Yes, Air India provided Onam special menu with payasam.In my experience air india provides the best food. Also Air Vistara. Earlier Kingfisher Airlines was also good.

Kingfisher was the best. When I travelled they served me noodles and I still remember the taste of it. Their service was outstanding.

There is APU (Auxiliary Power Unit) usually in the tail cone of the aircraft which generates electricity and on ground GPU (Ground Power Unit) is connected to the aircraft to keep the air-conditioning and for other requirements. Unused meals maybe used in the return segment of the flight.
Hii mam, in air power from engines are used for producing electricity not apu. For that engines having individual A/C generators, which is used to produce an alternate current of 115v. In ground may use APU or GPU, according to the ground time

Yes our taste buds gets dehydrated due to the dry air in the cabin. Usually while preparing extra ingredients are added.
