Lionel Legacy Polar Express Custom Track Powered Bluetooth Speaker Car

Well, it is that time of the year. I just finished setting up our black PE train set around the Christmas tree once again. After seeing how nice Lionel's new flicker free LED lamps operate compared to the older incandescent bulbs I updated each car in this set with the same revised LED lamps. I revised all of our heavyweight Bluetooth speakers cars as well. They now operate off the power that is supplied to the track. Using a large bridge rectifier along with a single large capacitor in the power supply upstream from the amp. The cap helps in the prevention of playback interruption. Interruption due to a possible dead spot in the track or poor conductivity by the truck pickups. The battery option was very nice, however I thought about long term and the possibility of battery failure down the road. I left the charging jack that is mounted to the vestibule. A 12v-18v DC wall adapter can be plugged into the charging jack to power the amplifier when off the track. One day each of my two sons will inherit one of our two Legacy Polar Express train sets. Gold and black. I didn't want them to have to figure out what dad did or have to figure out how to take the speaker cars apart just to replace the battery packs in the event they need replacement and I am no longer around to do it.

I got one of these in november. Its the best legacy locomotive lionel has ever produced. So happy to see they reintroduced this loco for the 20th anniversary of the movie.

I agree. We just pre ordered the 20th anniversary as well. Both Legacy PE train sets in our collection I purchased for my two sons. The new 20th anniversary set I'll keep for myself.

Lionel is actually making me hate the movie! Did any of the chuckleheads that designed this 20 years ago ever watch the movie? They finally corrected where the "Polar Express" name was depicted on the passenger cars, but the shy kid still sits on the wrong side. Another Lionel rabbit hole!
