Eric..my crown brother..I was in the 89 Spirit of Atlanta. The stacked drums also were used in 88 Spirit for the drum solo. The cymbal line played the top four, and joined the 5 regular drums for the solo only. In 89, the top bass was a 16 inch converted floor Tom, and the bottom was a 36 inches. The bottom 5 had rear view mirrors, and legs that could be pulled down. They also glued baby shoes to the legs. Also..if you looked in the air holes..there was..ahem..educational material to view.
Marcus, was Matt Williams marching snare that year? He was the drum line captain my freshman year in high school and taught me a lot of good stuff.
What was the…..educational material?
Cool! I marched snare with Spirit 9 years prior. (1980)
@@drummerchappell anatomy would be my guess
I fully expected you to topple over, lol. Man, imagine if you could get a whole marching band with stacked basses and extreme tenors and.... whatever mega version of snare you haven't yet tried. Always fun seeing what you and Tony G. can get up to.
We had to do this back in the 80's. Good thing was, we had a set of Ultralite with fiberglass shells. I have a tip on how to stack these better. Also we marched with a mixed set of snare and tenor including cymbal. Yeah. It was a workout for a few seasons. We were tough as nails. So much so that we decided to join the wrestling team. We were insane, I think. With 15" Slingerland and Ludwig drums. (Shaking head)
I want to see the Extreme Snare Drum:
32” marching bass drum or concert bass drum
screw on snare drum or tenor harness hardware
screw on snare tensioner assembly
chain together a few snare beds
attach
Is there a reason why a corps has never come out with a 1-10 where the normal bass drums would have drums going the other direction on top to make the weight even for all? What I mean is, first person would have 6 with 5 on top, second person would have 7 with 4 on top, person would have 8 with 3 on top, person would have 9 with 2 on top, last person person would have 10 with 1 on top? Imagine all the sounds you'd get. Imagine how strong their backs would be.
I think a problem with this idea is that even though they would all have even weight, not everyone has even strength, plus less people would be able to get spots. If this is for drum corps then I think it wold be cool but anywhere else no.
@@azxtnt Yeah it was for a drum corps, one with five beasts capable of carrying bass 5. A lighter option is 9 bass drums with 5/4, 6/3, 7/2, 8/1 and 9.
@@HallyPorter i like this idea for a drum corps
There is a special piece to use to stack drums it looks fairly weak but holds the drums pretty well
Good morning!
I wonder if a rhombus/diamond shaped stack could work. Less height, but take up more space horizontally? It would probably "feel" heavier with the weight further away from the body though.
I think it's perfect the way it is, maybe could be improved on a giraffe unicycle 🛞
I kind of wonder what would happen if you tried to make a four pack of bass drums almost like a marching quad
You should arrange 5-6 bass drums like a set of tenors and call them the bass tenors, and actually match with it
RIP back
10:04 your neighbors have to think you're crazy 🤪 🤣
Timber!!!! Dude is about to be responsible for drum lines getting in trouble for trying this and toppling over hahaha
Video 1 of asking you to look at Lake Travis HS marching show from last year. It is called Please be Seated. The show effects are great.
You were born in '89? That was the hey day of the Little End at the 2d Mar Div Band when I was there. Commandant Gray would fly down from DC some mornings just to hear us play colors. A few of us had a little reunion at 8th and I for the last parade of the season last weekend where we were invited by MGySgt Duane King to hang out at the Staff NCO club for the after party. He had served with some of our folks before. Come to find out, the wife of the SgtMaj of the MC had also served with some of us in the fleet with a field band so we got to meet them as well.
Keep up the fun work.
At this point it's more of a caterpillar than a snowman haha. Nice work
12:09 That was clean

🥁 Best Channel Ever 🥁
CZcams recommended I watch this, I’m glad I did 🤣🤣
lol this was great - ‘88 was my year to take on our HS stack bass - oh the memories!
There's a company in Tennessee that maufactures a multiple bass drum mounting
system. Not sure how many basses but I'm sure they can make them to order.
Next up mega snare!
Marching snare, concert snare, piccolo snare& drum set snare & aux 8" snare in tenor drum configuration
Hell yeah, snare sweeps
My middle school had 10 bass drums one year
You should do a sqare of basses like 1 top left 2 top right 3 bottom right 4 bottom left, or really any arrangement
Remo custom made those bass drums for us in 1996 (Glassmen)
you should try to mount them horizontally like quads. You'll probably need to put weights on the back of the harness to balance out the weight but I think it could work....
We had these in the 70's they called them tim-toms they are the reason most ortho surgeons drive Bentleys today.
INSANE
The 89 spirit show was a piece named “Interstellar Suite” by Amin Bhatia. It’s pretty cool. It was composed and performed by the original artist on some keyboards a mini moog, gong and cymbals. My high school did it in 90 or 91.
1:54 I heard this melody before and I can't remember what it's from.
Can you assemble 5 drums in the shape of the Olympic Logo on it's side? Would be easier to reach all drums
Good morning! This is video number 9 of me asking Eric to make a set of tenors out of differently sized snare drums.
I think you should turn a merching snare drum into a marching bass drum
Spirit had the backup mirrors before 89, IIRC.
Our school has a homemade bass drum rack that carries all 5 bass drums, it’s pretty cool since our band is so small.
Are they arranged like tenors?
you should review marching bass drum practice pads 😁
No skipping core, back or leg day playing this setup.
Awesome Last Solo
When your neighbor’s families come visit:
“Carl, there’s a strange man walking down the street…?”
“O yeah? That’s probably Eric. He’s a weird kid.”
Sidenote: Have you been yelled at, “GIT OFF MY LAWN!!!”?
