I bought the R1 saddle 1 month ago and I have 400 plus miles on it. I absolutely love this saddle, I do not feel me moving around in my bibs like the other reviewer said at all. I most recently completed a 72 miler and was extremely comfortable. The very next day I ordered another for my second road bike which is a teammachine.

By far my most favourite saddle as well. Instantly more comfortable on long rides 4+ hours than anything else I’ve used before. No issues whatsoever with bib damage or any issues with the saddle catching me when moving around the saddle. Absolutely fantastic - I guess some people have different experiences but myself and loads of my buddies swear by this saddle. With Fizik’s return policy its a no brainier to try it. I bet you’ll love it.

Re the saddle, it was too grippy so was unable to micro adjust easily, there was too much sag compared with the non adaptive version (which i have gone back to) which meant more pressure i am 92 kg so perhaps it's for the 70kg lot. The holes ... it felt like it was pinching my cheeks which sounds odd but true. Maje sure you raise the saddle tiny bit as its compresses a lot more than the non adaptive version.

I bought the non adaptive version as well to compare and I find that the adaptive is much softer and allows for more pressue in the sensitive areas. The non adaptive does feel a bit different as I tend to rest on my sitbones a lot more on it compared to the Adaptive. The result is that I have to tilt the Adaptive version into a lot more negative nose tilt to get a comfortable feeling without numbness.

    Dr. Steven Schrader from NIOSH:
“When you sit on a bike the pressure on the perineum increases sevenfold. Riders using a classic saddle place 1/4 of their body weight on the perineum. The amount of oxygen reaching the *** typically falls 70% to 80% in 3 minutes. A guy can have his oxygen levels drop 100% but he doesn’t know it. After half an hour he goes numb. Saddles with splits or holes may make matters worse because they have smaller surface areas, and hence the rider’s weight presses harder on less saddle. The arteries in the perineum run laterally and therefore they come under more pressure when they come into contact with the cutouts’ edges. It is no longer a question of whether or not traditional bike saddles causes ED, but what are you going to do about it?”
Your own history confirms that you are not designed to sit on something resembling a 2 x 4 up on edge. The damage is by accumulation. So one day all the symptoms will present themselves but by that time significant damage is done. People 'trash' me for adding these comments but I have sold 42,000 seats and have talked directly to at least 6000 people and have heard every urological condition here is as caused by saddles. The common factor: they all trusted people like this and used saddles EXACTLY like these: the same old same old.
Stop the damage and use a Spongy Wonder

David, have you ridden the Selle SMP Plus, Pro or Avant? The Plus may be a tad too wide and heavy for you, but the microfibre (colour) version of the Plus by far the most comfortable saddle I've ridden to date (I'm heavier than you and almost certainly have wider seat bones). The surface of leather version of the Plus (black), despite the saddle's comfortable feel on the account of its shape, sticks and feels uncomfortable, especially in hot weather. The latter is not the case with the microfibre versions of the Plus.
How do you think does this compare? I wish, Seller SMP 3D-printed their Plus and the Avant and removed leather from their range altogether.

At 1'600g for a 40 wheelset that is already hookless and carbon is too much these days. I have a set that is 1'416g which is actually already 46g above advertised. But they are also 45/55. Not 40/40. That makes a big difference actually. The company's 38/38 wheels are 140g lighter, subtracting that from the actual weight of mine and not advertised, to be conservative (though of course the Corima value of 1'600g is also just advertised and may be higher actually), you get 1'276, which is 324g lighter at essentially the same depth. That's massive. Massive.

The worst saddle I ever tested. It’s comfortable, yes. But instead of sliding around on the saddle (with your bibs ), the bibs stick to the saddle because of the soft material and those grabby holes, which leads to your bum sliding aroung in the bibs. Quite an unsettling feeling, and moreover: bibs are not constructed for that action.

most comfortable, i don't think so, saddle is like lottery even with right ass sized properly, i ride 20 different saddles to find the "gold nuggets"
today i have 3 saddles for my bikes, "2 roads-1mtb" are Selle Royal Scentia M3 & Brooks b17. i not pay insane amount of cash for an 3d print saddle with cheap looks.

Exactly. I went from the Specialized power to the Fizik Argo before settling on the Selle Italia Gravel. When it comes to saddles, one size doesn’t fit all.

One would guess, with 3D printing, a lot of saddles can be turned out fast.
Gotta strike while the iron is hot and get top dollar.

Fizik seats have been the WORST I have ridden. Very uncomfortable and stiff. I have tried two and VERY displeased with both. The best seat I have discovered is an Infinity seat. They look funny but are more comfortable than any saddle I have ridden. I ride between 5000 and 7000 miles a year. I have put infinity seats on my gravel, training road bike and my race bike.

Condidering that 3D print is rather cheap tech, Im surprised by the price tag on that saddle. They want me to believe that running automatic 3d machine costs so much? LOL, no.

I know you have to make a living and cover your costs, but I always wonder whether reviews like this are actually reviews or just adverts. It’s not as if a company is going to give you a product and maybe some cash as well, or a cut on sales, just for you to slate it in the review. Always interesting to watch but I treat recommendations with a pinch of salt.

    • @davidarthur
      @davidarthur  Před 3 měsíci +1

For what it's worth these are reviews and not adverts, there's no pressure from the brands when it comes to my reviews, I am genuinely sharing my honest opinion on how the products perform and if they live up to their expectations. These brands certainly don't give me any money or a cut of sales! That's my guarantee to you :)

If your height, fore/aft, and tilt isn't dialed in, ain't no saddle gonna feel good. The corollary to that is there's no need to mortgage your home to buy one like this. Good grief!

The problem with these 3d printed saddles is they collapse after a few months and won't stay as comfortable as when it was new. Had a specialized mirror one which was great at first but then the honeycomb became soft after a few months of use. Trash
