Did you notice how the conductor kept looking back at Courtney with a giant grin on his face!?!? When Courtney rocks...she shines.

Hi Faith. As always, a great Courtney reaction. Always good to see you. What an incredible performance. This was on April 29th. The New York Pops honored Clive Davis with a huge concert at Carnegie Hall. Everyone who is anyone in music was there. Courtney was invited personally by Clive to open the show. She blew off the roof and the doors and brought the entire audience to their feet at Carnegie in a standing ovation with this rip roaring, stage dominating rendition of Janis Joplin's 'Piece of my Heart'. Janis was Clive's first signee. It was unbelievable. Courtney shared the stage with many all time greats tied to Clive like Barry Manilow, Dionne Warwick, John Mellencamp, Busta Rhymes and many more. The New York Pops released this 2+ minute clip of her performance. It now has over two million views on the Pops site (along with 2.6M on TikTok). By far the most views of any video the New York Pops has released since they started posting in 2014. Too bad they didn't release the whole thing, because Courtney's full performance was spectacular. So far it's the only individual performance that the Pops have released from the concert. Kind of says something about how fabulous they thought it was.
If you watch the conductor, rather than Courtney (which is hard when she just nailed the song), the conductor sneaks a long peak at Courtney's performance instead of remaining focused on his musicians. The look on his face says it all. The same can be said for the guitarist. Let's be real. If you were on stage, 15 feet away from this magnificent performance, how could you not help but sneak a peak. It's not very often that you get to hear the voice of a lifetime. It was mind boggling hearing her live. Take how great she sounds digitally, multiply it by ten, and that gives some sense of how sensational she sounds live. She truly is a generational level artist. I think you hit it right when you said 'icon'.
Latest news on Courtney is that she has just finished recording the original songs for her debut album. They still have to be mixed, and there will be a single or two released before her full album drop, but the day is getting close. The clips she has shared of her album songs have been fabulous. Her album will be epic. There will be a lot more Courtney music to react to soon. Can't wait for you to hear what she has in store for her album.

She has recently finished off recoding her album, all original songs (and the ones she released last year will not be on it). Apparently there is 10-20 songs on it. I cannot wait.

Hi...Great reaction...I agree with you about Courtney Hadwin. I'm a little older but I was a fan of hers since her AGT performance at the age of 13. She seems to be maturing into a legendary singer and performer. Carnegie Hall is a big deal for any musician and she's only 19.I think her first album is coming soon.

Glad you came back to Courtney, Faith. She will be 20 in July and is on the verge of releasing her new album and energizing her career. The Carnegie Hall opening indeed was a big deal, as explained by Ed. You obviously understand Courtney's star power, and there is plenty more to come!

What shocked me is an orchestra playing a rock song as many will know this is unusual. For Live singers to sing in front of an orchestra is actually difficult because unlike a band you can't communicate and must know the timing to sing too. Proof is Opera singers live performance can miss the timing down to the conductor to either stop start again or change with the singer. So to sing in front live with an orchestra must had been very scary. But to perform like it was born in to it that is special.. I will say this out of all the top different fitting in singer Connie Talbot Courtney Hadwin and Angelina Jordan are the only ones That do things their way under their own control.

Music is subjective to ones' taste. But no one can deny her talent and stage presence. She got applause during and a standing O afterwards. She was well received there. Even talk about her was going on backstage with others like Dione Warwick etc.

I'm truly sorry that you don't appreciate this style of music that Janis Joplin started in the mid-1960's. This performance is SOO reminiscent of Janis' performances, though not quite as...hectic? Ms. Courtney is VERY GOOD at this style, but that's not all she does.
Please take a listen to some of Ms. Courtney Hadwin's original music, as she sings a large variety of styles, crossing genre boundaries and melding influences as most musicians, singers, and songwriters of the 1950's and 1960's were doing. She truly is creating anew that revolution that brought us most of what we think of as modern, today's, music. What'll she create, doing her GenZ reboot, if you will, of that revolution? We see hints in the 5 original singles she self-released in 2023.
In fact, we have three amazing GenZ young ladies, each in their own 'lane', both respecting the past (as I posit this performance by COURTZ did, with Mr. Clive Davis himself sitting there taking it all in) and creating a new future for GenZ's take on what should THIS age's music be? Many other great artists out there, even from this youngest generation. But these three are really something SPECIAL! In order of age: Ms. Courtney Hadwin. Ms. Angelina Jordan. Ms. Daneliya Tuleshova.
Try the three playlists on my channel of each of those three in their younger years (yanno, BEFORE they hit 16yo). Each in her own right will AMAZE you.
Ms.Courtney has had to work extra hard to figure out how to do the things her heroes did in the CZcams videos of them she STUDIED, carefully, as a preteen. She reminds me a lot of Mick Jagger (one of the greats she studied), who himself studied those great artists before him, including James Brown, Etta James, Little Richard, and so many more whom Ms. Courtney also studied. She has truly mastered the many rock, R&B, blues-rock, blues, soul and more techniques and genre-specific styles, especially her AMAZING rock growl with the CLASSIC old-school black-church-gospel vocal squall technique. Yet her quiet and powerful song 'Call Me Back' just rips your heart out...the DEFINITION of LOSS and that special kind of SORROW.
Both Ms. Angelina (AJ) and Ms. Courtney (COURTZ) load up their best songs with so much emotion, passion, feeling and share it so effectively with their audiences. And young Ms. Daneliya is really exploring, very successfully, her own range in this regard with her last three or four singles, too. These kids are truly amazing, IMHO. Each of them doesn't ONLY fit in only one genre. They each are much broader in their influences than that. IHMO. YMMV.

You can say what you want. I wonder if you are able to actually articulate in more detail your extreme minority viewpoint (which all great artists experience, of course)?
