- This classic film from one of the greatest directors of the 20th century (John Huston), boasts an incredible cast. Well-shot and well-acted, with a solid story to boot,...The neighbors of a frontier family turn on them when it is suspected that their adopted daughter was stolen from the local Kiowa tribe. There is plenty of action and suspense with Indian fights, dramatic events, & more.

I saw this movie with my father when i was a boy . Good old sweet memories of my beautiful childhood. Thanks Dad. ❤
What year back then?🤷..How old are you now? Is your dad still live? what is his name? what about your mom? how many brother & sister do you have? that's all I lke to know just for my curiosity, thank you very much.
How old are you now?
Bravo
I watched this movie on tv with my father about 40 years ago. We enjoyed it so much. I still miss my Dad.
Old is gold i miss you 😢
My mother was raised on a farm. She always liked horses, western was a natural, and in the 50's, 60's and 70's is all we watched. Mom thank you, may you rest in peace.
😓🙏❤
The problem is Devil runs the world. He is lier and murderer. This is the reason why deception and violence are everywhere.
That's why we've got the Gospel about the God's kingdom. Jehovah would put everything in order. The dead will be resurected and we'll meet our beloved ones again! :-)
I had the pleasure of working with Audrey Hepburn as an actor, on a film in Hollywood near the end of her career, and she was a joy to behold. Gentle, sweet and with this wonderful way about her of including you in her life. Also, an enormous talent.. Hollywood could take a lesson..
A very rare individual..
What was the name of film you worked in?
@Diego, It was the film, "Love Among Thieves". All best wishes.
I have been in love with her my whole life, since I was 5 or 6. She brought such warmth to every character she played. She was genuine and seemed to bring out the best in all around her.@@BeauDare-ov7py
Wow you’re so lucky! She’s my absolute idol
From IMDB:
Before filming began, director John Huston and star Burt Lancaster took actress Lillian Gish out to the desert to teach her how to shoot, which she would have to do in the film. However, Huston was astounded to discover that Gish could shoot more accurately, and faster, than both he and Lancaster, who thought themselves expert marksmen. It turned out that early in her career Gish was taught how to shoot by notorious western outlaw and gunfighter Al J. Jennings, who had become an actor after his release from a long prison sentence for train robbery and was in the cast of one of her films. She found that she liked shooting and over the years had developed into an expert shot.
Lillian Gish sure looked able with a rifle in THE NIGHT OF THE HUNTER.😅😂
Another not so fun fact. This is the movie Audrey Hepburn broke her back on. She was a skilled rider. But while doing a stunt on horseback. She fell. I think it was the scene where she jumped the horse bareback.
Underated film, excellent casting combined with one of the greatest directors in the business.Grew up with these kinds of films, and grateful for them being made.Art is in the eye of the beholder!
No surprise she was better than Huston, he was a city boy.
This is a good movie. It was hard to watch. But that's what made it good.
No winners, just survivors. Finding happiness in their future is winning. This movie deserves a trilogy.
This is one of the best Western movies I have ever seen and 64. I started working in Hollywood mainly at universal studios, but I also worked at Warner Brothers, Paramont, and other studios to me. Western movies and TV shows are the lifeblood of America.
Welcome buddy I am 53. May 1971
This is a drama 😔 i prefer action.
The characters in this movie are straight out of the city, not the rural West. The personalities are just transferred to Western actors.
Burt Lancaster and Audie Murphy together for the first and only time. God bless them for all the joy they gave us.
Glad to see this movie come around. I saw it in a theater just before I was 20 years old and thought even then it was worth superlatives.
What an incredible number of very fine films all three stars made in their careers. Thank goodness such wonderful entertainment is still available to us.
How did I not see this when it came out? A truly great western movie. Great writing. Great cast.
It's kind of cool how the youngest brother, Andy, looks up to his big brother, Ben, as the head of the family and as a surrogate father and calls him "sir".
It’s called respect, and it’s something that no longer exists. Today we live in a selfish and moral less society where everything is about “me”.
Fulfillment of bible prophecy and we're seeing it firsthand. All the best to you and yours.
@@cornbreadthedog I didn't understand, where do you see fulfillment of bible prophecy?
Jesus himself said that people/the overall society in our timeframe would be extremely selfish: "having no real love, no natural affection, children would be rampantly disobedient and disrespectful, excessively into oneself, intensely infatuated lovers of money and personal fame rather than lovers' of God". Again, he didn't lie. I'm seeing it firsthand at ground zero. We all are. Most aren't seeing it from Jesus' and God's perspective. You have a wonderful day.
@@cornbreadthedog May I ask you as man of letters and as native English speaker. In the movie they call Indians "redhaired niggers". Why do they call them "redhaired"? I thought native Americans had black hair.
Any movie with Audrey Hepburn, Burt Lancaster and James Stewart are worth watching twice.
Yes
You can say that again!
3x?
Where's James Stewart
Audie Murphy, not James Stewart.
Wrong cast for A. Hepburn she looked nothing like and indian.
Audrey Hepburn is a lady of all different skills and talent.
I love her movies so very much ❤ Westerns really were not my thing till some of the greats made appearances in them ❤ Growing up on a farm I could totally relate to some of the things Rachel went thru.
Wonderful film ❤❤
Thank you for the beautiful memories.
But in that movie she is a total miscast.I loved her most in"Wait until Dark"!
Hollywood western drama with big stars - my favorites.😊
There's more than Burt Lancaster and Audrey Hepburn to note in this film.
I came to know and love actors that I've seen over the years in other great films and those very actors are:
Audie Murphy ❤
Charles Bickford ❤
John Saxon ❤
Doug McClure ❤
Albert Salmi ❤
Lillian Gish ❤
Just warmed my heart to see all this great talent in one movie.
John Huston was just an incredible man in and of himself too!!!!! ❤
Thank you for the upload, and still in good old nick and sound👏🌟👍❤️
One of the great western movies that are not made anymore with a great cast too ,thank God for Kevin costner keeping them going
I was glad to read that Audrey Hepburn was a fine moral woman. It’s a shame that she had so many health problems. She was so beautiful and the movie Roman Holiday which she starred in with that gorgeous Gregory Peck had the saddest ending of any movie that I’ve ever seen. That sad look he gave as he watched her walk up the stairs away from him broke my heart. His quirky dark left eyebrow got to me every time. ❤❤❤❤
Broke her back on this film and may have contributed to her miscarriage. The dame abides.
I read that she smoked a pack a day, which seems out of her character that I imagine.
Women smoked back the to stay thin. But her health suffered because of near starving conditions during WWII.
Bro you remind me of very sad ending of this beautiful movie. Thank you.
If you think that's a sad ending, you haven't seen The Wicker Man the original 1973 version or Chinatown released in the same year and directed by Roman Polanski. The most distressing endings I can think of.
This movie maybe during 1955 ,when l was a kid in South Vietnam, great movie with Burt Lancaster and Audrey Hepburn nice story … Thanks for sharing memories movie .(RCL Veterans)🇫🇷🇺🇸🇦🇺🇵🇭🇰🇷🇵🇭👋🙏

