This is one of "Randolph Scott's" finest westerns. He was one of my dads favorite western actors. We used to watch this movie together. When I need to feel close to my dad (Rest In Peace, daddy) I watch this movie. It warms my heart and brings back some of my best memories. Strange as it may seem my dad looked like "Mr. Scott". (Needless to say my dad was a truly handsome man.)
Something about Randolph's face is like a portrait of what a classic cowboy is supposed to look like. Perfect.
Yes, he looks like me after I got old.
He was a unique persona. The keystone of Every film he was in. Solid. and true. Moreso than the Duke if I can be so bold.
All l can say is keep making films like this available, far better than graphic foul language rubbish of nowadays...
You've been programmed.
what I like of western movies is when the film makers filming sceneries for movies are the mountains, rocky mountains, rivers, ocean sides, the sky,clouds...cause reality film makers can't make interesting movies without God's heavenly spectacular creations
I wonder why they never give the horses 🐎 any credit. They are a large part of all westerns. Beautiful horses they deserve better. A big 👍 to all the horses 🐎 that works harder than any of the actors.
Yes, I always enjoy watching the horses work for the actors. They’re a trained breed.
Mister Ed, the talking horse had his own tv show. 😊😊
Agreed
Randolf Scott’s horses were always beautiful!
@@suev3339 They are particularly good in this. The horse trainers did a great job to make this classic film work on every level.
One of the better Westerns from the 1950s.
I absolutely love Randolph Scott! ❤
Randolph Scott at his Best with a great surporting cast = one Fantastic Western❤❤❤
That Roscoe P. Coltrane aka James Best played in just about every western and western series made.
Seen this 3 or 4 times that'll be because it real cool, born in 59, also it's when Bonanza started with Parnell Roberts.
Another good thing to watch from the start👍✌️🎬🇬🇧💯
Thanks cool upload 🤠💰🍿
This was Jamse Coburn's film debut. He impressed Randolph Scott so much, the star put in a good word for him to John Sturges, who would eventually hire Coburn to play Brett in "The Magnficent Seven." This role helped to open the door to a successful career for Mr. Coburn. By the way " Ride Lonesome" is a helleva Western partners.
Westerns are Americana! Goin to the movies as a little boy was Saturday afternoon was an adventure afterwards playing cowboys of the old west!!! For hours of fun..
@@richardelarmo8379 Hey partner! What grub did you buy at the movie theater or bring from home to help get through your Western adventure?
One of my favorite westerns with Randolph Scott ! And pretty much James Coburn starting his westerns Also great cast of other actors and actress !
@@franzman48 : Great to here from a fan of Randolph Scott! There are not too many of us left partner. I agree with you
100% that the rest of the cast was excellent also. I actually remember seeing this at the RKO Greenpoint(a section of Brooklyn NYC) when "Ride Lonesome" first came out. Funny I can't remember what I ate for dinner last night. 😅 Stay healthy ! Peace!
Thanks for this info on Coburn, mighty interesting.
Pernell Roberts had a busy year in "59.
After this movie, he went into production with Bonanza
Yeah, he'll always be Adam to me lolz.
How is it possible that this movie from 1959 has better resolution than movies made in the 1970s and 1980s??!!
depth of field, something digital can't do
Artistry not technicality
or 2020s....
This movie is one of the great ones. The story line shows good character superb acting from the best! More, need more.😉😁🧐🧐🧐💯💯👍🏾👍🏾
Wow..! Karen Steele was so lovely in this film. A timeless beauty for sure..!❤
Excellent cast, featuring the old school Randolph Scott, still making out despite the meteoric rise of John Wayne; and a juvenile James Coburn standing in the shadow of an undervalued Purnell Roberts (who got a regular paycheque from TV's Bonanza"), not to mention a fairly token Lee Van Cleef, doing his everyday bad guy stuff. Superb locations and a still crisp and clear colour print. Well worth a watch and thanks for sharing...
Thanks for putting this up ! Always liked Randolph Scott movies .
when television was television ❤
Wonderful to see a young Roscoe P Coaltrain! ❤
RANDOLPH SCOTT, PERNELL ROBERTS AND JAMES COBURN; ALL SOLID ACTORS.
I was 6 years old when I first saw this at theater. Randy Scott is another of my Role Models and heroes still. He was born not far from where I live too. 👍👍& 10⭐
Bloody great film. Never expected that ending. Great cast and well acted. 12/10
What a cast! I also didn't realize how good the musical score was for the mood setting between scenes! Fantastic! Can't beat Cinemascope for the era either 10/10.
The Budd Boetticher/Burt Kennedy westerns are great classics, the best being Seven Men From Now, also starring Randy Scott, the magnificent Gail Russell, & Lee Marvin, who features brilliantly in the final scene.
Excellent cinematograohy
Masterpiece! One of the best B westerns ever. Thank you for uploading.
it should not be a B though
@@andreoliveira685 It's not.
Seen it many times and always enjoy. Especially the vistas; beautiful country. The golden age of the western movies.
