- Bug Buffet & Green Cuisine Available Here - purefin.shop/ In this video, I give a list of the 10 best tankmates for angelfish in a community aquarium. I give information about each fish and a bunch of different tips and tricks.
The fish listed in this video are:
- Corydoras Catfish
Cory Catfish, also called Cory Cats, Cory Fish and Corydoras Catfish, are very popular freshwater fish in pet stores. Corys are hardy fish for their size and are staples in freshwater community tanks.
- Bolivian Rams
The Bolivian ram is a small, good looking and peaceful cichlid. Keeping Bolivian ram is quite easy, and a great choice for community tanks. The fish is a bit more aggressive, though if comparing it with cichlid species in general it’s not aggressive at all. Its behaviour is meant more to scare the other fish, not attack or hurt.
- German Blue Rams
The Blue Ram cichlid, also known as German Blue Ram, is a beautiful and peaceful cichlid, popular among aquarists, but not recommended for beginners.
- Guppies
Guppies are a small livebearing fish, immensely popular as tropical aquarium fish - particularly for community aquaria and for beginners. They are colourful, peaceful, easy to care for and probably the easiest of all aquarium fish to breed.
- Kribensis
Pelmatochromis pulcher is a bright dwarf cichlid which is not very demanding as for its tank conditions.
- Cherry Barbs
Cherry Barbs are brightly colored fish and one of the most popular in their family. Their bright colors and schooling nature are adored by aquarists of all levels.
- Kuhli Loach
The Kuhli Loach is generally a nocturnal and shy fish, which will like to find a hiding place during the day. However, they will readily come out at feeding time. They are very adept at locating bits of food in an aquarium, and are often included in an aquarium to ensure that there is no buildup of uneaten foods under rocks or wood.
- Mollies
Mollies are very versatile fish having the unique ability to live in both freshwater and saltwater if acclimated slowly. Just like other livebearers, mollies are easy to breed, and make fascinating fish for the seasoned aquarist. These fish will add drama and contrast to the semi-aggressive aquarium.
- Platy
Platies are hardy and colorful fish that make a wonderful addition to the passive community aquarium. Platies are easy to breed, and new colour varieties are developed through selective breeding programs. Platies make a perfect addition to the aquarium for the novice to expert alike.
- Bristlenose
The Bushy Nose Plecostomus, also known as the Bristlenose Plecostomus, comes from the rivers and tributaries of South America. It is mainly brown, with a mottling of lighter areas. The mouth area and nose are covered in short, whisker-like appendages, which are used for detecting food. There are also many color and fin variations available. Bushy Nose Plecos make good additions to any community aquarium.
Thanks so much for watching!

I always feel like top ten angel tankmate recommendations are basically a menu, thank you for sparing my tetras
Great video and advice! Thank you for it as I love angelfish and have 5 of them and hope to build a community tank around them.
Fun fact : Buy the Angelfish as baby’s or when they are still young so they will think of the other fish as Tank mates instead of food.
im worried that a school will bully the one or two angels i get
Very informative as usual... keep it up.. and let us all be updated... i like your stuff!!! More vids...
Thank you!
New subscriber after just seeing one vid. Good info
Thanks Alyssa

Love your videos
I just got 2 new anglefish today and I’m so exited to adding more fish. I have a few others in there (swordtails) and they’re doing great. My parrot fish died and I was really attached to that fish I taught it tricks and it would follow me to where I was in my room and I am sad that he died. Hoping these fish will set a good feeling in my room. :)
My parents finally agreed I’d I could right a 5 page essay about it so I DID
But my sword fish male attacked my mid size angelfish
Nice one man
i like the lighting
Thank you
Just got my first angelfish today. Two quarter sized juveniles. Currently in quarantine tank before they get added to the 40 gallon!

Hey u r really amazing got the content what I had looking for
I have black skirt tetras with my angelfish for 2 years now. They do well with the angelfish.
I currently keep cherry barbs guppies and a flame dwarf gourami..😊
My guppies just had babies. The angels love them.
I have a ram- it has murdered 3 fish so far including 2 female rams. I also have an angelfish in a separate tank, which is the exact OPPOSITE of the ram, although they are both cichlids. The angelfish is quite peaceful. Also, I have many fish in two tanks that were from this video. Guppies, mollies, a German blue ram, cherry barbs, neon tetras, and Kuhli loaches.
Oh, and panda Cories too.
