    In this video, I show you how to make silver solder using your scrap sterling silver and brass. This is a great alternative to purchasing it from other companies, and a great use for you scrap bits from jewelry making.

    This is incredibly helpful, thank you!
    I can't wait to file the ingot of solder into tiny flakes, and it'll be so easy to stamp the hardness or flow temp into the bottom to keep everything tidy!

    Thank you so much for this. Really like the idea of just making my own solder. Makes the craft feel more real in a way. Thanks for making the video and explain so well! Really inspiring and helpful :)

    Good thing i have plenty of both sterling and brass. There have been times when i ran out of solder and stopped the project in it's tracks.
    Next medium solder?

    Thank you. I'd love to know the amounts to make medium and soft solder.

      You basically just increase the amount of brass to make it "softer".

    Hello my dear brother, I want to know if you have 10 grams of silver, how much copper do you add to the silver and how much does it weigh until it becomes 925 karat?

    • @viciouscircledesigns
      @viciouscircledesigns  Před 8 měsíci +3

      .81g of copper would make it .925 Sterling. Divide whatever amount of .999 silver you have by by .925. (x/.925)

    Can I use just silver?

    • @viciouscircledesigns

      You can use .999 silver to make the solder, but you will need to add some copper in the mix to make it .925, then add the brass. However, if you are making your jewelry pieces out of fine silver, you won't really want to use this solder.
