- At 17, Kyle Bryant was diagnosed with Friedreich's ataxia. The rare inherited disease causes nervous-system damage and movement problems. Bryant has symptoms of scoliosis and diabetes, and he experiences vision impairment, hearing loss and life-shortening heart complications. There is no cure for Friedreich's ataxia.
Nonetheless, 30-year-old Bryant comes to CrossFit King of Prussia in Bridgeport, Pa., twice a week.
At first, he didn't think he would be able to do CrossFit.
"I realized that everyone has a certain amount of scale in what they do," Bryant says. "And everyone is doing it to their own ability and pushing their own limits, and that's what I do when I'm here is I figure out what I can do, and then I take it as far as I can take it."
Although the ataxia will progress, Bryant said he will keep CrossFitting.
"My struggle and my goal is to keep my personal fitness at the top of that curve," Bryant says. "If that curve's going down, I want to be at the very top of it at all times so I can keep myself performing at as high a level as possible." - Sport
This reminds me of the saying, "To those much is given, much is expected."
This guy does SO much more with so little, it puts in perspective what little so many do that have been given so much more.
A person's Tires Vs. their motor.
My Respect for Kyle Bryant cannot be explained by mere words. Go man ~ enjoy your life!
Yaaass! I have Cerebellar Ataxia and Im so happy to see there's someone else who has ataxia and loves to do CrossFit like I do!
I felt like crap and had a tough workout this morning. After watching this I am thanking God for the ability to push through a bad day. I love how Kyle just put everything in perspective for me. Keep killing it bro!!!
No more holding it back. You're a beast Kyle.
Thanks for being an inspiration. You're proving to everyone that simply accepting the challenges people face that limit themselves is just unacceptable.
You are amazing, I've taken for granted everything in my life. You have motivated me to get up and get fit Thank you. You are an inspiration to anybody that watches this, whether they know right away or not.
My niece and nephew have FA. You are a great example for kids with FA!! Thanks for what you do!
I chew gum I gain weight and at times I am not the best coordinated, but seeing this guy puts my limitations in perspective.
I work with terminal Cancer patients for a living, it is much the same thing. The things I thought were problems are not problems they are inconveniences. The patients i see HAVE real problems... by biggest concern is keeping inches of my waistline. I think Crossfit can give someone an outlet of self-discovery, and perhaps keep ones moral strong if nothing else. JMO
Kyle, in Finnish we have the word "sisu". You are it. "Sisu is a Finnish term loosely translated into English as strength of will, determination, perseverance, and acting rationally in the face of adversity". Viking support Kyle.
Great job Kyle- you are a Magnificent example of what the human spirit is capable of and are an inspiration to us all!
You're an inspiration for all the crossfit comunity!
God bless you!
This makes me glad that I don't give up. You are definitely an inspiration to all of us xfitters.
i change my comentary, at the end of the video, i could see, the beauty of this.
Congrats Kyle, from the bottle of my heart.
From one Kyle to another Kyle keep killing it man!
This is truly awesome and really inspiring. I have recently discovered cross fit in Northern Ireland and use the wods to help me keep as fit and active as I always was now that I have MS. I ove the fact that I can look up,what has to be done and like you scale it to make it work for me. Keep working and inspiring others:)
Thank you for this story. He is a TRUE motivation! WOW!
INSANELY INSPIRATIONAL.
No idea who this guy is, but I just want to put my arm around him and tell him I'm proud of him - never met him, never even heard of him until this video. We tend to bitch and moan about having to walk a certain distance to get somewhere... even as far as not wanting to get off the couch to grab the remote. We have no excuse for laziness... all this guy wants to do is have the choice to stand, walk, run, or jump... I'm supremely inspired. Keep it up, brother.
I'm pumped and inspired... thank you.
big props to Kyle! keep pushing forward man! your heart is tremendous!
YOU SIR YOU ARE AWESOME! u r a huge inspiration!

Godbless this Guy!!!
Your an inspiration
total respect
You are amazing.
Inspiring!
Way to go Kyle!!
You ROCK !!!
Awesome and super inspirational story! I have tons of respect for anyone that makes time to take care of their body, but it's people like Kyle, who have such massive obstacles to overcome, that humble me and inspire me to do more everyday. The only thing that I disagree with is that there is no cure. Read The Gospel According to Mark 9:17-29. I believe verse 29 is especially for those of us that are "stronger" and "healthier". God Bless!
Inspiration my brother
I'm sorry... but I don't see where I said it would "cure" anything. I am just admiring the purity of his effort given the physical challenges put in his way.
I know that I myself and I am sure that many people struggling through their workouts and being frustrated by physical limitations can be given a better perspective by someone with a bigger challenge that doesn't let that stand in his way.
I myself am not a natural athlete, I have to struggle for every gain I make.
You're a beast!
god bless him got a massive heart
Wow. That's all I can say. - I suppose I can never complain again.
