Love how when Older Gohan is talking to a young trunks, he’s so chill about saying “yeah, sure” when Trunks mentions Goku. Like he’s so use to losing him.
When Gohan said "In what regard" at 2:03, after Bulma said that he's just like his father, he kinda sounded like Piccolo for a second. Like he was trying to really stop himself from being anything like Goku at that moment.
Lmao Gohan really took the wrong choice between fighting for the survival of the human race or ignore the ongoing apocalypse, study in non-existent schools and non-existent universities that were blown off the map alongside every city by 2 genocidal Androids to later work on non-existent jobs because they also ended up blown up the map alongside every city by 2 genocidal Androids... yep definitely the wrong choice... and kek totally incredible writing on this point lmao If there's something you should never underestimate in Dragon Ball other than Toriyama's ability to forget is the fanbase inability to watch the show.
Dragon: I am sorry, I cannot bring your father here: Piccolo is here already. Piccolo glows with pride Gohan: I meant the man who fathered me, not the one who raised me.
Regarding the second clip, I think that Gohan is kind-of desensitized to violent death because he personally knows multiple people that have died and been brought back to life via magic. Also he knows the afterlife exists and is pretty chill, so death is more of an inconvenience than anything. That's how he can be so well adjusted despite how many people he's seen killed.
Gohan: I really like training with you dad Goku: I really like training to Most underrated joke Goky didn’t say he liked training with gohan back it’s like leaving someone hanging
By the time Gohan got his fighting spirit Piccolo should no longer be able to hit him. Gohan was way above his power level before he learned to walk. Too bad he never held the spirit long term.
DenZi #4 isn't goku dead by then? And they try to bring him back to life and he doesn't want to come back. So..... look up that scene from fresh prince where wills dad abandons him for reference
I think it's reasonable to suggest that Gohan and Trunks' half-human biology causes them to be more effected by the emotional disconnect from their Saiyan fathers. Had they been full-blooded Saiyans, they might not have cared as much.
That's also the reason why they don't fight for the sake of fighting and doesn't have the same drive to become stronger. They have the bigger potential power wise but simply doesn't have the drive to go over their limit.
Looking at Gohan in "Dragon Ball Super" is good proof. He's a real family man, trying to get stronger not necessarily for the world, but for Videl and his little daughter Pan.
Sometimes I forget that saiyans are cruel and blood thirsty warriors that are born to fight, Shit I mean Goku's the nice one and Vegeta is reformed but god damm can you imagine what their home world was like when someone decided to be normal by their standards ? "hey sweetie where's our kid?" 🤔I don't know , I think he's conquering a planet today or was killed yesterday I forget how many sons we have😒"Oh good I don't have to cook dinner for him tonight"😊
I believe Toriyama mentioned recently how Goku isn't really the "good sayain". He lost his more violent and bloodthirsty urges when he bumped his head, but like most sayains, he has an almost sociopathic detachment with his family. he mostly fights to fight. Vegeta is the good sayain in that he actually learned to love his family and care for them. They of course changed this in the show and made Goku more caring than he originally was, which Toriyama isn't too happy about apparently.
I want Gohan to hate Goku even more like that. It'll be funny of he trash talks his Dad when he goes Ultimate and I want Goku to say "I'm disappointed in you son" when Gohan misses the Potara Earring
If you dont mind me asking. If Goku can teleport and managed to kidnap Dende then why couldnt he just teleport again when he was a ghost and go to New Namek to use their Dragon Balls to teleport the androids into the sun or a black hole and revive Picollo so he could then revive the rest of Earth using their set of Dragon Balls?
My guess is that it's near impossible to escape other world without permission when you're dead so a dead Goku couldn't get out to go get those dragon balls. And when it comes to wishing the androids away, I'm guessing you can't do that to someone that doesn't want to be brought somewhere else like how Goku refused to be wished back to earth
I loved how at the end of the Cell saga Goku makes up with Gohan apologising for how he’s treated Gohan and how he decided not come back because he knew that life would be harder for the others if he was around. I feel like Gohan respected and understood his dad a little more at the end of the saga.
