Working in the big 4 is like studying in IIMs. The experience is shitty but looks good on the resume.
Not really.. working in any big company/firm depends upon various things, profile, boss, team, client/service agents etc. there are millions of people who spend decades in big 4s and even big MNCs. If you are supported at the right time and through right means, you would like to work for years in that organisation.
As an employee in Big 4, I can confirm
I can relate to this
Damn 🤣
@Spell Check working at big 4 is also awesome except the work life balance part

would you be willing to guide me bro ?
where are you working now?
Where did you switch to ?
I did my graduation from computer science and now I am working as a fresher in a service based company but I have recently discovered that I am more inclined towards consulting and I have also starting learning about microeconomics and finance recently.
Could you please suggest me how can I switch to a consulting firm? Should I first apply for a Dara analyst? I have learnt basic python, SQL, Tableau and I have also started reading business case studies.
But I have low confidence on how to approach someone for the interview. Does anyone has any suggestions for me?please let me know.
To all whose listening to the podcast its not about how to get into big4 its all about how to survive there.
Is it difficult to survive Mam,what about the work life balance
@@foodieayushi1136 work-life depends not everyday will be hectic, few days will be max you will work for 12 hrs not more than that .
I spent 2 decades doing this . The guest has an enthusiasm of a fresher or campus recruit with too many body movements. Big4s usually kick out the rapper of the board rooms.
Whooa This guy is so much excited when talking about problems and curiosity and all these things wonderful amount of energy and enthusiasm😄
These big 4s are no longer a high paying job giver. They are facing a huge rate of attrition these days due to their outdated pay scale. It's not even closer to the current industry standard.
we have had a drastic change last year due to people leaving firm for other industries but pay is still not at par with stress that comes with job

High payers are FAANG starting at 60LPA as fresher. Big 4 is nothing but service providers. Be a product maker, be an SDE. Analyst and Consultant jobs soon will be outdated by ML algorithms.
I am a seasoned consultant and have been working for a Big 4 for the past 12 years and as consultants what you need is the courage to tell your clients what they need, and not go with what they think they want.
Can you guide me so that I can break into one?
First 3 & Big 4 are now disrupted by their own old age models and clients became smart enough to get great potential candidates directly recruited and drive the challenges within their orgs (or) go with a time & material model of consulting services. To give some credit Big 4 ( esp Deloitte & PWC) are able to start breaking the old models than the First 3 in a way by positioning themselves as technology focused.
Being said the above generic statements , there are few niche areas where some of these companies are experts in and that wont go away easily to others.
Also your learning curve is based on the project you are in . So if you are really looking for a great learning experience, go look for startups.
I agreed, start up gives more exposure, learning and opportunities than well reputated, established MNCs. Being an HR and had exp in working with start up, I can surely recommend freshers to join start ups than big 4 or other big brands initially.

You dont need to do MBA or Engineering to do structural thinking. Just join any startups or any job . You will be Millionaire in a year once you get enough experience.
My starting salary in MNC was 20k. No proper work exposure.I switched to startups. Learnt a lot. That helped me find a job later ehich can pay upto more than 3lakhs per month from India.
If you think you will first prepare for a job for 6 months etc, then you are a fool. Because experience is gained by interacting with people in the organization and working on the particular field. Studying has nothing to do with that unless you implement it.

But they paid well for just sitting and acting and dressing up nicely and presenting. I have decided I will go back to these as my retirement jobs 😅

@@yoyo9122 are you in India? If yes, than you need mba btech degree..
If you are in country like Uk , there are graduates schemes (it’s like fresher recruitment) by big 4s. I also worked in one of the above mentioned big 4. But to be honest they only did ask 3-4 questions in interview. None of them was related to technical and skills, moreover it was personal type questions. First they asked me about my undergraduate degree then next my favourite holiday destination. Third question was way too personal even I hesitated to answer they asked me about my relationship status. Then when the interviewer found that I was unwilling to answer he suddenly said sorry and asked me about my favourite cuisine.
This interview was too weird, even I was stunned for a moment. But to my surprise I was selected at a very lucrative package.

I feel like there's a lotta personal agenda behind this episode. Consultancy is a good place to get CV points cause these massive companies have a great reputation and it primarily runs on prestige. The glamour, the paid trips etc certainly can be a fun experience. But the work gets REALLY boring and dry if your project kinda sucks. A consulting gig imo is only as good as your project. I personally felt like I had surface knowledge about industries and could never go really deep into a project cause i just hated the department i was in. I believe consulting is only good for a few years at max but you should aim to specialise soon or start something of your own
