  • These are the moms that you have been watching for the last few weeks. There were about 300 on 60 acres since April 14. They have been kidding and lambing for about 2 weeks now. I opened the gate and moved some of them onto this clover for a few hours, then moved them off, not wanting to cause boat. This is very high-quality forage but they need to get accustomed to it slowly. Don't introduce them to feed like this when they are very hungry or in the morning when the dew is on. Please watch the sequel. This is the same field that we were feeding the lambs and kids for the market last year with the feeders on them • Always have a plan B . Look how well this clover has grown back after being eaten down to the ground in February.

Did you have any that bloated? What percent clover would you estimate that field had?
We have a field that is mostly clover and would like to graze our sheep on it, but are concerned about bloat. Is the risk of bloat reduced once the clover has gone to seed or after a good frost?

That field had probably 50% red clover. Turn out for a few hours at a time and observe them to be safe.
