I do too this is where it would shine he wanted it to be a nice daily at the same time and because of that the sequential wasn't the move if he kept it stockish manual it woulda had similar street manners to stock and still boogie but in reality There's dozens on CZcams doing racing like this they are all the same cookie cutter build or the bigger 2000-3000hp builds I don't ever see zr1s like his on CZcams racing anymore
@@ShizzySupra Lot's of Fast Z06's are running an interchiller. The only issue with running them is they get water all over the place and will usually get you kicked out of any strip because of it.
@@Boostedm3nace the long gears wouldn't hurt a turbo car it's the falling out of boost on shifts is what hurts it. I haven't watched the race yet but there is a big difference between an average or sub par driver and a great driver with a manual trans vehicle. Not saying this guy shifts slow but most people do nowadays and it shows. You should not be nose diving and losing ground on shifts if you are you're not doing it right. You can't shift as quick as a modern auto but most people don't realize just how close you can get to equaling it if you can drive.
Congrats Mike... Intangibles are: Because you are running such high speeds, aerodynamics matters....your Vette is much more slippery. Ask Nascar how important aero is. Transmission: Your trans is faster than the Hellcat and delivers the power more seamlessly. Lastly, and most importantly, you are running at the track where you should be. None of this matters without your personal safety.
@@terrymertz1923 the knocking on the auto is the suuuper slow paddle shift response time, not the shift time. Its actually a very fast transmission just horrible response from the paddles.
If you use the proper setti gs it shifts fast. Turn the selector to track mode and push down twice on the center of the rotary knob and then with the rotary knob give it about four clicks to chose race and the trans is a whole different animal and the paddle response is instant.
Love the ZR1⊠the car that originally brought me to the channel. Iâm from BG KY and I see corvettes everyday as I work 1/4 mile from the museum but the C7 is probably the best looking front engine car IMO. Thanks for the vids man. They always make a bad day better!!
The hp90 a8 hellcat tansmission is a great transmission, he would have to had it built up. For his power leve l But it would of been closer.if it was an auto.

I disagree with this. Just because it's slightly faster with auto doesn't mean it isn't fast with a manual. You can go very fast with a manual but you actually have to know how to drive unlike an auto and it makes a big difference. Big difference between great and sub par drivers when it comes to manual transmissions. I respect a fast manual trans car and the driver way more than just another fast auto everyones done that not many go fast with a true 3 pedal manual trans.

I remember back in the day I was running consistent 7.49 - 7.51s in my pullied/longtube/weight reduction Terminator with 26 spline input shaft and t56. Man I miss that carâŠ. It was sad all the people with ported blowers running high 7s lol. aside from a Pontiac g8 gt with a couple bolt ons I have never had an auto car and dont really plan on it. It doesnât seem fun to me to just mash the pedal and hold on. Maybe if it was a huge turbo car⊠maybeâŠ

@@UrbanBDKNY shift speed is determined by the driver with a manual with an auto it's determined by the tune and tuner. Manual trans shifts are not all built equal it greatly greatly depends on the driver. People tend to throw all manual drivers in the same basket.
What blows my mind is the lack of safety equipment required. Looks like all you need is a helmet and stock seat belt. Something happens at 170 you are fooked. You would think a roll cage, 5 point harness, hans and full fire suit would be required for a sanctioned event like that. As usual, safety last till something happens. Why try and prevent something that hasn't happened yet. It took 9/11 before jets had to get reinforced doors to the cockpit and keep them locked. But typical U.S. fashion wait for something to happen first before something gets changed. Look what happened to Shockwave, probably one of the safest vehicles out there. Checks and rechecks before a run, blew a tire. RIP Chris. You see what happens to a nascar when it blows a tire at 170 and those guys are professional drivers unlike these guys.
You should get the new inner chiller. It uses the cars Ac to cool IAT's thus making more boost and consistent back to back pulls. It almost completely eliminates heat soak. Every run will be like a run on a cool spring or fall day

yeah for sure a vette with a big cam is one of the best sounding cars. i also agree that he shouldâve taken the viper at least once. that viper probably wouldâve stomped on the zr1 at that type of race.

Finally back to kicking butt! Weather really affected us at the drag strip as well. Once, the weather conditions were so good, everyone was running .20 seconds quicker and 2 mph faster in just the 1/8 mile! Density altitude was extremely low.

The ZR1 needs the interchiller and some TBM brakes.
It has carbon ceramic, doesnât really need an upgrade.
Downgrade brakes for a street car and no fast ZR1âs run an interchiller⊠thanks for sound advice đ€Ł
