Our mobile phones have become the key to our digital lives, yet the threat of SIM swaps looms large for some. This week, Josh is traveling to the US and during that time has set up an Efani eSIM for communication. How secure is this mobile service provider and is it easy to use? Finally, who would benefit most from using Efani?

Great video. It is such a shame that these days you have to pay a high premium for decent security.
What do you mean these days? Security has always been a premium.
Yea, it’s ridiculous that mobile carriers know this is a problem and just don’t care enough to fix it.
No one at your local AT&T store knows how to park 💀💀💀
I saw that too. Those big-ass trucks don't fit in the tiny AT&T parking spaces.
Gotta love backwoods Tennessee 😂

Not sure if you’ve covered this, but what about a video about SIM locking. In iPhone the feature is called SIM PIN.
If you activate it, no one could use your SIM in another phone without the unlock PIN. By default the SIM PIN is often the last 4 digits of the PUK code.
But with SIM PIN you can change the code.
Using U.S. Mobile gives you the same advantage of not giving your personal info away to the carriers. The number locking stuff has to be requested manually, and they don’t offer any sort of insurance like efani. But, U.S. Mobile has very cheap MVNO plans so
It seems like for regular people, you’re probably safe by using a SIM PIN, a PIN with your carrier to make changes, and good password. Anything else I’m missing?
the world is crazy you try and be private by going to another company to be private yet they need your details lol
Efani is more about security than privacy. There are “anonymous SIM cards” available that might fit more of what you’re looking for.
Doesn't sound like this is for me. But the Privacy cards Josh recommended a while back are great, very useful.
I get it…it’s definitely not for everybody. Thanks for watching!
Hi josh is standard encryption enough ? Ie apple mail etc ? Thanks buddy long time fan
Thank you! Do you mean standard encryption with email? In whatever case, I’d say that end-to-end encryption is what you’re aiming for.
Can’t wait till they make this option available in Canada
I hear it’s coming soon.
So this is the first video that actually left me a bit confused is Efani like a mobil provider for privacy oriented people thst dont trust thier phone company and you pay a premium to use it? Or is it just for people who travel and need like a burner number and SIM card for a trip ?
Sorry for the confusion! Efani acts as a mobile provider instead of AT&T, Verizon or any other major carrier. They provide the same talk/text/data plan, but have significantly more security for those individuals and businesses that need it.
Thank you for this great information! I learned things yep never heard of…however I did indeed giggle when you said “…this is probably overkill…” because I have an one SE5 iPhone that I only use if I have to drive in case I drive into a ditch I can go Hello 911 help I can’t get out! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yet I am highly interested in home computer security and always interested in all security and I do thank you 🙏🏼!
Thanks so much! 😂
Does this work in Saudi Arabia?
Is efani an MVNO meaning they manage their own traffic?
Good question that I don’t have an answer for.
Hey Josh, do you edit your videos?
Some I do, some I have others edit. Why?
Has att or Verizon added any extra layers of security to prevent sim swaps yet
Probably just enough to not slow down the bad guys but make it troublesome for us customers.
Yes and no. They’ve added some measures but since they’re having to balance user experience with security, the truth is that most of their customers want it to be easy to make changes. They don’t want to wait 14 days or go through a long verification process. Most people also don’t think that a SIM swap could ever happen to them.
is it possible to use efani in germany. here in germany an ID is require to buy a sim card
You can, I believe, but it would be considered “roaming”.
$99.00 per month for a secure sim are you crazy!!!!
I told you that is premium pricing!
@@AllThingsSecuredIs this on top of what you pay for your current Verizon or ATT service?
would an iphone in lockdown mode protect from sim swapping ?
No. Two separate systems.
Any internation services like Cloacked and Efani?
Efani should be rolling out to international users soon from what I understand. Not so sure about Cloaked.
What about a privacy phone like Above or Unplugged?
I'm specifically referring to the SIM card, not necessarily the phone itself.
@@AllThingsSecured Thanks, but was trying to get opinion on those phones.
Why do you need to make a phone call to get an esim?
It’s part of their verification process, I believe. I had to confirm my IMEI number and then was given instructions on how to set up the eSIM.
Josh, are you going to keep using Efani?
If I was in the US, I would. But since I’m located in Thailand, it doesn’t make sense to do so.
@@AllThingsSecured Do you think using MySudo for text 2FA is more secure than SIM? That’s what I’m currently doing
Also, screw AT&T. :)
Haha
He also pushed messages from liberals to my phone with new sims chip. From AIS in Thailand to my phone. because he had the serial number.
👍🏻
🙏
Here in Us no need for all this you can do esim in just like 2 minutes. No name or any kind of informations you have to provide to active your e-sim even no one can swap your sim without account# + Pin code. dislike because falls informations
That's unfortunately not true. An eSIM is in some ways better than a physical SIM card, but it doesn't stop SIM swaps still happen with or without your account #. And yes, you still need to provide all your personal information in order to purchase an eSIM. I don't care if somebody dislikes my videos, but at least do so when I'm actually wrong - which in this case I'm not.
Will i be 100% secure by using tails , vpn and tor browser sir..
There is no such thing as 100% secure. Period.