You are really cute, but we need more fish footage.
Right.. As i seen all this (fish) videos it just shows human talking.. It amaze me how they love to talk while they can list it up.. Bored

I have 10 large adult cardinal tetras that are 2-2.5 inches with mature angelfish. They are doing well
So any update so far? Did your angelfish eat the Cardinal tetra?
Mine too.
Just started breeding Angel fish and want to add my 4 mos old angels I the tank with the parents . It’s a community tank and all
Of the fish in there have been around angels for a couple of years . The parents are big though
My angelfish is mature enough ... is it possible for me to introduce guppies and tetra now ???
I love you fish boy
Do u recommend dwarf gouramis and angel fish
Hi,Love all your vids, nice and simple.
I have been setting up a new aquarium, took it apart loads of times.
It is a themed tank "STAR WARS" I would like a bunch of Angel fish,as they remind me of storm troopers.
Could you tell me ,do they like black water, and water flow High or Low.
Thank you.
Keep well and safe

Is it a good idea to keep rosy barbs with angel fish?
Please stop with the angelfish videos... IT MAKES ME WANT TO START A NEW TANK WITH ANGELS ❤️❤️❤️

How about cauliflower swordtail? Can I keep it with angelfish?
I have 2 coi angelfish with a dwarf gourami and some Molly’s they all get along fine never attacked each other or anything might just be lucky, also like 6 guppies which none have been eaten their babies are moved into a smaller tank when they are born and then I give them to my local pet store(NOT THE BIG BOX STORE/PETSMART)Or I give them to my cousin and family members who have tanks
Angelfish are chill fish
full grown neon tetras are good whit fullgrown angels
I have a aquascaped 30 gallon that is stocked as following... I do two 50% water changes weekly, and also have a 40 gallon sponge filter in it. Everyone gets along fine. Is this overstocked?
-5 Angels
-10 xray tetras
-4 cory catfish
Tyler Baker na u good
Great stocking and even better that you do water changes that big with a powerful filter
I have 3 loaches with my 2 angel fish in a 100 gallon tank and I’ve noticed that my loaches have started bugging my angelfish pushing them to the side when I try to feed them and starting to give my angelfish a bit of stress. Had to separate them now since my angelfish has recently stopped eating and it might be because of this :/
I have hard water at 300 and no ammonia and I could get the hard down, I change water 50% use Testa easy balance, and Prime, does not help. Do you have any advice for me, Ray
Can u keep just male guppies together
Can i keep zebra nd gourami with angelfish
What’s your Instagram?😂 love the details about Angels they’re very useful
Wait guppies do good with angels? Or no?
I have 8 black tetras, a Blood Parrot and 2 guromi’s with my 2 Angels.
Do you think candy cane tetras would work
Would tiger endlers be okay?
Can u really put gupies angel together?
Hello I am looking into buying some angel fish do you think that zebrafish would be safe with them
I think that should be fine but buy the angel fish when they are young so they will think of the fish as tank mates instead of food.
I have 5 Angel Fish and im planning to add Senegal bitchir ,need ur advice ?thanks
How are guppies allowed but not neon or cardinal tetras?
Is a 20 gallon tank big enough for 2 angels? And maybe some other fish
I'd recommend 4 at least in a 20 gallon cause they can be mildly aggressive towards each other and chase each other too a lot, they best in 4 or more
I guess I'd add you to my aquarium too 😍
My neon tetras were a little snack for my 4 angel fish
That’s sad
Buy the angelfish when they are young with the angelfish so they will think of them as tank mates instead of food.
ive got a 25L tank with 2 baby angelfish & 2 male guppies bought at the same time . Both angel fish nip at the guppies most of the time and during feeding time as well. I've given it sometime and nothing has changed. im not sure why, but im assuming they are being territorial. Im planning on buying a 150L tank and placing my angelfish with a few new angelfish as well. How many Angelfish can i have in a 150L tank? and do have any idea why my angelfish are nipping my guppies?
Angelfish and guppies don’t really get along well. Angelfish are very territorial while guppies are peaceful
How many of the Cory dory cat fish can fit in a 36 gallon tank??
36
my big angelfish keep chasing my smaller angel what should i do to stop the aggresion of my angels?