To me their time in the chamber was critically important to Gohan actually bonding with his dad, and all it took was complete isolation from the outside world for a year.
And reminder the second after they get out and finish eating, Gohan asks _Piccolo_ to fix him up with a new gi that looks like _his,_ including cape. It took me way too long to realize how f-cked up that was for Gohan to do goku dirty like that. He just spent almost a full year with him and decided on piccolo's outfit instead.
***** actually, you know when they were trying to wish goku to them "Bring his dad here" but the namekian shenron said no, I thought he didn't do it because Goku isn't characterized as a father ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
@@JinlongTheGoldenDragon not really fact, piccolo kidnapped Gohan and let a 4 old kid by himself to fight against dinosaur and animals that went to eat his for half a year and then spent the other half beating on a child to make him stronger to fight against 2 Saiyan's warriors who can destroys planet's. And after that piccolo doesn't spend no time with him anymore. During the last 7 years he doesn't seem Gohan or call him. Do you even watch dbz? Because you would know this whole thing piccolo been Gohen father is not true. And for anyone say piccolo save Gohen and died for him, don't forget Goku died for him 2 time and save him also. And Spend Time with Gohen and wife been a normal family. Does peopl's believe for real that Goku a bad father without doing any research first and just going on hear say alone? So this piccolo been Gohen father is just a joke that went too far and because of it people's believe it.
@@JinlongTheGoldenDragon here in my case for Goku being a good father or a bad father, I’m going to argue no, he’s not a bad father and I don’t even think he’s what people are calling a half decent one. I’d say he’s a good one. I purposely included anime, manga, movies, Super, GT because I think each medium of this franchise showcases different aspects of Goku’s character. People will argue over canon until they’re blue in the face so why not consider all of it. I really don’t see the “Goku thinks of his family as friends” concept with Gohan. The way he acts in the anime and manga just doesn’t back it up, especially prior to the Android Saga. It feels, to me, that this concept was developed later and were supposed to believe it always applies but I don’t see it. We’ve seen Goku can develop bonds with people and Krillin is arguably the most important friend he has. I’d even call what they have a fraternal connection. He has strong respect and admiration for Master Roshi. He had deep love and connection to his grandfather. These are all different levels of affection and different types so to say he can’t see anyone beyond friendship...that, to me, makes no sense. While he's far from perfect, I'd say that he has got the most vital aspects of fatherhood down in that he obviously loves and cares for his kids. One thing that I think a lot of people overlook too is that Goku was there from birth until Gohan was four which are considered by many to be the most important years when it comes to bonding and attachment. Goku got those vital years with Gohan and I really think it's reflected in their relationship in contrast to Goten's. He was there for Gohan for most of his life, save when he had no choice and was dead. In my opinion, outside of Goku’s relationship with his grandfather, his relationship with Gohan is the strongest one he has. He was around from the time Gohan was born until Goku died in the fight against Raditz (and many more) and those prime years of bonding are evident in the way they view each other. One thing I always thought was worthy of note is that after Goku and trains with Kami, he really takes on that forgiveness and give a second chance nature that we all really associate with him. But what happens when Raditz makes a mention of taking Gohan if Goku won’t help? Goku flat out threatens to kill Raditz. This is not something we see very often from Goku. That kind of anger and downright hatred is something so alien to see on Goku’s face and honestly is quite frightening. We see it again in several of the movies and one of my all time favorites is Goku’s glare to Turles in Movie 3 after he’s attacked his son. That look, that glare and Goku’s just utter “that’s it” is brilliant. I’m a huge fan of the dialogue here, in both English and Japanese Japanese: Gohan! I ain’t sure about the earth but I’m sure gonna save you. And I’m DEFINTELY gonna defeat THAT guy. English: Gohan! You did a good job today but now it’s time for Daddy to take over. ...did you hear what I said? I’m done playing games. This ends NOW. And when Goku arrives to confront Turles; granted, it’s different from Japanese to English but I think it conveys the message so well that I don’t care: Turles: I’ll enjoy beating you, just like I beat your son. Goku: You’ll wish you never laid a hand on my son! I believe in Japanese, the exchange is along the lines of they