Not just a great western, but a great film.
Watched this so many times along with Comanche Station I hum the theme music for hours. Just good old movie making. A masterpiece, in it's own way. James Best almost steals it!!
I told em I'd be along, after I buried ya.
You make good coffee
She ain't ugly
Of the many things I love about these westerns, they shore had some purty hosses.
A beautifully crafted Western with some of the best long-shots I've ever seen in this genre. I love the rhythm and pace of the editing; it's one superb frame after another. A great opening scene establishes the plot and we are slowly introduced to some marvellous characters. The music, particularly in the early scenes, creates wonderful atmosphere. The cast is very strong and it's a great movie debut for James Coburn. Karen Steele really stands out too and is a little more than the token female 'object' of male desire. I could've done without the melodramatic final scene but it doesn't spoil one of the finest Westerns ever made. Thankyou for sharing it with us.
i saw all 7 (I think() of Budd Boetticher's westerns with Randolph Scott here in NYC at MOMA many years ago. . They are ALL excellent IMO. A very underrated director. Thanks for posting this.
Would love to see westerns made again. Tired of car and buildings crashed over and over and unessary language.
I'm with you friend! I even started recording Gunsmoke on my PVR, no unnecessary potty mouth, plenty good episodes. I always told my kids: those who use vulgarity are only expressing a lack of vocabulary.
@Robbie Lee you are so right , there are other words to use instead of foul language, I don't have a large vocabulary but I have no problem not using foul language, it's so easy to do. It's just focusing on your words. Old movies are refreshing to watch, one reason because of a lack of unnecessary language..
Writes now wouldn’t know how to write an old western.
@@nana11morgan91 you got that right!
Last western I liked was American Outlaws.
Havent seen this in years, what a great show, great cast, scenery. Thank you.
This is a brilliant film everything is perfect about it. Can recommend this to others who will enjoy it as well if they love westerns. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Your comment make me watch the movie del viejo oeste .
Sheriff
James Coburn in his first movie role. Interesting to see him playing a young greenhorn. That didn't last long.
SPOILER
I'm glad he lived. Sidekicks didn't make it in Comanche Station and The Tall T.
Probably Scott's best and a Western that should be up there with John Wayne's. The dark and macabre secret of the hanging tree is not something you usually find in lightweight Scott westerns. The interplay between Scott and his friendly compatriots who tell him openly theyre going to kill him at some point is beautifully played.
Actually, it's way better than most of John Wayne's.
Randolph Scott... Gary Cooper.. Clark Gable... were way better than John Wayne.
@@djamelbouch3670 I agree to some extant but any Western fan that hasn't got The Searchers in his top five isn't a Western fan
Perhaps, but it strikes me as illogical. If Sam killed Brigade, he could not get amnesty. Nobody gets amnesty for murder; he couldn't be that stupid, could he?
Another illogical plot point is Frank's long ago hanging of Brigade's wife on the hanging tree. Actor Lee Van Cleef plays Frank in a relatively thoughtful and deliberative manner (except for that line about "forgetting" hanging Brigade's wife, which I fine incredible), resulting in we the audience being unable to completely suspend disbelief that Frank would have had a motive sufficiently malevolent enough to commit such an act of unbridled savagery.
I think this narrative patchiness could have been tightened up with a flashback that showed how wild and crazed Frank actually was at the time. Just consider the cinematic bonus you would attain by showing a psychopathic, misogynistic Frank sadistically hanging Brigade's wife, when the hanging tree was healthy and alive; THAT would have been a powerful scene.
It's also worth noting that the running time of RIDE LONESOME is so brief (73 minutes), adding another five or six minutes for this flashback would not have affected the pacing of the film at all. RIDE LONESOME could have been a classic Western at the top of the heap, but it falls a little short due to implausible plot points, IMHO.
@@GH3K3 Sam killing Brigade isn't a problem for me initially - the only other person there at first (besides Billy) is Whit and they're in the middle of nowhere - they could easily have killed Brigade with no-one the wiser. The plot hole arises when Mrs Lane comes along. Sam and Whit would have to get rid of her too, though it seems Sam is open with her because he's convinced she, a woman without a man, will come along with him and Whit to the ranch, regardless.
Also of course, Sam says he's going to take Brigade head on and we all know that a quick draw gunfight in Westerns isn't against the law. He'd have Whit, Mrs Lane and Billy to attest it was a fair fight.
I think the film does well enough to imply the evilness of Frank. Forgetting about the hanging is mere bluster because earlier he says to the gang that he knows where Brigade is going (the hanging tree) because of a wrong he did him long ago.
Great cast even Purnell Roberts from Bonanza fame ( Adam).
A great supporting cast all went on to tv fame.
Tight trim beautifully filmed. Boetticher
Coburn. had the toughest role to play. Way out of character for him and he never broke.
Sign of excellent directing too.
The cinematography is fantastic. Also short movie with a great screenplay
Yes I sure would love to see them come back
a lot of great actors
This is a great western movie. Thanks for posting it.
