And Thessaloniki is wonderful. It is full with a wonderful atmosphere, wonderful cultural things to see and do. Wonderful promenade as Thessaloniki is at the sea, and you have the mount Olympus rising 3000 meters straight out of the sea in front of you on the horizon.
- Not even 15 minutes away you can be at *lake Koronia* which at the perfect time can be full with tens of thousands of *flamingo's.*
- You can be within 1 hour in *Halkidiki with the most gorgeous crystal clear waters* you can find anywhere.
- You can be in *hikers paradise* with 1 hour drive to the *mount Olympus* which you can do multiple days of hiking. The mountain has extremely diverse biodiversity and has *1700 species of plants* which is more than some countries as a whole!
- You can be at *river delta's like Delta Aksiou or Delta Aliakmona* within 30 minutes.
- You can be at *wonderful waterfall regions like Edessa* within 1 hour of driving
- You can be at the wonderful *Pozar natural hotsprings* within 1.5h of driving
- You can be at 1 of the 2 *most important birding places* in all of Europe by going to *lake Kerkini,* full with hundreds of species of birds among which the Pelicans. Also the Asiatic Waterfuffalo can be found here.
- *many wonderful historical sites* all around the province can be found like Vergina, Dion, Phillipi, Pella, Olynthos, Amphipolis, etc
- 2 truly *Incredible caves like the Aggitis cave and Alistrati cave* can be visited just 1 hour and 1.5 hour away from Thessaloniki
- Soon *Europe's largest tomb* will be open to the public within 1 or 2 years. The *Amphipolis tomb* is likely dedicated to the mother of Alexander the Great or to his friend Haephestion. The most incredible city in Europe. I wish I discovered it sooner. By far the best gastronomy in Europe, kindest people, beautiful architecture, the most amazing promenade, cafés, and importantly the energy and the buzz - incredible... I've never come across a city with so much energy during the night.

I would also like to add that it is nice to visit the part of the city called Panorama (let's say it's a rooftop of Thessaloniki) and the Military Cemetery for fallen soldiers from the First World War (the largest part is the Serbian Military Cemetery) in the part of the city called 'Zejtinlik'.

@@Figue- Personaly i do not drive and i don`t have any problem, but it depends on where your work is, there are very cheap daytrips in many places around the city one of which is Meteora - one of the best natural, human and divine wonders in the world.
