Southern Airways Flight 242 Memorial, New Hope Georgia.

I have been fascinated with this particular crash since the day it happened. The stories on how, why, and reasons, are all stories of heroism and human foibles along with technology that was not adequate. As in all aviation accidents, hard lessons are learned. I will not go into details here nor will I attempt to tell the stories. Instead, I have created a short video of the monument, the area as it is now, interspersed with pictures of what it was like then. I will provide a few links to some stories and information regarding this incident.
Shout out to a local named Coley. I am not good with names and his last name escapes me. He, along with Scott mentioned in my video, provided some really good info.

Born and raise in new hope on bobo rd. Boy that small little country town is no more .Sadly but thankful i left it use to be a great town and county .

My dad told me abt it when I was a kid. He was 16 when it happen an living in dallas at the time. A lot of history in one area.

The “New Hope citizens killed” at the gas station were three moms and their four kids…the oldest was around 6 or 7. All from the same family. The grandmother lost her two daughters, daughter in law and all four of her grandchildren. Incredibly sad time for the Griffin family... 😔💔 you never heal from that kind of loss.