This film is like high-school film project compared to Good, Bad and the Ugly.
A 1959 movie !
Thank you for this one!
Karen Steele actress & model. What a beautiful & talented lady! Died young at 56 of cancer....James Coburn before The Magnificent Seven. Randolph Scott who made many westerns including my favorite Ride the High Country...Lee Van Cleef & James Best who were both fine actors... I give this movie Seven Stars...******* Thanks for showing it*******
Very. Good. One. 🎉🎉🎉👍👌💢💥💫
James Best played many parts in western. Great Actor.
Has to be the BEST of the "Ranown" cycle.
I love horses 🐎 in westerns. They contribute allot to the movie . I hope they're well feed and looked after .
Excellent !
Good plot, great cast. = Great Western !
Great movie 5 🌟 .

A broken cross, huh. Such a shame.
Great movie!
Nice.Always liked the Randy-Budd movies. Always thought Pernell Roberts best work, tho in Sheepman smaller role but dam good also. Good cast.

Good old western. Thanks for the download. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Man! This looks so great! I hope you can get more films in high res! Thank you !!!
That's what stood out to me, the quality of the video/film. So many of these online westerns are almost unwatchable. Color in and out, words out of sync with the people speaking, etc.
Are you a photographer Tara ???
Darn good movie 🤠👍🏿
Pernell Robert's character was so much more interesting in this movie than any other character I ever seen him play, including Adam Cartwright in Bonanza. Too bad the opening music was not as original as his portrayal.
I wish I had a chin like Randolph Scott.
R. Scott, P. Roberts(Adam Cartwright), J. Coburn. Very good cast
Seen it many times, not a bad western
TOP NOTCH WESTERN. As they ALL are from back then.
I was 2 years old when this came out.
Me too! 😂
A very strong and potent starcast, excellent histrionics from the actors. Takes one right into the good old wild West.
Thoroughly enjoyed the straight forward movie.
Thank you for that, a great film,an one I had not seen. Have a great week. Michael
This was pretty good. Nice to see one in actual color and not just coloized. It was a little long as they sometimes were back then but the story is a better one in this movie than a lot of those where they are just trying to get from one plot point to another and the characters are written to just act like they're stupid or blind. LOL. Worth the watch IMHO!
73 minutes is a "little long"? C'mon now!
Good movie
Thanks for the upload.
Screenwriter Burt Kennedy's line, spoken by Pernell Roberts, "There are some things a man just can't ride around," is an echo of a virtually identical line used by Randolph Scott in The Tall T (1957), another entry in the Scott/Brown/Boetticher series.
Great movie. Great cast.
What a movie, good cast and great show!
danke für so eine schönes film...
Thank you
If I remember correctly ... 30:53 That dramatic music became well known in several Westerns, a couple other Drama films, and a couple of TV shows of the 50's. 👍👍& 10⭐
Good one 🤠
I would love to see good clean western movies with no sweat words and leave sexual suggestions out of if.
Agreed way to much sweating in movies
Top cast of bad guys
I spent my childhood watching these old movies. Only after I grew up, did I realize that in about 95% of Indian attack scenes, the Indians just rode around in circles, just whooping and hollering, while the heroes shot them off their horses.
First time,I have seen this movie, thanks.
Great Western ,so much acting excellance
So good!
Wonderful movie
Beautiful movie
Good movie
10/10 👍👍
Good one! Thank you!
Pernell played his beautiful azz off. James Best wasn't far behind. When Pernell first walked out at 9:20, I almost passed out.
@genettalacey2..I ONLY TUNED IN CUZ I SAW THE VERY HANDSOME FACE OF PERNELL ROBERTS AKA" ADAM...I DIDN'T KNOW PERNELL PAYED IN THIS WESTERN, I LOVE THIS MAN...AND YES YOU'RE RIGHT PERNELL ROBERTS CAN PLAY HIS BEAUTIFUL ASS OFF

@@blackkmenistrash9390YES it has. I will always be a Pernell fan. I still watch him daily. Glad to hear from you. The man still makes my heart skip a beat. 😊😊❤❤❤

He gives me a "way down shiver" everyday.
@@genettalacey2627 YES ALWAYS 🥰💯
Great ending. A man can get a second chance
What happened to the characters after???
Obviously, Billy John got stretched. Did Boone and Whit follow thru and build that ranch? I imagine Ms. Lane landed another husband pretty quick...in-town this time. And Brigade? He's still ridin the land all over, looking for another lost soul.
Enjoying
Whatever happened to RANDOLPH SCOTT, RID'IN THE TRAIL ALONE, whatever happened to RANDOLPH SCOTT, has happened to the industry!
I didn't know they had the 'wonderful, wonderful - lift and separate - Wonder Bra', back in them days.
She was a true pioneer!
Need to watch Westbound for an encore.
This movie has been uploaded hundreds of times.
This is a great film and a good copy of it... just saying
Best ,, Movie ever made ~~~ Hombre ~~~