an all star cast that's hard to beat. action packed, all emotions firing, all around greatly enjoyable movie. so glad i ran onto it. ty.
Wonderful movie, great actors, many memories.
Great movie, great actors, great story!
I saw part of this movie about 11 years ago on TV, but I never saw the movie name and couldn't find it anywhere online for the life of me. I just stumbled across it and am so glad I can finally watch the whole film.
Very good Western, with a dark theme.
Thanks.
Good acting performances all round.
Wow,this movie l have known about it for the past 15 yeas and now is when l finally got to see her is out standing Excellent film top of the line!!!😞😞😞
What an incredible and intense film. I remember seeing it with my parents when I was 8 or 9 years old, and it really put a hook in me. The most impressive character to me was Mr. Kelsey - Joseph Wiseman's portrayal of the Old Man - high plains drifting outcast with one dead eye - soothsayer, oracle and harbinger - brought a mythical and mystical air of classic Greek tragedy to the picture. The hanging scene was one of the most shocking and impressive things I'd ever seen at that age.
That hanging scene WAS incredible, especially Wiseman and Lillian Gish.
Awesome Countryside Scenery ❤❤❤
what a great movie ! real masterpiece indeed, all is perfect: writing, acting and directing by John Huston, one of his best movies, thanks again for sharing such good movie - western, appreciate it,
one of the three best settlers beseiged action sequences ive seen on film.the others being rachel and the stranger and the family v the redlegs in the outlaw josey wales.
Audrey was so beautiful, delicate, she played it in such a simple and yet intense way.
That scene where Burt Lancaster lifts a piano on his back incredible! Even though it was a hollowed out empty shell it probably still weighed around 200 pounds. Burt was an incredible athlete, in another film, "The Flame And Arrow" 1950, he performed some amazing stunts. In one he ran up to a 25 foot wall, stepped on a bench, jumped up and did a muscle up, then heaved himself up and over the wall, this 65 years before muscle ups became a thing. The later in the movie he's sitting on a tree branch, 15 feet up, when he leans back using his legs he flips backwards, and flips in mid air landing on his feet. Then still later, another actor 30 feet up on a barns 2nd story jumps and lands on Burts shoulders then pushes off of Burt flipping in the air and lands on his feet, amazing! The actors were amazing athletes back then.
I'd also mention that Burt waived the use of a stunt double in"Trapeze"(1957) and at the age of 60! Burt did his own stunts in the film "Scorpio"(1973). Michael Winner who directed "Lawman"(1971) told about how Burt was practicing throwing himself from his horse over and over again in preparation for a climactic shootout scene. I'm guessing there are probably scores of similar anecdotes throughout Burt's career.
I believe that he was in the circus before being an actor.
@@biakabutooka Trapeze was a movie from 1956 not 1957! Just looked it up on Wiki and IMBD! A simple GOOGLE search would have told you that!
The piano was made of foam. Maybe 15-20 lbs max. It's called acting. You cannot have your star even near anything may fuck up the production schedule. See Hepburn's broken back accident on this film, just rehearsing.
@@higgsmerino3925 You mean that movies aren't real? My whole world just came crashing down around my ankles 😫. And I have weak ankles 🙃. Life has lost all meaning. Wait, does this mean that putting out doesn't get you love?

