Dr. Azra Raza is very gifted, learned and talented. There is no doubt about this. My question to her is this: Why does she chose English as her medium when she is discussing Mir Anees, and Ghalib, and Urdu poetry in general? It seems quite odd. I also have a comment on this particular session. She says Anees composed 50 ghair e munquta ( without a dot) bund of marsia. To my knowledge, Anees wrote only 5 or 6 bund. Could Dr. Azra Raza comment on this please?

Dr. Azra...hope you know that your position attained is a result of the effects of the marsiya that you are lovingly engrossed in. Your love for the Ahlul Bayt will keep you going even further. Humble request if you can wear a hijab for the sake of the same marsiya. May you prosper even more..

But i do differ with her on the simplicity of Urdu. Ghalib was all about simple Urdu.

The one who possesses such a profound knowledge of Marsiyas of two inimitable legendaries, presents her analysis with eloquence, should she not not use the language of the two Master poets?
Were they alive and listen to her, she would have drawn flak from them.🙏

She clearly says it’s meant for younger people & the thing is the younger generation is more accessible via English than Urdu

Your research is not correct. The first marsiya without dot is written by Dabeer that is named as" mahe kamil" consisting of 78 stanzas ie bands.
Ghalib sent his 3 stanzas to dabeer & said that I could not complete it, it is a right of dabeer .
Dabeer has written more than 1000 marasi where as anees only 250.
Dabeer has 300,000 ashaar printed till date & used maximum no.of words in urdu poetry. Dabeer was aalim e fiqh & used maximum Ayat e quraan & sayings of ahlebait. He was a poet of persian. He has written peose books in urdu & persian.
