Baumkuchen is actually a German word. It means tree cake, the German ones look different, tho. If you want to know how it sounds, you better ask gTranslate, because I have no idea how to explain it, maybe Baum like in town Bowm and the ch is like kh sound in Russian or Arabic languages. If they pronounce it like Japanese, then your style of speaking it, was probably right.
