All 200 series pedals feature premium audio quality with 32-bit AD/DA, 32-bit internal processing, and 96 kHz sampling rate, plus support for additional control via external switches, an expression pedal, or MIDI.
Rabea Massaad kindly introduce the OD-200 Hybrid Drive which brings next-level sound, feel, and flexibility to overdrive and distortion.
About the BOSS OD-200 Hybrid Drive...
The OD-200’s next-generation hybrid design seamlessly brings analog and digital clipping circuits together for the best of all worlds, putting a universe of expressive drive colors under your fingers. Twelve modes offer a variety of premium overdrive, fuzz, and distortion sounds, including a high-gain Brown mode derived from the acclaimed Katana amplifier series. And with the three high-performance “X” drive modes powered by BOSS’s cutting-edge MDP tech, you’ll experience enhanced definition, clarity, and dynamic response that’s perfect for modern playing styles.
    The BOSS OD-200 Modes include:

◆ Blues-Highly expressive overdrive sound with wide tonal range.
    ◆ Scream-Smooth overdrive sound with mid-focused tone.
◆ Cntr OD-Mild drive sound modeled on the Klon Centaur.
◆ X-Drive-Next-generation overdrive that uses BOSS’s Multi-Dimensional Processing (MDP) for enhanced string separation, increased clarity, and expressive dynamic response.
◆ Dist-Cutting distortion that’s ideal for a wide variety of styles.
◆ X-Dist-Distinctive distortion that uses MDP tech for a superior playing experience that’s unattainable with analog distortion pedals.
◆ Stack Drive-Iconic British stack sound, with range from sparkly clean to a thick vintage roar.
◆ Fat Dist-Thick, tight distortion sound that’s ideal for riffs and solos.
◆ Brown-Lead sound inspired by the original British stack amp, with higher gain and razor-sharp definition.
◆ X-Metal-Wide-ranging modern sound powered by MDP, with superior clarity and string definition even at the highest gain settings.
◆ Fuzz-Bold fuzz sound with big, round tone and rich sustain.

So a buddy of mine had one of these OD200s sent to him last week to write a review and asked me over to see what I thought of it. Seriously, seriously impressed. I got some stupidly good tones out of my Fender amp that I've NEVER been able to get with any other pedal. If you're a Fender player, you know how difficult it can be to find a good drive pedal other than the vanilla TS or Klon style pedals. But the EQ on this is powerful as hell and with the Brown mode, I really felt as I was playing my Marshall. the routing options and gate make it a no-brainer do it all OD IMO. There are a couple settings that I didn't think sounded too great and had some digital graininess, but the traditional analog OD modes were stellar. I promise I'm not a Boss shill LOL. Admittedly, I am a Boss fan boy but I'm being sincere when I say that this pedal is killer. Definitely check one out if you get the chance.

I left a comment to that effect 2 months ago and also contacted Boss with my concerns ( obviously not the only one lol ) to my delight there was an update resolving this oversight ..... For me this is breaking news! I searched so long for an analog sounding overdrive pedal with midi function. There are not many overdrive pedals with presets / midi function. The pedals that do exist are sounding digital, not like the real thing. Now I can swap out some analog overdrives (4 piecies) and put this pedal on my pedalboard with midi switcher! Boss stepped up on this one.

I've never needed more than a DS-1 and a SD-1 to cover my OD/Distortion needs. The OD200 is more than three times the price of a DS-1 + SD-1 and apart from a slightly smaller footprint it just doesn't make sense to me. It's a good pedal but I've been using the DS-1 and SD-1 for so long now I can't justify adding a OD200. For people new to the game though I think the OD200 is worth considering as once you match it to a delay or mod pedal of your choice you'd have a pretty compact and usable setup that covers a lot of ground.

SA is completely digital. This uses actual analog components like clipping diodes, caps, etc. Very different tonally. I liked the Ventris and Nemesis, but for overdrive pedals, you just can't beat actual analog components.

@@LeviBulger Yeah but the LA Lady/Kingmaker are both really good. You can EQ out any of the slight top end hiss that comes with full a/d-d/a.
As I understand it, this Boss uses digital clipping (emulates, ie: DSP) as well as analog.
