- The Rocky Mountain ATV/MC Idaho Adventure Tour builds off the famous 1,250 mile Idaho Backcountry Discovery Route but has been modified to a loop ride instead of the standard out and back route and showcases some of the best ADV riding in the state. After weeks of studying maps and combing through different routes, we've come up with a breathtaking ride that snakes 1,400 miles through the heart of four Idaho National Forest areas, historical landmarks and towns that are sure to impress even the most seasoned adventure rider.
As part of our RM Rides series, we’ve documented the ride and put it together in a video series and companion blog post, making it easy for you to plan your own Idaho adventure ride. We’ve provided the GPS files below so you can follow our same route.

Love your videos. You make the Internet a better place!
Enjoyed the behind the scene footage of what it takes to film all these. Kudos
I love these series, the 5 miles of hell, the extreme enduro and the other adventure ride series are top notch, you guys do an amazing job on these videos
Been waiting for this one. With a high predicted of -1, think I'll set back with a cup of coffee and think about better days ahead.
Looks like an amazing trip. Thanks for releasing all the episodes at once! I'm gonna binge watch them all!
That was the intention! Enjoy them!
Tese vids are Awesome! Perfect timing since this cold front has us all in the house.
Thanks for this video series. I just finished all 7 and it makes me want to go ride.
My non-riding friends miss out on all this fun. Too bad for them
So sick. Thank you brothers!!! Rock n' freakin' Roll!!
Came all the way from Australia just to take this ride and loved it!! I reckon I binned the bike exactly where Justin did
This is going to be good.
Binge watched the first 4 episodes last night. I like the idea of doing this as a loop, that way people can jump on the route at various points, depending on where the live or if they want to trailer their bikes in and leave their truck/trailer parked somewhere like your group did.
Idaho is on the list.... Love it!
This is what true adventure riding is...👍
Rode Idaho in 2017 and some of the same route. Most beautiful place ever.
2:34 “It’s quite a ways north” - buddy, there’s a country called Canada up there. It’s not so bad.
This looks good!
Watched your adventure tonight. Amazing single track Trail Heads you passed by.
We discussed that over the PackTalk system the whole time. We even debated pulling some luggage off, and doing some extracurricular exploring 😁
Professional video and a nice look into what it takes to do your rides.
It baffles me how you guys can have such a huge crew, but all still totally overpacked. I dream of riding my long distance trips with a partner, just to split the few things I bring.
It seems like a bunch of ADV riders on YT feel like there's some sort of trophy for packing as much as possible. Like they have to justify having a bike that can carry everything by literally carrying everything. I don't get it, but I support the idea of enjoying your ride, your way...so if that's your thing then more power to you!
I can confirm, Iowa is AMAZING! See you in Des Moines. #iowa
Welcome to the superior state ;)
What the heck. You guys were riding here and i didn't know!? Love your riding videos!
Hey, when we gonna do one of these on the TW200's?!? Great video! That Tenere sounds awesome!!
Josh did a great explanation on the camera gear and cameras you guys use. My question is what gopro mounts and where are the best places to mount the gopro for great shots. I'm doing the norcal BDR soon and would love to get some tips and tricks so I can make a good little video of my trip. Thanks for the great videos, and keep them coming!
That’s it? All that waiting for a premier LOL
The rest of the series is ready to watch!
@@joshprows5305 just notice. Thank you.
Hey! I love your videos! They are super entertaining and so well done. I have a gear question. What made you run the cardo packtalk system over the Sena 50s, or other communication systems? My wife and I have Sena 50s that we use on our GS Adventure and love them, but I also lead off road dual sport rides and I'm wondering if the Packtalk is better for off road. What are your thoughts and why did you go with the packtalk? If you were starting out fresh and encouraging your buddies to go Cardo, or Sena for off road rides, what would you do? Thanks for you time.
Lots of support vehicles for those ktms and huskies.
The panhandle is the best part of the state
***Rocky Mt. High..Be safe 👽Atlanta 🇺🇸
Going to use this in planning for my own Idaho ride, and am really enjoying your video.
What would really help, but seems to be missing from most You Tube videos is the dates of travel. You guys know weather has to be a major consideration in route planning. When was this ride filmed? Keep them coming!
We did this ride in mid-September! We talk about best times to do the ride in the last episode as well as the blog 👊 You're going to love it up there!
Thanks for the quick response and the info. There was a reference to summer fires but the foliage had me thinking it was fall. Thanks again for all that RM does for riders.
God that reminds me of summer 2020 in Colorado. It is making me cough!
IDK compared to San Diego county fireroads? At least what I keep finding? Idaho looks like SMOOTH dirt freeway! I was on a palomar mountain truck trail this am and if is ROCKS and RUTS and gravel sections brutal hairpins! lol
i would love to do a ride with you guys.
Can we get a dry 125 review
So the 500 exc will need 3 or 4 oil changes during this trip. Every 15 hours per ktm recommends?
Heh Heh my son hates this BUT I LOVE IT
What time of year would you recommend it this trip be done?
What month and week of the year did you do this trip?
What ever happened to that guy who was buying up millions of acres in idaho "for his family" and closing off public access gates?
He's a well known asshole that's spending a fortune in lawyer fees....
Who had the smallest bike and what was it? I am thinking about getting the Kawasaki KLX 300 from your St George store. I went last week to get the KTM 890 but feel it is too big for me on stuff like Black Bear ETC.
At what point do you need to look at skidplates? I've been on gravel and dirt roads as my 890 adv stock and have had no issues so far.
If you plan on riding two-track or any dirt roads that don't get the grader going through on a regular basis, I would recommend an upgraded skid plate. If you are mostly on pavement or smooth roads, you might not need to. As far as off-roading goes, it only takes one rock in the wrong place to leave you stranded, so that's why we always upgrade ours. Plus, a better skid plate opens up the door to take your bike on more routes! Have fun and ride safe! -Charles
Does anyone know when they did this ride? Just curious, because I was planning on doing the IDBDR after Labor Day 2020 but canceled because of all the fires in Washington, Oregon, California and Idaho.
This ride took place in mid-September!
what are the communicators that you use?
We are currently using the Cardo Systems Scala Rider Packtalks and that gets you the DMC modes which is great for group riding. www.rockymountainatvmc.com/parts/cardo-systems-packtalk-bold-jbl-system-p - Wes
Why the new motor on the 690?
It was getting up there in miles and was feeling a little clappy. It was time to show it some love. - Wes
Please bring Chase on the next adventure.
Do you have the GPS track for this loop?
Yes, it's in our blog which is linked in the description!
There’s a typo in the title. You meant to say Ohio
Please change the title!!
Like the man says.....nothing to see here in Idaho...move along...
Idaho? You gonna seat bounce of a potato hahahah
Love your comradeship
And the fact your even able to spend time living,I'm almost 40 and married someone at a very early age that has completely rd ruined any chances of living or happiness, and after getting sent to prison for extorsion fir trying to leave 2 separate times and actually being in the house the prosecutor knock on their door, then begin coaching a 4 year old on how answer her questions on the stand, the whole thing was absolutely extorsion for profit from her family and conviction for profit regardless or wrong or right,so after my second sentence I've laid down and gave up no money or food or anything nothing inside since my last release basically, theres plenty more the short marriage is a ridiculous thing you do paying the system to acknowledge your relationship and even worse then now its 100 percent your lifes put of your control and the female you married by power of the courts has her way in life evil wrong bad diesnt matter, marriage is a very ignorant thing,
