  • Versatility with her buttons. Here are two instances from two different days where Billi used her "back" button. ⠀
    .⠀
I've gone over it before, but a common question is how we train "ouch". I model it whenever she wccidentally hurts me while we're playing (teeth or claws), and one unfortunate instance where I didn't see her and accidentally stepped on her tail! (poor Billi 😿)⠀
    .⠀
For those that don't know, Billi has a mild case of feline hyperesthesia (FHS) that occasionally flares up. It was the main reason I added body part buttons! I'm so glad she has another way to communicate her needs with me in addition to body language. ⠀
    .⠀
⁣ Billi is a female domestic shorthair, she's 12 years old, her favorite word is mad. Inspiration from Hunger4Words (check her out on IG).

Ikr! That was awesome. Also using 'mom' even though her mum was right there, similar to how her mum was using 'billi', since I've seen some comments in other videos suggesting that Billi is just using the mom button for attention (kind of like a 'come here' or 'pay attention to me', which this video suggests otherwise because her mum was already there and paying attention to her). It's the small details that are so cool.
Also when mousy had gone in her food bowl, she pressed 'where' and then looked at her mum, as though she was checking she understood, and then went over to the mousy button to make sure she understood. It makes me wonder whether, when her mum stood up and didn't know what object Billi was talking about (either didn't know or was pretending), whether Billi would have gone back to the mousy button as a reminder.

@@jagth8138 I strongly agree. If you think about it, what ultimately makes us human is the fact that we were raised by and in close relations with other humans; the way we think is the way we were accustomed to think. Just like that, an animal, if raised by a human with the proper amount of attention and respect (after all, it falls on us, since we are the only ones having that liberty), can be influenced to the extent they start to think and act akin to us. And their expression changes accordingly, for instance my tabby cat used to slowly shift his eyes within a ‘left eye, nose, right eye’ triangle when we were communicating, just like humans usually do.

“Back ouch”. Me too Billi. This time of year is the worst for back pain. Cold fronts make the pressure change and make all those joints in the spine hurt SO much!
Also, it must be so amazing for Billi to say these things. The first time my kid fell down and I asked him where it hurt and he pointed to his leg while wailing “kneeeeeeeee!” I almost cried myself, but from relief and joy. It was just such a weight off that suddenly my baby could tell me where it hurts, even if it’s something as simple as a scraped knee. I didn’t have to depend on body language and other clues to guess anymore.
That would be so amazing if my cat could do the same thing. My last dog died of cancer (thankfully at an old age) and I keep thinking that we might’ve caught it sooner if he could have told us his belly hurt. And even on the milder side, it must be such a relief to be able to ease the ache for Billi when her joints hurt.
