Yep we used them quite a bit on the John Deere tractors. That is actually why they came out with the graphoil style gasket that we used in this video. It was made to be used with the cast aluminum valve covers.
I am having a hard time finding that aluminum valve cover part number. Any chance you have a part number or a source for that cover? I appears that the one for the 425 works, but I'm unable to confirm it.

Never understood why Kawasaki went away from the gasket to the o-ring. I know the early FD620 had the gasket, but the later versions went to the o-ring. I’m guess the o-ring is cheaper to make. Kohler did the same thing on their v-twins, going from a gasket to an o-ring type seal.
Great video, thanks for sharing. This I believe truly applies to all of these engines as I have the exact issue on my Kawasaki Mule 3010. After having overheating problems, melted cover and leaking oil. No gasket sealer here? hmm... I was expecting to you put some sealer over the gasket. I guess you don't need it.
Eshlemania TV after your video I just ordered the gaskets and well now you recommend new plastic covers I’ll buy that too. Mine is leaking very slightly but I don’t care I’m maintaining it to like new condition. Do you know the part numbers for the valve covers plastic ones that is?
Could be the head gasket. But depending what side it's on it could be the water pump gasket or radiator hose. And if on the other side it could be the small coolant line, the thermostat gasket, head gasket, or upper hose between the radiator and the thermostat.

I'd put a little clean oil on that gasket before I tightened down the retaining bolts. It might swell up the gasket a little for a better seal.
We have been using these gaskets for years.
Did ya catch that part number for the gasket? That is a genuine Kawasaki part.

As long as the surface of the valve cover isn't distorted the graphoil gasket holds up very well with no need for any sealant
Hey do you have to tighten tha valve cover bolts with a torque wrench or can u use a ratchet and tighten them like you would a wheel on a car thanks
I dont think the 345 should have been built liquid cooled. It had enough heat transfer surface's to make it air cooled
I’ve got the plastic covers. Do you thinking going to the aluminum ones would be better for my engine.
I'd just get new plastic valve covers but use the gasket with them instead of the o-ring.

How does this match up to a FD440V engine? Running around looking at online parts bins has my head spinnin.
Out of every mover john deere built, they had to build a liquid cooled one.