Video idea: Make the bass drums in the style of tenors
Are you ever going to play Double Beat 9000
I feel like it would be fun for you to play and us to watch
I seem to remember SF Renegades putting 7 bass drums out sometime between 2001-2004 or so....
Me realizing Crown used parts from other shows for their shows.
Wow! This drum is heavier than the magic tenors that increase in weight everytime you ask about them!
I’m In jr high 7th grade, my band was playing with the high school marching band at a fb game and I was bass 3 I’m 130lb I holy crap. I felt like I was crippled. My back hurt so bad.
Finally! I've been waiting for this!
Also, in all honestly, I haven't watched for a while. Your beard started grossing me out. It looks great now though!!! 👍
Your hair too! 👍👍👍
Well, I'm running all the ads to make up for my viewer vacation
So now you have to try a whole baseline.
5 drums. Obviously not in a snowman stack
ok - next year at Allentown, EMC needs to play this as he goes between all the lots ---
Extra GE if he can do it in a costume like Nyangostar
The Metal morns the loss of your EPIC Beard Eric...
you should set them up like tenors and march them
Shit, I remember when he said he never knew about a triple stack like a snowman. Now he’s showing all these videos of triple stacks.
Can you do a comparison on different drum head brands (Remo, Evans) and materials?
missed opportunity to jig 2 on bass drums
Reminds me of the Hip Pickles (are they still a group?)! You’re killing it man!!
Side note: I just watched your video on Lars Ulrich/Metallica, and I’d love to see a video where you analyze the “5/8,” “sped up 6/8,” or “21/32” measure in the verse of Master of Puppets.
Jig 2 bass split must see it!
Do you think you could do Jw mitchell high school Marching review? either for its gonna rain, or invasion (if it comes on yt)
You should do this with the Spocks
it's only a matter of time before we see this during a half time performance
If you use smaller drums (like 8", 10", 12", etc.) you could go for 5 or 6...
Was up at O'dark thirty waiting for the NASA Artemis launch ... Which was postponed. So, I went back to sleep until a bit after 8 am. Imagine my surprise to see that Eric and Tony G had another Amazing and EPIC adventure! I will be checking back for his neighbor's comment (Karen Chóde 😜) ... I am sure it will be posted soon!
What if you put the 3rd largest drum on top so that you can do tenor sweep patterns
Oh, sure, DCA will let you INVENT instruments to play at I&E, but when I suggest we do a sax quartet they laugh in my face.
Brass and drums=drum corps woodwinds=band
@@DennisJohnsonDrummer more like woodwinds = band, literally everything else = corps (viz. this year there was a frickin' cello and a keytar)
That's a nice setup but it needs some cowbell.
Perfect solution for marching bands with only one bass drum player lol
A bass drum quads set for another good idea???
You could make it lighter by attaching a bunch of balloons to the top drum.
React to Hempfield marching knights 2021
The good old Future Corps era , minus a couple of basses
You should definitely play white boy smooth on this
Emc my schools show has four base drum parts you should try to play it by yourself
you should mount the top one so it is literally over your head!
The little band im in marched 3 double bass drums and I thought that was crazy, this is just ridiculous
Love you emc
Does EMC stand for Eric Marine Corps?
Nope! Eric Michael Carr … his initials
Love your vids man
5:18 every marine ever.
FUTURE CORPS!
Anyone can figure out what’s needed to make this material and stuff. My school wants to make this for a fundraiser drum battle we had no idea about, so this could spice it up
Video 1 of commenting for a collab between Steven Sassafrass VI and Clarence Boudreaux.
It needs about three more pounds of reinforcement.
Can we get a drumline review of the Destination Calabria music video by Alex Gaudino feat. Crystal Waters?
8:42
Awesome .
IF you were my neighbor , I wouldn’t mind , nor give a “chuck” . Fully support && jam out as well .
..
Drummers Unite
This is funny, but I’m always a bit confused as to why bands without enough bass drummers insist on having 4+ bass drum split parts. It sounds cool but I wouldn’t make one kid carry 2 (or more) drums to make it happen. Just write for the number of bass drummers you have. Simple. If that’s only 2 or 3 kids, then so be it. Write parts for 2 or 3 basses. End of discussion.
adam would be proud
And that is how you stack a drum
its my first year of marching band, it hurts to carry Bass 4, now if i had to carry this...
Count me out
Hey man, how are u doing? Hope fine. Do you give online courses or something? I’m from Mexico. It’ll be cool 😎
sadly doing this for my highschool show cus they’re ain’t enough ppl 🥲.
Imagine how your neighbors feel 😂
89 represent!!!
You should make a tenor but its basses instead of toms
I wish I were your neighbor just on tge off chance of seeing you march down the street with some drum amalgamation.
should put the top one in from of 2 and 3 would be easier to reach LOL
make baritone tenor drums
How disappointing... I'm impressed that you stayed on your feet and they all stayed together. I, like everyone else, was waiting for the crash. You've never marched in a drumline if you haven't busted your ass over drums.
MAKE A BASS SNARE PLS
a back up mirror dosent sound too bad rn
Is it just me or are the two sides of bass 4 not tuned to the same note?
The obvious solution is 22'' tenors.
Honestly it might be kinda funny to just hear a dude come out playing drums and see his drums are taller than him
BASS
This feels like the time freshmen year where I put our section leader’s snare on backwards and bass two on forwards and marched uphill back to the school from our field 😂
Ok, I suck at counting which is why I played oboe and not drums.
Is it me or is bass harder than snare because you're playing several different parts as a section vs all the same like snare? Idk, but watching it seems complicated because there's more space between each note and they would have to be really good at counting where as the snare parts are constantly playing
IMHO marching tonal bass drums are the hardest instruments to play.
