Mrs Rehana Taufiq was the elder sister of poet-playwright Sarmad Sehbai and actor Manzar Sehbai. She was the mother-in-law of former Federal Minister Dr Shireen Mazari & actress Shehnaz Shaikh. Mrs Taufiq passed away in Lahore in June 2023 at the age of 85. Her late husband Taufiq Rafat was one of the most distinguished Pakistani poets in English.

The Ustad brought such sweet and delicate Bhakti to the Qawwali genre that is heard very rarely. His variations were simple, humble, and from the heart. Really a hidden gem amongst Qawwals. Wish there were more recordings of him.

There should have been NO tabla/ dholak. It takes the beauty out of the song. Also, violin creates jarring noise. It should be xylophone or cymbals only, which provides more peace to the mind, whereas violin hightens instead of diminishing the disturbance of the mind. Do not mess with the original instruments. The singer sang very well.
