How to Make a Pendant from Wood Cast Silver
zhlédnutí 1,1KPřed rokem
#jewelry #jewelrydesign #howtomake I was inspired by recent organic metal casting videos, and decided to try something a bit different. I have some old split and cracked driftwood that I wanted to experiment with. The results were great, so I decided to make a silver pendant from the casting. #jewelrymaking #sterlingsilver #metalart Music: www.epidemicsound.com/track/whle8Qez8O/

How to Make Glow in the Dark Resin Parts
So how to separate copper from gold, melt it is possible? Thank you sir
@@my1234tien This takes some chemistry that I have never done. You can look up gold refining on CZcams and probably find some good info.
@@viciouscircledesigns refine by chemical ( acid nitric ) , can not melt ?
@@my1234tien You can melt it for sure. But it won't separate the metals in the alloy.
Very informative, keep the good work going.
What is the ratio for easy and medium please
Erm, actually, a 12mm x 12mm x 20mm “cube” is not a real cube. Cubes are equal on all lengths. This shape is a rectangular prism. Will not watch again 🤓
You got me!
Could I take a machine made silver ring and hammer it to make it look like this? Keeping it the same size
You could hammer it a little. Any hammering will spread some silver, making it a bit larger size. So if you could get a half size smaller than you need, you should be good.
Thank you. I'd love to know the amounts to make medium and soft solder.
You basically just increase the amount of brass to make it "softer".
Good thing i have plenty of both sterling and brass. There have been times when i ran out of solder and stopped the project in it's tracks. Next medium solder?
This is incredibly helpful, thank you! I can't wait to file the ingot of solder into tiny flakes, and it'll be so easy to stamp the hardness or flow temp into the bottom to keep everything tidy!
I love it… it’s so organic looking, thanks, Michelle
That looks really nice and it looks super thick…
awesome! what's the ratio for easy solder?
Saved to my personal jewelry making play list. Thank you.
You are so welcome!
Thanks so much, nice job.
Glad it was helpful!
Can I use just silver?
You can use .999 silver to make the solder, but you will need to add some copper in the mix to make it .925, then add the brass. However, if you are making your jewelry pieces out of fine silver, you won't really want to use this solder.
Is it possible to etch a silver ring only after you've soldered it?
Absolutely. The only weird thing with this technique is that the etch will be stronger on the surface that is facing the plate.
Hello my dear brother, I want to know if you have 10 grams of silver, how much copper do you add to the silver and how much does it weigh until it becomes 925 karat?
.81g of copper would make it .925 Sterling. Divide whatever amount of .999 silver you have by by .925. (x/.925)
Thank you so much for this. Really like the idea of just making my own solder. Makes the craft feel more real in a way. Thanks for making the video and explain so well! Really inspiring and helpful :)
Glad it was helpful!
Hi I would like to know which solution work for silver. Thanks
Copper Nitrate or Cupric Nitrate. I got the grains and dissolved them in tap water.
Why no comments ? Thanks for taking the time to make this video and share it.
Thanks. Happy to do it. I think sharing knowledge is the best practice.
Do you sell your rings ?
I don't currently. I would like to get to that point one day. It takes me quite a while to make anything at the moment since I am just starting out learning the craft.
Beautiful
Thank you so much!
lovely ❤🤘👍️
Thanks ✌️
It looks absolutely fantastic 👍
Thank you!
Use a 2 to 1 epoxy resin. Cures slow so you got longer work time. Also cures clear. I use the lets resin brand
Makes sense to me. I will definitely try it next time.
What torch are you using? I'm just starting out with melting various metals to create ingots n such.
Smith Little Torch running on oxy/propane. Using a rose bud tip.
I love this!
Thank you! I really liked this too. I definitely want to explore this more.

I would pay to have one of these. 💸
Noice! Ask Krampus for one for Crihmus! He may just bring you one.

damn this is making me want to watch the show lol
Yeah man. Sad that Henry Cavill is leaving.
Maybe you should make some earrings for your wife or something.
Good idea!
Love your vids man! Keep up the good work 💪
1:36 that piston tried to run for its life 😂
Totally intensional... 😏
stay “tuned” haha
Unintentional PUN.. Nice!
why dont you use the epoxy without the paper? hah
It stuck in the mold because you were wrapping the paper with gloves full of glue.
Talk a little slower and you can eliminate all the "ummmms". Or think about what you want to say and say it.
Nice video fella! Hobby lobby has some nice cardstock in all kinds of colors.
IT'S "CARD STOCK" PEOPLE!!!!!!! YOU CAN GET IT AT WALMART!
What kind of paper (stock) are you using? What should I look for an Amazon when I shop for this stuff, do you have a list?
InkwellFoto cardstock for scrapbooking is what I used. You can use whatever kind of paper you want as long as it soaks up the resin and had a little “tooth” to it. Resin is just standard fiberglassing resin. Polyester resin to be exact.
Vicious Circle thank you, I didn't realize how simple this was. I want to give a shot at building my own pistol grips.
How much of that quart did it take?
If I remember correctly... I used 4-6 ounces. I probably should've used more. I always like to mix a bit more then I think is needed.
Vicious Circle thanks
Uuummmm this vid uummm is cool and all uuuummmm there uuummmmmm something uuummmmm about it that's uuummmmm kind of uuummmm off uuummmmm about it uuuummmm?
Mr. Saephan ummmmm.... thanks? Do you make vids as well? And btw.... COOL profile pic👍🏼
Enjoyed the video. You might want to watch the umms and ahhs
eeeehm.
nice vid.. just a heads up.. if you lay saran wrap in your press first you won't have such a mess of a time getting your micarta out of the press and you won't have parchment paper stuck all over inside it
Ryan Hilldale thanks man! I will try that for sure! Definitely makes sense!
excellent! video
WHERES THE NEXT VIDEOOOO!!!!
Next one coming in a couple days. Had a small setback with mounting hardware so I had to find a readily available alternative.
What type of paper do you use?
Godaresgod Ares In this one I used scrapbooking card stock. You can use any kind of paper as long as it has some tooth to it. I just picked this one because I wanted a thick piece of micarta to work with. Hope that helps!
First video of yours I've seen. I'm highly surprised you've only got 20 subs. Please continue what you are doing.
Lucy Lauridsen Thanks! Guess I just have to keep putting out the content more consistently! 😅
i think you should show more of the finished product great video though
2LateIWon/Organized Chaos Thanks for the feedback! Still trying to hone my video making process.
It's a learning process my friend. It never ends lol Keep up the good work
