I would like to clarify -for those who don't know it- that, the third leg consists exclusively of monasteries that traditionally women's entrance is forbidden for centuries.
What I find extremely funny is that recently archaeologists have found bones buried under a chapel: bodies buried under a chapel always have significance to the place and among the bodies one set of bones belonged to a woman.
The only woman who was there was Empress Jelena, the wife of Emperor Dusan the Strong, a Serbian emperor who spread throughout the Balkans in the Middle Ages. She did not step on the ground because she did not dare, but they carried her. Serbs call that place sveta Gora, I'm not sure, but I think it's a Serbian Orthodox monastery ... it's true that women are not allowed access, even female animals...
That’s not true. You don’t get to the point where the monasteries are until you’ve gotten to ouranoupolis which is quite far down the third peninsula. Since Mount Athos is toward the bottom. I lived on the third peninsula in a village called Nea Roda for two years and there were more places than not that women can freely roam 😆

When I went to Naples I stayed in a really nice hostel called Giovanni’s hostel and he was such a gem and chatted to us for an hour about what we could do in Naples and even cooked us a fresh pasta lunch FOR FREE on one of the days we stayed there. It makes the experience feel soo much better when your host is so passionate about where they’re from!!

I'm Greek and I just moved to the South of France for my studies. I have been feeling incredibly homesick since I had the most fantastic Greek summer on the islands right before moving. Seeing your video just brought tears to my eyes. I actually went to Chalkidiki as well during the summer but only saw a place called Mikiverna. It was absolutely perfect. Thank you for taking me back to my country which I miss a lot. Appreciate your work and you've brought up a passion in me that is travelling with your channel. Keep doing what you do since you're really talented in it.

First leg is a party place. Better times to go (more expensive as well) is mid-july till end of august. It's much more vibrant (especially the beach bars)

Greece looks lovely! I spent a week in Cyprus in August and it was so beautiful. Renting a car is definitely worth it, such a great way to explore places! 😍 This was so such a fun vlog, you two are so funny 😂
I got to travel to Greece in March right before covid and it was my first ever international trip (I’m from the US) and it was BEAUTIFUL!! We went from Athens down past Corinth and Tolo and Delphi. It was the best time I’ve ever had.

You are allowed on the the first half of the third leg lots of beautiful beaches and islands.
for those that dont know, of course you can visit the third leg of halkidiki.... is forbidden in the monasteries called Agion Oros !!!
Agion Oros (Mount Athos in English) literally takes 90% of the third leg and it is an autonomous region in Greece with certain limits. It is not only the monasteries in it. Yes you can visit the beginning of the third leg peninsula before the border of the region which is like 10% of the peninsula.

I got a kick out of you talking about switching sides of the vehicle. I also find it surprisingly easy to switch once you’ve been in the car for a couple minutes. When I (Canadian) visited my in-laws (Irish) last year, people had me super worried about driving on the other side of the car and road. I honestly think being left-handed was an advantage because a. I’m used to having to do things backwards from what feels natural to me, and b. for once I got to actually use my left hand for more than just signal lights!

You can actually visit the third leg, i ve been there plenty of times. There are great places to go to such as the island of Ammouliani and the small town Ouranoupolis. The only place you cant go to is Ayion Oros which is the Mountain where the monasteries are and women are not allowed.
Agion Oros is 90% of the third leg though. They had one week for Chalkidiki