shouldn’t have involved Gohan. And later, when Goku is all but ready to give up, lying face down, utterly spent and defeated, he can only give his apologies as his friends’ pleas echo through his head. But when he hears that “Daddy...” He gets up. Goku’s decision to stay dead after Cell could honestly be interpreted either way. Personally, I never really saw that as a bad decision. Would it have been better if he had stayed, given that the bad stuff kept coming? Well, yeah, but his motivation and reasoning behind it, at the time, made a lot of sense. There's a saying in counseling that we make the best decision in the circumstances we have. Can we look back on it in hindsight and say that it wasn't a good move, yes, but for the time, I can see how it made sense. As for Goku giving a bean to Cell, again, I can see a side to this that is actually not a negative. Now, does it look absolutely horrible to power up the thing going to attack your child, yes but I also saw it as "I am so confident in what my child is capable of that I'm going to give you a handicap to go back to full power." Definitely not the wisest move Goku ever made but again, I see it as a demonstration of his utter confidence in his son. Gohan's behaviors when he's around Goku really speak volumes to me too. He adores his father and learns quite a bit from him, despite how he starts the series quite coddled and sheltered. Goku’s lessons about the mountain come in very handy as Gohan learns to depend on himself. I love the reflections we see between Goku on Snake Way and Gohan learning to fight and fend for himself. When he's with Goku, alone, in the Time Chamber, Gohan's confidence just swells. He seems to let down his walls and just be who he is which is a great thing to see. I've mentioned it before but I'll bring it up again--I think Gohan feels he can be who he is around his father without having to worry about being accepted or ridiculed or anything like that. There's a genuineness when they're together that I've always loved. Some of my favorite scenes in the series are the downtime. For example, during the movies, Goku and Gohan play with one another in the tub or they turn training into tag in the Time Chamber or just spending time fishing. That seems to be something special for them and I love it. One thing I think people often forget is that the sheltering of Gohan was not just ChiChi. Goku is just as guilty. As Piccolo says “Look how much he’s coddled you.” We see this later on to a T when Gohan has to demand his father stop going easy on him. It takes a very strong verbal assault for Goku to push himself and stop trying to protect his son. And this behavior never leaves Goku. We see it in the early parts of the series and in the movies where Goku never hesitates to put himself in harm’s way for the sake of his son. Even though Goku is very much a battle junkie, his son will come first-on Namek, in the fight against Cooler, against Freeza, against Broly... The latter is actually some of my all time favorite exchanges in any of the movies and is a huge reason I still prefer the older Broly movie to the newer one even if the newer one may be better from a story and animation standpoint. While Goku knows by this point that his son is an effective fighter, he spends a majority of this fight trying to protect Gohan especially when he sees to what depth Broly will go. Broly: Kakarot, how much do you love your son? Goku: Gohan, leave. Gohan: But Father- Goku: Now! We also see this in Super, when Gohan is fully grown with a child of his own. When he fights with Goku, he still has to demand that Goku go all out because the Saiyan automatically holds backs to protect his son. And threatening Gohan is still one of the easiest ways to see Goku lose that goofy attitude. It’s downright dangerous for your health. And one of my all time favorite pieces is in Movie 9 where Goku, being dead and confined to the Afterlife decides ‘screw it’ to the rules when his son is being killed. The fact that Goku breaks through the barrier between life and death to protect his child is one of the most telling pieces of the series. Then you have Gohan and Goten having to struggle not to enter the battle in GT because they know they’ll be nothing but a distraction for their father but eventually they give up on that. It’s a connection that carries well into their adulthood. While Goku does strive for self improvement, his real pride and joy has always and will forever be his son. He holds confidence in Gohan that not even Gohan holds in himself and he doesn’t fail to tell Gohan about it either. Their time together in the Time Chamber shows how much they love each other. Want to see an interesting phenomenon? Watch how much Gohan’s confidence soars when it’s just him and his father. Compare that to the doubts that re-enter as soon as they return to the outside world and Gohan has to contend with different expectations on him again. The only expectation Goku has ever had for Gohan is for him to be who he is and that is damn beautiful.