Get a larger tank or remove one
Unrelated to this video, but what are some suggestions to keep fry alive once they are born, because my platy fish I pregnant, and I’ve never had fry before
Olivia Mullins hikari makes a food called first bites for new fish babies 🐠💜
We had blue Mickey Mouse Platties with our angel fish. The angel chased them around a lot and they got too stressed and died :/
Can I have a dwarf frog with angel fish?
rosy barb?
I have mollys and swordtails, as well as serpae tetras. I watched a couple of vids, I’m starting to feel worried
Can i keep 1 angel fish in a 10 gallon tank with about 20 guppies?
You need a bigger aquarium for your angelfish.
What abt plecos with angelfish?Pls give me a suggestion.
Yes Plecos can be with Angelfish just buy the angelfish when they are still young and it should be fine!
I may have miss this one, but is there any way that I can put columbian sharkfish in with my two angels? Both my Angels are juveniles, my sister brought two columbian sharkfish home, one is juvenile and one is almost 9 inches.. I'm hoping that I can put them in with my Angels but I'm worried about the big sharkfish eating my angels either on accident or purpose.. any advice?
I got a group of 6 cherry Barbs and all they do is hide, lol. Bout to launch them in the cichlid tank
Can I put a kio fish with a angel fish
No
Guppies with Angels? I’ve always wanted to try this but everyone around me says it isn’t a good idea as the guppies will be eaten? Any advise?
I’ve seen many videos with angels and guppies together, and from my research if you buy a basically juvenile angel and put it in with the guppies they should be fine. Angels that are adults raised in single species tanks are more likely to nip and bully fish they don’t know. Think of it like putting a puppy and a kitten together, they’re most likely going to get along whereas a adult cat and dog are more likely to have problems. Granted it does depend on the individual fish as well. I hope this helps.
I just got guppies and I wouldn't recommend you to pit it with angelfish since they're naturally carnivorous so no
I have some advise! Buy the angel fish when they are young so they think the guppies as tank mates instead of food.
@@sharialbrecht4639 i m struggling with my black widows, they are about 12 in total and continuously chasing and nipping my angels 😥
Don't know what to do.
Any suggestions?
Black skirt tetra is actually quite big fish compared to cardinal etc..
What about swordtails?
And zebra danios
Danios are too small. Swordtails should be okay.
❤️🌷👍
I don't recommend guppies with angelfish angelfish . When they get large they kill guppies.
And that's how I wasted 200 ruppees on a pair of guppies
If they are fancy guppies the male betta will kill them. It is their bright tail that sets the male betta off and they fight them as though they are another male betta. The guppy's are no match for a betta.
Buy the angelfish when they are young so they think of the guppies as tank mates instead of food.
Pls show the fish more duration
Can you keep a betta with an angel?
While bettas and angelfish can live together peacefully and it's been done together, it's always safe to make sure you have a spare tank ready to remove your betta if something happens. When moving your betta to another tank you should make sure it's a minimum of 5 gallons, however, as always bigger is always better!
Hello, I have just got 2 Corry's to go with my 2 angel fish, and the substrate that I have is quite Rocky and not at all Sandy. Is this a massive problem? Cheers
if the substrate is smooth it should be fine
yes if the substrate is too sharp it can couse problems to the barbels. Erosion or bacterial infections. It can lead to problems with the barbels and even mounth. Infections as a consequence or barbel erosion can cause serious health problems. Use round gravel or good filtersand.
The substrate isn’t a problem but your fish will die of stress if you don’t put at least 4 corys in there. They do not do well on their own.
I don’t think that will be a problem.
Thank you guys!! Corrys are as happy as ever!!
Can i keep them with danios ?
I think so just buy the angel fish when they are young so they think of the danios as tank mates instead of food.
Where can I get some good plants for tank
I found some good live plants at Petsmart.
You're adorable
My mums angel fish ate all 12 of the neons and a guppy 💀it had to be put in my tank by itself bcuz it’s friend died and they keep chasing the long yellow one
What about balloon mollys with angels?
I think so just buy the angels when they are young and it should be fine
No apistogramma?
Would adult glowlight tetras work with an angelfish?
Garnet Moon glowlight tetras are just white skirt tetras and he named the black skirt tetra as unsuitable so I guess not
@@tijncorman3094 Glofish Tetras are genetically modified White Skirt Tetras. Glowlight Tetras (Hemigrammus erythrozonus) is a smaller, mostly silver fish with an orange stripe running from head to tail. They're about the same size as Cardinal Tetras, so probably not a good tankmate for Angelfish?
