    these engines are used every single day in other countries, they get rebuilt over and over again and never go out of service, they even still make parts for these

    Great job and I loved the fact that you actually did something with the engine instead of just having it sit on the ground. Thanks

    I've seen a guy run one of these on propane if emissions was an issue, plus his engine was homemade, pretty sweet.

    This is one of my favorite videos on CZcams. you did a great job on this machine. Most of my friends lived on farms when I was a kid growing up in Ohio. They introduced me to my lifelong passion for any, and everything motorized. I mean really, how many kids are driving a multi ton tractor on the road when they are 10 y/o? I'd like to have this machine in my hanger, for an airplane tug!

    Yep, Intel made processors that rolls back on the clock when the computer is using minimal processor time. This consequentially tripled the battery life on many of the compact laptops that are still in the market today. Apparently the car industry didn't think this could apply to cars too. My dream car? Partially solar charged hybrid with a hit and miss that runs on vegetable oil.

    Awesome machine! such an insight into the early birth of mechanical engineering. From contained combustion comes transportation! This fire breathing machine is simply beautiful. As a fellow Gearhead, I think these old machines of overbuilt technology are simply some of the best damn examples of human ingenuity. In modern times...people drive hybrids and text bullshit to facebook, without knowing....where it all started.

    Very nice work! I would ride the whole day. In the future I look to build something like that, but where to get that hit and miss engine. Looks like they are rare in Europe. But I found them to be very simple, maybe I build a hit and miss engine my own self.

  • @851995STARGATE
    @851995STARGATE Před 12 lety

    Well we already have systems that shut off cylinders called MDS or multi displacement system, I think thats good enough for todays standards if your coasting along on a highway in say a V8 it will shut off 6 of the cylinders and then you use 2 but when you push the pedal down to pass their is 0 lag and all the cylinders fire, Hit and miss should be used for say generators or lawn equipment, things where high power isn't needed that's my opinion or one day they may make a hybrid of this

    @desertfox2020 Před 12 lety

    MDS shuts down four, not six, and due to the strain it doesn't save that much fuel. I would propose keeping all eight firing, but only have them fire when the cars speed can't be maintained. You'd be surprised how far two tons will coast at 65-70 mph, and if that weight also spins the engine there is no reason for the injectors to be firing.

    I see when the young dude pulls on that hook on the left side of the steering wheel it speeds up and "hits" more. Maybe rigging that to a gas pedal and it's more like a hit n miss car. And what's the fastest you've ever had this thing going?

    Nice. I love seeing old engines actually used for something. My only nit that I have to pick is with drive system. I would have opted for a hydrostatic system, just to simplify things and let me use it much more often.
    Also, why are you running it with no lubricant for the piston? I see that hopper bone dry.