I like how Gohan is just incorrect about everything he’s complaining about at 0:10 Goku died for his safety, Piccolo decided to kidnap Gohan after doing so, and he sent himself into space because he felt like he owed it to Piccolo
I am so curious how the Father-Son Kamehameha against Cell will turn out in Abridged.. xD You guys think it'll be emotional? Silly? Both? Or just pure badass?
Jean-Mario Brostiuc Yes it will be silly. When Gohan fires the Kamehamaha, Piccolo will appear out of nowhere and fire a Kamehamaha which he learned out of nowhere till they beat Cell.
Jean-Mario Brostiuc cell: there's no way you could win hahaha Vegeta: gohan quick take my piano Cell: what?! Gohan: NEED MORE MAIN C-Character POWEEERRRR!! Cell: I like cornbreeeeeeaaad*slowly breaks apart*
I just hope they give Vegeta some credit for being the Actual reason that Gohan could pull of that kill at all. i am really getting tired by now of all the fun that they make of vegeta for "not being so badass". its like they a beating a rotten corpse of a horse.
3:34 I never noticed this but Vegeta says his transformation took “crunches, pull-ups and plenty of juice” and Goku says it will take “crunches, pull-ups and plenty of milk”
"This will be either utterly terrifying or completely silly isn't it? There is no In between with you" Oh Gohan, how wrong you are. *Goku sings while throwing ki blasts at Gohan* Edit: Holy crap, since when did this get so many likes? I made this like three years ago and completely forgot about it.
to be fair that was the first time gohan trained with goku the fact he sang while fighting is downright hilarious from and outside perspective when reflected on and terrifying when at present considering all circumstances as not only it shows how terrifyingly strong goku is and the gap between him and gohan but also how ruthless he is in training
@@shark2349 Since I never read the manga, I can't vouch for what's cannon. But Gohan did train 3 years with his Dad(Piccolo) and Goku in preparation for the first set of Androids. So I'm sure those 3 years were at least something.

Something about how Chi Chi says "Your dad is dead...for good!" seems hilarious. Like, it seems like Chi Chi has meta-knowledge of the revolving door of death and actually has to clarify why this particular death matters and the starkness and scripted delivery only makes it more iconoclastic.
It's a rule that you can only be brought back once. That is after all why Goku Snapped on Frieza. "He was already brought back once.....he can't come back."
Their relationship is explained in one sentence: With great power comes great responsibility. A renowned philosopher used to say that. Or was it a comic book hero, I don't remember. Or perhaps it was that drunk old guy at the bar. Whoever it was, they were right!

Something someone on Twitter said that I’m gonna go ahead and repeat. “Abandon me for a year with Piccolo" Your father died saving you, and was training for the next battle. "Send me off into space." That was your choice. One you made quite adamantly. "And the next time I see you, you lost your damn body?!" How can you possibly blame him for that?
Goku died to save gohan, Goku almost got killed by vegeta trying to save gohan, Goku almost died to ginyu trying to save gohan, Goku believed he couldn't get strong enough to beat cell but knew about the untapped potential in gohan, and goku died saving gohan and the world from cell exploding
Most if not all of these don't have anything to do with saving just Gohan. More like saving the world. If you wanna talk like that, I might as well say that Gohan fought Cell to save Mr. Satan.