I saw this WONDERFUL MOVIE in 1960 too - when I was 12 years old!.

Audrey Hepburn was a favorite actress. Audie Murphy was the most decorated war hero.
Two if the Top draws in the day, Burt Lancaster, Audrey Hepburn.
Classic film
Audie too ;
John Saxon played an outstanding role.
So did Audie Murphy.
This Movie is a Classic.
Brilliant film , I may have seen it before. But it was brilliant. Thank you very much ,appreciated 👍🙏

That's the dilemma Ben has, he's over protective of her not because she a sibling but because in love with her. He knows she's been adopted. Thre's definitely a sexual chemistry there.@@persebra
❤Love it! A real Classic!! Bravo🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍💥💥💥💥💥
Clint Eastwood and his team has just told me to watch the film.❤😊

What a great movie! Thank you for posting it. 🫡
Wonderful!
more than a great movie; an observation of a time of change and poses far more questions than answers...
Gracias por subirla Audrey Hepburn es mi actriz favorita😊
Its amazing how we still seem to love watching how we stole the Indian’s land, their babies, their food, their living and still think we have to honor their killlers as heroes. A classic allright, well made, but with a terrible lack of justice.
Yup, that's the history of ALL living creatures on this planet or any other in the universe. Deal with it.
And we still insult them by calling them "Indians". THEY AIN'T FROM INDIA!
It's sad that few people in the comments even notice this .
We white people could have negotiated and made fair deals with the natives, rather than just grabbing what we wanted. We could still have prospered. There were some white people who tried to be fair and considerate, but too many were greedy and wanted freebies.
My husband is native. Most Native Americans tend to say that they prefer to be called "Indian" or "American Indian" than other names.@@higgsmerino3925
Très bon western ! Des acteurs légendaires, des combats épiques, de l'émotion et de l'action : un super moment ! Merci pour le partage ! ❤❤❤ Bernard (Riom - Auvergne/France)
I love the musical score to this film. It's pretty cool.
Great movie and cast really delivers
Great Albert Salmi!
I love the western and southwestern region of the Country. So Beautiful.
Thanks for sharing it! I always enjoy watching Old Western Movies though. 👍👌👏
And of course, I'm a subscriber!
Thanks Again Though.
I've always had a crush on Burt Lancaster.❤❤
no you didn't. Not unless you met and spent time with him. It's called fantasy.
Wonderful plot
Amazing film
La he visto muchas veces, pero nunca me canso de volverla a ver. tanto por los actores como por su bella música.

