When a singer/song moves you to tears that certainly says all you need to know, and is not something most singers can do.

Now you just need to hear That Girl Don't Live Here, it's a banger. A mix of jazz, swing and rock.

Who ever requested both videos I think is very intuitive to show just a few sides of what she can do. From one end of the spectrum to the other. She's got real chops and a diversified talent. Many people enjoy her rock side, but there's also many, who at the very least, appreciate her obvious talent to sing and perform any genre she chooses and at optimum levels. She has a genre and skill level for everyone to enjoy. On top of all she has to offer, she is also getting very skilled at self promotion and all the other facets it takes to run a successful (music)business. It may take time to learn the ropes in any business, but Courtney seems to pick up on things quickly. I won't be surprised to see her have her own independent label/production company one day. I think she learned that only she will get her to where she wants to be fairly. Screw me once, screw me twice, but never screw me trice, (is that even a word) ?

COOL Always loved a double-header ball game. As for Monsters, love the song, a true banger. It finally got her a debut onto Billboard's charts at No.19 on week of 14 Oct 2023, it was on the 'Hard Rock Digital Song Sales' chart. Right there mixed in with Queen, and a host of other bands from back in the day. 19 of the top 25 songs, were all OLD rock bands with OLD hits. Ms. Courtney fit right in, IMHO.
THANK YOU for fitting that one in. Love her Monsters! We'll see on Nov 24, iirc, what her 'Christmas Rocks' turns out like. I suspect another banger, and some word play in the lyrics. She DOES come from old coal mining region in the North of England. We shall see.

How many singers do you know that can make you feel the song Courtney is singing? She brings out the feeling and the emotion.

Loved your reactions. Thank you for sharing, and for supporting this hard-working young artist, Ms. Courtney Hadwin. In the released track, the phone call isn't in there. Was added to the later music vid. My presumption has always been that it was meant to add ambiguity (for those convinced this song was about a romantic relationship), although betting seems to be running high that it was a telemarketer interrupting her trip down memory lane over a dear departed relative. Another GOOD songwriting trick.
She's learning a lot from collaborating on all 4 originals released so far this year with Emmy award winning songwriter, producer, musician Kevin Bowe from Minneapolis. Her fundraiser exceeded her target needed to help cover travel costs to go to his studio and finish her debut album, finally. She's been so anxious to release her original music for so long, and kept getting told by label(s) "Soon" throughout pandemic. Lost SO many followers during those years.
Imagine how different things would have been if Woodstock 50 anniversary festival had not failed...with Ms. Courtney on billboard as youngest artist with a set on their BIG STAGE back in August 2019. I'm pretty sure the album she was working on then. Now IP of label(s) I presume, don't know how those contracts worked out, what her financial damage was from the 'advance' they 'gave' her (if you know the music industry, you know that's just a VERY EXPENSIVE loan at ruinous interest rates with draconian terms and conditions). However it happened, she'd indie now, doing HER music done HER way, rather than whatever changes they tried to make in her. She has released snippets of yet another many songs on YT Shorts, two of which seem to be about body-shaming and proper behavior like a Disney princess.

Just a thought. Not knowing what the terms of her original contract were with Simon or Arista. Those terms may have even been erased when Simon dealt away his artists in that sale/swap he made with Sony (who is the mother company of Arisa). But if the terms included a loan/interest to get paid back and she still has an outstanding debt to repay, there's always a way out using the law of the land filing bankruptcy before you have any significant worth. Been done by people many times over, including myself when you're not in a position to get out of the hole.
There's been a number of artists who went down that route who made it big. That's when the courts get involve. Laws are set up today more for the lesser financially successful people to get another start. TLC has and will be battling in court with Arista/Clive Davis for years to come after filing for chapter 11, but in that case they already made it big. Here's a link that relates more to Courtney's status. www.hrbeklaw.com/will-i-have-to-pay-back-the-record-company-if-the-album-is-not-s.html

@@bertpainter8385 good points. I also HOPE that her legal advisor also negotiated some form of Non-Performance clause that might have protected her and held 'label(s)' over a barrel. Or pandemic may have triggered some Act of God clause that freed her. Lots of possibilities, no idea what actually happened. But I'm hoping for the best, as I know y'all are too. So very glad her fundraiser to go work onsite with Kevin in studio exceeded her target amount. It's frustrating not being able to do more to help.
I was looking at a Korg 76-key PA5X Arranger keyboard and thinking "Damn imagine what music that young lady could make on her own with that!" Then I saw the price tag. Champagne appetite on a budget beer budget.

Beautiful reactions to both of these. These two songs really showcase her dynamic range, from heartbreaking ballads to fun Rock, but still with poignant messages delivered. This friday, she is going to release a song called Christmas Rocks. I hope that you can get to react to that one soon.

Hi Guys. Nice reaction(s). Courtney is truly amazing. You've reacted to a number of Courtney's songs, so you have some idea what she is capable of, but just from these two songs, you can tell a number of things. First, and most obvious, her vocals are phenomenal. The kind of vocal power, control and versatility she has is unmatched. You just watched her sing one gorgeous, gut wrenching ballad (Call Me Back) followed by a blow the roof off rock performance (Monsters). So next, you can now get some idea of the incredible range that she has. Whether it's Rock, R&B, Funk, Soul, Ballads or more, she can sing it all, and the most incredible thing is that there is never a drop off in the fabulous quality of her music. Third is the passion and intensity with which she sings. No one sings with more heart and soul than Courtney does. Add to that, that she dominates a stage like no other when she is rocking out, that she is a powerhouse as a songwriter, and also plays a mean guitar, and you'll understand why so many of us consider Courtney a generational level talent.
It's now that Courtney has gone independent that she has truly come into her own, after overcoming so many obstacles to be able to release her original music. First was Covid (which delayed her debit album by over two years), then her label was sold, which led to so much more chaos. Add to that, that her label had spent the last years trying to turn her into something she didn't want to be. Another pop princess. Can you imagine that magnificent voice you just heard being limited to pop music. Fortunately Courtney held her ground and walked away from her label as soon as she could, at the beginning of this year. Her first three independent releases were all non-rock and all were sensational. First, there was the gritty ballad 'Breakable', then there was her uptempo jazzy number , 'That Girl Don't Live Here', and then the intense 'Call Me Back' (reacted to here) that will break your heart every time you listen to it. However, it was only a matter of time before Courtney was going to return to her rock roots and release a song that unleashes her incredible vocal power, and her fourth release, 'Monsters' (the second reaction in this video) was it. An absolutely incredible rock anthem.
Can't wait to hear you react to more of Courtney's music. Courtney's talent is like a diamond, with many facets, each one shining as brightly as all the others. You've still have only seen parts of what she can do. She is scheduled to drop a new Christmas original, 'Christmas Rocks' on November 24th, and the clips she has shared have been fabulous. However, I don't know what she has planned in the way of a video with this song or the timing, so keep a look out. It would be great to see you react to it.

Not one of her songs are like the other. She’s amazing and I love her style. This is also a good advocate for mental health. I’d love it if you watched That Girl Don’t Live Here, not too many reactors have noticed it yet, but it’s one of my faves. And her suit in that well, you’ll see.