@@ThrowbackJTT well technically Goku didn't have to die if Gohan hadn't got cocky due to which cell tried to blow up so in a way Goku both saved Gohan and the earth as well as corrected gohans mistake
@@JinlongTheGoldenDragon think what would happen if Cell fought Gohan in his weak state? He would lose yes. But before he dies he'll blow himself up in his perfect form and Goku would had sacrifice himself. Cell would had came back and due to his saiyan DNA he would had been stronger. And since he blew up in his perfect form in a weaken state Cell would had been SSJ2 strong and killed everyone
I love DBZA, and this is super funny. But remember guys, this is BS. When Goku married he stayed with his family, Gohan included, for 4 years. Then he DIED, not by his will (obviously) while trying to save his son. He trained because they knew more sayans were coming, was wished back, fought to save earth and was crippled in return. Anyway, Frieza happened and he refused to be teletransported back, ok, but in 6 months he would be back home (and he did) with a VERY useful new skill. He then spent 3 years again with his family, 4 if you count the chamber. Died saving the planet from Gohan's effe up. Sure, we can debate the wisdom of letting Gohan fights but the reasonsing behind it was sound enough: in another timeline he died and everything went to hell, Gohan had huge potential, better let him be able to save the day too. He died and could NOT be wished back - remember, he didn't stop them trying to wish him back, he only said to give up after the dragon spoke, saying that he draws problem - and tbh he kinda does. When, post-BUU, he is resurrected he doesn't leave - he is on the same planet, even without instant teletransportation he can literally run laps around the globe. He can have all the meals and the nights with his family and still train Uub. Honestly, Goku being a bad dad is just a meme. With exception for those 6 months in Yardrat he was always there for his family when he could choose so, and while debatable at least there was more than "let my child son fight the monster" behind his decision with Cell.
Did you ever untangle yourself from trying to eat Goku? Also we all know Gohan is mini-Piccolo did you ever see the end of GT where Piccolo's last words were to Gohan? It's the only moment in that series that I liked.
3:05 This was done very well. TFS Gohan didn't go "oh heell naw" to force the idea that he blindly hates his dad, instead, he asked "in what regard?" in a passive aggressive manner, acknowledging that Goku has few good qualities in him.
SUPER SAIYAN Song Let out your rage Break out of your cage Because your are,at least half Saiyan Your power will rise like never before Just tap into the power beneath your co ore It's waiting for you For you to turn into A super Saiyan *high pitched voice* A SUPER SAIYAN All I wanna do Is see you turn into A SUPER SAIYAN!!!
I really love how three dimensional Gohan's relationship with his father is. The baseline is a joke every fan does, that "Piccolo is his real dad" but gohan still subconsciously looks up to him. He is worried when he thinks he can't revive Goku, he wants to spend time with him right after he came back from Yardrat and in a shitty position, the first thing he does is think "what would dad do?". But after all the training and neglect in the android saga, that respect is long gone at that point and he openly resents him and disrespects him, until he finally gets time to spend with Goku and the walls finally break, causing them to truly love each other again. It makes Goku's death all the more depressing because he left right as him and Gohan started to really 'get' each other. Thankfully, Goku got time to apologise though, which was a very neat touch.
Why do i feel like instead of being a biologist gohan would be the best lawyer on the planet? Also that demeanor change when trunks said gohan takes after his dad? PRICELESS!

Human blood is what makes it easier for vegeta and goku’s kids to get ssj since they don’t have the emotional stoicism of the Saiyan race.

@@youtubestudiosucks978 Plot holes
My guess is that it's near impossible to escape other world without permission when you're dead so a dead Goku couldn't get out to go get those dragon balls. And when it comes to wishing the androids away, I'm guessing you can't do that to someone that doesn't want to be brought somewhere else like how Goku refused to be wished back to earth
He was never an adult.
I loved how at the end of the Cell saga Goku makes up with Gohan apologising for how he’s treated Gohan and how he decided not come back because he knew that life would be harder for the others if he was around. I feel like Gohan respected and understood his dad a little more at the end of the saga.
I KNEW I recognized that song at 4:10. Its the Giant Woman song from Steven Universe.

@@JinlongTheGoldenDragon czcams.com/video/y0ANXdmdWCg/video.html
@@JinlongTheGoldenDragon here in my case for Goku being a good father or a bad father,
I’m going to argue no, he’s not a bad father and I don’t even think he’s what people are calling a half decent one.

*"I don't really know anyone my own age"*

Gohan: I'll reck your home world-
Goku: Hey Son
i love the how he gets more and more dissappointed as the video goes on
Why do i feel like instead of being a biologist gohan would be the best lawyer on the planet? Also that demeanor change when trunks said gohan takes after his dad? PRICELESS!
"Sent me off into space"
Umm Gohan that one is kind of on you cause you're the one who wanted to go into space in the first place.
@Long-Tailed Charmander Yes but he's mad it resulted in a Suicide Attack on Goku's part.
