  • This is a vintage Pow'r Pup Garden tractor made from plans offered in the early 60's. In my narration, I incorrectly identify the motor as a model AN. I meant to say AB.

My uncle built one of these and as a child, I spent a lot of time playing on it. I lost track of where it went after he died but recently learned that it was passed on to my other uncle who also passed. His widow gave it to me. So next week I plan to pick it up. I haven't seen it in over 50 years so I am anxious to see what condition it's in and whether the components are satisfactory to use. I seem to recall that his had a Buick rear differential but that's about all I can remember. I hope to post it on CZcams after I get it and maybe video the reconditioning progress.

I have one that Dad made around '65 or'66. I still have all of the original plans as well. He used a Wisconsin AEH, '38 or'39 Ford 3 speed toploader and a '48 Ford rear end. I use it around my place all the time for small chores and it works well. All of these Powr Pup tractors have their own charm since they are homemade and I haven't seen two exactly alike yet!

You need to be showing us how well all of these run and drive in your videos. Would love to see and hear this thing go!

Thanks for the walk around! Love unique machines especially ones built by the user. Nice that you paid attention to the original build when designing and fabbing your upgrades. I try to incorporate the old with the new but probably not as well as you! Thanks, Curtis.

I acquired one of these from a good friend, his uncle built it probably in the 60s from looks of some of the parts on it. His uncle left it to him when he passed, he ask if I would be interested, he knows I am into that kind of older stuff and he gave it to me I haven't had time to mess with it yet but have been thinking a lot about it and what I want to do with it. It had a 4cyl air cooled wisconsin on it,but it is locked up I messed with the Wisconsin a little trying to get it un stuck and no success, my friend that gave me the tractor used to own and drive semi truck he told me he had a 2 or 3 cyl diesel engine from a refrigerator trailer I could have so I may put it on the tractor ! I have to go and look at it and take some measurements I think that is the way I want to go! My dad built one of these in the early 60s and we run the wheels off of it , he put a Bolens belly mount mower on it and we probably mowed a million acres with it, two of dads brothers built them one too from same plans they were all a little different one of them put hydrostatic drive on his! Dad sold his in the early 70s and I don't know what happened to my uncles they are both deceased now , I should check to see if they might be still around somewhere!
