    What a excellent way to prime your pump!

    Nice video. Question: why there's no water coming out after you removed the lid? Thanks

      @@seattlebest79 with pump off the water settles back into the pool and draws downward in the pipes vs pushing up and out of the pump.

    Why did you open the filter valve when cleaning the filter pump? I did not see water coming out and you did not close the filter valve.

      I closed it at 3:50 in the video and explained at 3:05 that I close it when the pump shows prime and filter is getting close to full of water. You can let it spray out from the valve if you’d like to be sure. I wish you the best.

    The manual for my vsf says breaker off, relieve pressure and disconnect communication wire. Is that needed if you select service mode?

    What do you do if after putting the lid back on the pump you don’t get water. In fact on my backup pump which runs the spa I am getting a ton of air out the spa jet’s causing water to shoot out. Am I not waiting long enough? I don’t want to ruin the pump by letting it run dry

      @ApacheRanch  Před rokem +3

      Can’t ruin the pump that way. It will just free wheel and you won’t hurt it. Let it run longer to try to start prime. Release any pressure valve you have on your filter or other to make creating prime easier. Good luck! Tell me what worked for you.

      @@ApacheRanch Just to clarify, it's okay to run the pump that long (seemed like almost a minute) with no water it it? [Guess it's creating a vacuum and sucking the water in.] In other videos they show closing the valves to the pull (skimmer and drain) on the suction side, so the suction line to the pump doesn't drain.
      My initial thought was especially if it starts at high speed (but later drops to a lower configured speed), the last thing you want to do is run it dry (or less than normal water). But perhaps this is sort of the "self-priming" feature I've heard about.
      Unrelated - any reason that cover seems so much dirtier than the pump next it it?

    • @ApacheRanch
      @ApacheRanch  Před měsícem +1

      @@jwhite4 the right side pump is a seldomly used water feature. The left pump runs 24x7 to filter the pool. It gets a lot of bugs and junk pulled into it whereas the other does not.
      With regard to shutting off valves, maybe that helps some pools out l, but not needed for mine. Running a pool pump without primed water for a couple minutes isn’t going to hurt the pump. It’s designed to run very fast initially to drive the prime and then go back to my programmed slower rpm. Thanks for your comment!!

    weird never seen a backwash line on a cartridge filter

    • @ApacheRanch
      @ApacheRanch  Před rokem +1

      That’s my line to drain the pool if needed. It redirects from my pump and just empties the pool through a pipe I have that exits away from the equipment and grass. Not related to the filter at all. Sometimes I drain the pool to clean tile line, or to reduced CYA or TDS build up. Thanks for your comment.

    I’m trying to get mine off but every video I saw they just do it and done. Mines stuck I guess

      Use the lower palm of your hand and really pop it hard. Or maybe try a rubber mallet if you have one.
