Imagine marching with this though. 😅 I’ve had the bass drummer run into me before while marching during a parade. I was a quad drum player.
My sister was the only percussionist in our high school's band. And she was a cheerleader. Half time shows got pretty complicated😂

tbf there’s a little tiny slit of space between the middle 2 drums that I’d like to imagine leaves enough space for you to see where you’re about to walk to
if your fellow band members are all up to speed on where they need to be, you don't really need to look forward for a field show, and definitely not for a parade, in fact you're supposed to keep your torso and head facing forward pretty much at all times and move purely off muscle memory and peripheral vision.
Real issue here is the extreme stress on the back of whoever is forced to carry this thing

1992 Harrison Bushwackers had a drum break, all five bass players donned triple-bass drum stacks. They practiced for hours to get their crazy parts sync’d. No other DCI Corps had ever used them before, but I think a junior corps did - not sure who though.

Being a percussionist in middle school jazz band that funneled into high school marching band was the worst. We were forced to participate in a march with our gear and a bass drum was dumped on me. I was an outdoorsy kid and always active, not a crybaby about difficult things, yet that march cemented me as immediately giving up on what was otherwise my favorite activity in school: music. Choir through grade school, jazz band in middle school, then rebellion and guitar all throughout highschool.
Anyway, seeing that massive stack fired up ALL my empathy cores in knowing how heavy/awkward that must be in fighting it to stay upright. And the pressure on the pelvis, omgolly haha

It's because most of them are tuned for their attack rather than their tone. Especially on higher ones.

I played snare for the golden Lancers for a couple of years but absolutely love tonal bass drums the resonance of those bass drums is just insane resonating through the body in person over a phone or a speaker doesn't serve it any justice but great video and playing btw you just gained a new subscriber hope to see more from you man

The spring on the scratch disc is so that it returns to center. Because its only two buttons, you can't have the disc spin freely (or, technically you could but the way Casio implemented it, you can't)
