These are the top mistakes I made at the APP Miami Singles Pickleball Tournament in March. I'm sharing these mistakes with you so that we can both avoid and learn from them moving forward. I'm on the road to becoming a pro pickleball singles player and reviewing footage like this is essential to the progression.

So incredibly helpful. Please do more of these
I love your analysis and how honest you are with your technique.
Your videos are GOOD! I really do learn a lot from them. The big one was take the warm up practice/games seriously. That was such an awesome tip. Thank you!
Helpful video. Your humble approach is much appreciated. Keep up the good work.
really good analysis of your footwork and drives---helpful to know. self analysis of video is so important. In my case,I am always thinking I am doing things the coach said when I absolutely am NOT. Videos are truth
Humility and frank assessment of your game is such a great quality. It will serve you well over time.
hi shea, new subscriber and just find your breakdowns are exactly what I need as a 3.5 player looking to get better....thx for posting your recaps
Keep working hard and improving! You got this!
I donât even play pickleball, but this kind of breakdowns are so interesting to watch. Thanks for sharing
Dealing with the low drop to your backhandâŠ
Definitely 1 over 2 (step with outside/left foot to an open position). Even if it ends up being further away than you thought and need to move more, just shuffle step. But youâve got great reach. Plus, if itâs really that far wideâŠ
ERNE!
Awesome video and comments!
Great vid and breakdown. BTW is that ref 7 foot tall?
Drive mechanic analysis at about 8:46. The physical cues I look for and try to program into myself are 1) is my chest/torso facing the ground at the angle before, during, and after the stroke? 2) Am I the Leaning Tower of Pisa the right way (forwards) or the wrong way (backwards)? 3) Am I a step closer to the kitchen at the end of the stroke, or further, or neither and just spectating?
Hey Shea! Thanks for sharing this video and your takeaways from the tournament. It's interesting to see your post-game analysis and it makes me want to record some of my own games to watch them.
As I was watching, I wondered if you've heard of the book "How We Learn to Move" by Rob Gray. I read it recently and really enjoyed it. You might check it out too if you haven't already.
Keep up the great work! I'm looking forward to your future content.
great training video. I am this messed up at 4.0. It looks like you are young and strong, doing power with your upper body. Try stepping into the serve and returns. find some footwork training. We are alike in some ways. pretty good players , still doing a lot wrong.
Last thought: on drives and overheads: a (major) source of power I donât think Iâve heard you talk about: âcoil the spring,â ie feeling the opposition between the hit-side shoulder going backwards and the hit-side hip going forward. czcams.com/video/Hhhq6BfOUyc/video.htmlsi=q9-ML5k6eaYVt2V-
I've never watched your videos before but within the first few minutes it seems you don't hit hard enough for serves, drives (not deep), and put aways were soft so it was easy to return. Either you need a new paddle, or need to add lead tape or work on your finishes and sweet spotting it better. You gotta be finishing some of those easy pop ups at 5.0
Nice analysis. You have better results ahead of you if you keep working on the details
You're 26. Why are you trying to conserve energy. Leave it all on the court.
I can only watch for 2 mins cause it gets me up tight watching you ha :). But in the 2 mins I watched, you have the lowest speed shortest return I have ever seen at 5.0. Also you are thinking about mechanics way to much. You can think about mechanics when you are drilling but during a game, let your body to it's thing. Conserve energy really! at your age...no.
Go back to lvl 4.0 đ
Rude. This was his first 5.0 and decided to humbly share with everyone. You dont get better unless you get worse first. He is stepping outside his comfort zone to get better. And he will. Thatâs pretty rude to say that to someone who is putting a video out for others to learn from.
