access to the Japanese mission tree as well as that last Ashikaga idea which gives an additional 25% income from vassals and 100% force limit on top of everything else. Now I just have to hope they dont patch this madness
this "exploit" is many years old.
Most "three mountains" guides involve taking over the Japanese vassal swarm
If they were going to patch it they would have patched it years ago when it was discovered
@@jkst4268 I'm going to assume I either did this wrong or the exploit requires a particular DLC to use (though its Paradox, this doesn't come as a surprise at all).
The exploit works, but for some reason it turns Ashikaga into another Daimyo who can't change as a result of being a Daimyo.

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT: this exploit still works - but its wierd- ashikaga starts as a duchy and all of the rest of japan start as a duchy or an independent daimyo , but the weird thing is - they are daimyo vassals under a duchy...

3:55 Extra diplomats are underrated: more diplomats means more claims fabricated (saving admin mana) and more relation improvement (meaning quicker vassalisation).
Not to mention it helps early game expansion as improving relations will prevent coalitions for a long time.
Lol, diplo ideas France+ ally the strongest electors will basically let you ignore coalitions
Best vassal swarm is Poland becoming HRE emperor, adding all the land, breaking the ottomans into tiny states that join the HRE because you released them, then pass the reform to vassalize all of the HRE.
But the HRE is only limited to Europe and Anatolia in EU4, while you can have unlimited daimyo vassals as a shogunate all over the world, just remember to separate your daimyo vassals with land controlled by yourself. So, as a Shogun, you can create the largest vassal swarm theoretically.

@@Hydrophiidae No, there is an exploit to add other nations into the HRE.
It involves taking the target's most developed province (be it their capital or not), coring and stating it, then deliberately giving away your own capital in a war (making sure that the target province is your most developed province not counting your capital). This means that your capital will be moved to the province you just took, and since you are the Emperor, your capital cannot be moved outside the HRE, so the province gets added automatically to the HRE, despite the fact that it is not in Europe. You then take back your original capital and move your capital back.
The target province will remain in the Empire, enabling you to sell it back to its original owner (or just return core, same deal). Take target country's current capital to force them to move it to the province in the HRE, and voilà. Target becomes a Prince in the HRE.
Note that the target will not be retroactively vassalised, however, and will hence remain largely independent until the final "Renovatio Imperii" reform is passed, unifying the HRE as a big teal blob. This works best against Ming, who is always a problem to annex in WC runs due to truce times.

I recently studied Sengoku Jidai (the thing happening in Japan that turned it into a couple dozen fiefdoms in this game), and it's really, really funny to see you end it by deciding that people aren't allowed to fight anymore.
The dense amount of cunning tricks, backstabbing, and Oda pretty much carrying the team never happened because one Englishman had an idea.

This still works, and not mentioned here is that if you do this, when you go back to 1444 Venice is a prince of the HRE making it a breeze to avoid the shadow kingdom.

In fact, you don't even have to go to war, just get an alliance with the target and get to 190 relation, then you can ask your target to become your daimyo.

I've been watching you quietly for a while. Love having your voice echo through the halls of my home. That being said I was getting annoyed by all your disrespect on coffee drinkers and the pedestal you place Yorkshire Gold Tea and all its tea related glory. So I decided to put your word to the test. I got myself a box of these delectable baggies of goodness and promptly went home and prepared myself a cup. Giveing it the full 4 minutes to steep and took a sip. I must say my good man that my whole world was placed on its head. As a coffee drinker I will never start my day without my bean juice, however, after that first cup I've burned all my coffee and coffee related products and now lined the walls of my home with Yorkshire gold. Nothing else will pass my lips and its all thanks to you my good man. I was originally planning on giving a scathing review of the back water you promote however it has cleaned my very soul and i have seen the light. Turning your Shogunate into a feudal state where all of your vassals are forced to raise your armies for you and are permanently indebted to your to pay for said armies whilst also too afraid of each other to rebel because they know that you will just sick all you vassals on the a rebelling one and take their land?
Congrats Spiff, you literally just made a near perfect replica of the Tokugawa Shogunate.
The only difference is that you completely bypassed the Sengoku Jidai era; you actually *successfully* invaded Korea (sorry Toyotomi); and you combined all this with the Imperial aggression of the Late Meiji and early Shouwa eras (hence invading China).

it seems since the update to china's emperor mechanics this one has kind of gotten fixxed. its still possible for you to do the exploit as normal and not take the shogun reform as well as them all becoming dukes/duchesses but now they will go after their claims as normal
All you need to do to keep your Daymios from going to war with each other is to always keep them at wars with foreign nations. As long as they are at war, they wont start new wars, meaning that as long as they are at war with a foreigner, they wont attack each other. So, all you need to do is to always start a new war when the current one is about to end.
You can also turn every conquered nation into vassal Daymios, which means expanding the swarm.

Heyy, Mr. Spiff your "Country Cheese" has actually made me quite interested. I have an idea now!
A couple of patches before Mr. REMAN made a nation spotlight for an absolute MONSTER - the "Minghal nation", in which you basically jump from MING empire into MUGHAL SULTANATE, which can spawn a "THREATENING BLOB" TM waaay too early in the game. But the devs "fixed" it with a patch in which you can't form MUGHAL SULTANATE if you are "Celestial Empire"...
But with theese thingies you've shown us we can probably make Ming into an "INDEPENDENT NATION" then make it whatever, BUT the Celestial empire, do NOT loose mandate aaand - Have a FIRE NATION (like in Avatar) in EU 4!
This is actually used in Ryukyu achievement runs
No, the ryukyu strategy is to make ryukyu get the daymio goverment type. This has nothing to do with the exploit in this video

You are able to play paste the end date if you select that in the settings at the beginning of the game