👌Thank you
FANTASTIC
great film
Thanks for a great movie 😊❤
Burt Lancaster.....Legend !!
A good role for Audie Murphy which let him break out of his formula characters and he did a fine job.
He's also in Huston's excellent "The Red Badge of Courage".
What great old movies! You'll just be sorry, tomorrow 😂
Wonderful cast!!
Thanks for the upload 🥰
Altijd al een geweldige film gevonden.
This movie was nothing less than you'd expect from John Huston!
Great cast.
I wasn’t expecting a battle of the bands nice twist.
Little known gem of a movie, character driven story, great cinematography, subtle but powerful storytelling.
This is a masterpiece! Unforgettable and timeless old classic movie! 🎉🎉🎉
truth is truth and nobody can't run away from truth
❤ Wow! Classic!❤🎉😊
Great movie top of the line, love it!!!
Intresting that AH plays an Indian in this film. She plays a role similar to that of Natalie Wood
in The Searchers. Powerful western, without clear ideas of right and wrong. Thought provoking.
Natalie Wood, in THE SEARCHERS, was a white girl who'd been kidnapped by Indians.
Thankil! Very good.❤🙏🏻🙏🏻👏👏
This movie is great. And the reason for vengeance was well written.
2 HEARTS COME TO MIND FOR GIVING TO NEEDY .. AUDREY HEPBURN & SALLY STRUTHERS...❤️🔥👍🇺🇲😎🕊️👈
Brilliant movie 👏👏, but terribly sad story😢😢
Yes, so much prejudice 1:30:22
Check out Albert Salmi for a terrible, horrific, real life story. Hope he rots in hell.
Una película inolvidable y dos grandes. Estrella del.cine en ese tiempo 😊
That was so GREAT!!!
Great western, but you must watch it to the end
What cursed the family, was people holding to the past....excelente movie! Mr Houston made a womderful work, beautiful cinematography, and Lilian Gish was magnificent! For me, she stole the movie!
excellent film
Albert Salmi, the actor who played Charlie in this movie, was 52 years old shot and killed his wife and then went upstairs and killed himself. They had 2 daughters. It was said that he had been suffering from depression. 😢😢😢😢😢😢
And he was a raging alcoholic. There was a restraining order in place at the time. The wife had wanted a divorce for years. He was a wretched human. Rot in hell.
62 years old.
Audrey Hepburn was so beautiful but a very dramatic western well worth the watch though
Great movie!!
My thanks for this 👍
I never knew Audrey was such an excellent horsewoman. Also, got a chuckle out of Doug McClure.
I read that she fell off a horse during filming and was injured. Looks like she could ride and was a classic beauty.
She broke her friggin back rehearsing some scenes, and probably contributed to her miscarriage.
Burt Lancaster is underrated
Since when?
You find out who your friends really are when it comes to prejudice and revenge . All morality is thrown to the wind.
Ön yargıyı yok etmek atomu parçalamaktan daha zordur
Lol! I find nothing true in this your write-up. Tbh I enjoyed the movie but we shouldn't forget the obvious! She was stolen from her real family, (her clan who did everything to get her back.) If only a peaceful dialogue was issued between her clan and her brothers the lives wasted for just that one girl wouldn't be necessary, the other family acted reasonably by cutting them off
The Kiowas had wanted to negotiate in peace. It's possible that something could have been worked out. Maybe visits? A bond of peace might have been created between the two races in that area.@@lisaa9887