I think just buy the angel fish when they are young and you should be fine
Can I have 1 angelfish, 1 gourami and 6 neon tetras in a 10gallon tank?
No I don’t think so that is way to small for that amount of fish sorry to say.
Do angelfish nead to be with other angelfish
Yes they do they will become lonely and probably soon die
Just for everyone out there..ANGELfish not ANGLEfish, tho they are hell a-cute (;
Good point 😂
I was thinking of doing a 60 gal 6 corys, 2-4 angels, and 10-15 guppies. Is this overstocked?
Keep at least 6 in a minimal of 240liter
Do like 6 guppies
@@sharialbrecht4639 Thank you for replying but it is a little late as I have already decided what tank I am going to do.
Ok
I have legitimately never seen one ounce of aggression in any of my community tanks when housing cherry barbs. Any heavily planted tank + schooling numbers = zero aggression even when breeding. At most the males will chase each other but not other fish.
I have mine with a female crowntail Betta, 2 males 4 females. The males spar occasionally but that's about all the aggression I've ever seen from them.
but my guppies attacked my angel fish :(
Don’t know a lot about cichlids and was just wondering if they destroy live plants 🪴?
I don’t think they will
They haven’t destroyed mine yet
Great video as always. I have Bolivian rams in my tank and are stunning. Are bettas ok to go with angelfish? I have a male betta with the rams and honey gourami's with tetra and corys. Thanks
Yea they should be fine as long as there’s only one betta
@@KeepingFishSimple yes i only have the ine betta. What kind of numbers would you recommend angelfish should be kept? Thanks
@@nayanmistry4641 They need about 8-6ph, mine are at 7.8ph
@@KeepingFishSimple thats great, my pH is typically 7.4. What is the minimum number of angelfish that should be kept and is there a particular ratio? Thanks again
While bettas and angelfish can live together peacefully and it's been done together, it's always safe to make sure you have a spare tank ready to remove your betta if something happens. When moving your betta to another tank you should make sure it's a minimum of 5 gallons, however, as always bigger is always better!
can i keep two angelfish in a 10 gallon plz let me know..
No they need a 29-gallon minimum these fish can get 6 inches.
Also, angelfish can be aggressive towards each other. I'd suggest either keeping guppies or shrimp in your ten gallon.
the only way to have garantueed succes is in a group of minimum 8 to 10 angels (the more the better) in a big tank, like minimum 400 to 500 litres. In other cases : medium sized tank and / or not enough angels : there is always a change that things go wrong (not enough space, agression). One dominant male in a small group of angels is almost always a problem, one dominant male in a big group and in a big tank is almost never a problem
They need a bigger tank
My Angelfish killed all my guppies.. NOOOOO
I have a female and male guppies I came here because I wanna know if I get an angle fish if it’ll eat all the baby’s..
@@USMCKIDZ95 I did some researches and it seems like at the end of the day angle fish is part of the cichlid family, so they will tend to be more aggressive on guppies or the fish with colorful tails.
Genius Creative works damn well I’ll try it out if it doesn’t work I’ll get a new tank. I love these fish though
Here everybody who wants guppies and angelfish together just buy the angelfish when they are young with guppies so they will think of the guppies as tank mates instead of food
@@sharialbrecht4639 has this worked for you ? I’m looking to do this but I’m so nervous! Guppies are my absolute favorites but I would love angel fish
Waiting for you to say the electric blue acara
I usto have tetras and angel fish together no problems
My angelfish is around 8 inches tall and around 5ish inches long. He has killed any fish with a fancy tail, small tetras, and other angelfish when they fight.
How many species does guppy have?
Hundreds...
Yep hundreds but I put a 2 Cobra guppies a Fancy tail guppy and two Turquoise guppies with my angel fish
REALisation: im sure mollies platys and guppies are not recommended as they're are fin nippers
Nice vídeo and info. Thanks You. But dude, hands stills please.
You said no tetras because the angels might eat them, but suggested guppies...?
This is the most difficult fish to keep, mine only lasted 1 month and then it just died
Black skirts get decent sized so as long as their big enough their fine.
Can i keep it with my betta fish?
NO!! They can not again along and they will eventually kill eachother,
While bettas and angelfish can live together peacefully and it's been done together, it's always safe to make sure you have a spare tank ready to remove your betta if something happens. When moving your betta to another tank you should make sure it's a minimum of 5 gallons, however, as always bigger is always better!
