    Kids, don't put plastic directly onto an iron. That's how to ruin the iron. Always put parchment paper (not wax paper) between the iron and anything meltable.

      And for the “shrinkie dink” plastic from takeaway containers, they didn’t explain it but you need to make sure they’re made using plastic with #6 on them (you “can” use #5 at a pinch, but #6 is best) 0:07

    Inspired by watching your channel's repurposing plastic containers videos, and out of necessity, I made a colander to wash spinach using the plastic container it came in. I used a knife to poke into the container's bottom twisting right, left and in a circle at each poke. I could have used a Dremel craft drill with a small (1/8") bit as well.
    I then put spinach in a plastic produce bag, poured water in the bag to cover about 1/3 of the spinach, and then gently swirled the water about the leaves to clean any residual dirt. To drain the water from the bag and shake off as much as possible: I snipped holes in the seam area of the bag, the bottom, of the bag. Then, I held the bag up above my shoulder over the sink. After wiping off excess moisture, I poured the bag contents into the DIY colander and shook off remaining moisture.

      Hey you'll find that a lot of the produce that you get comes in a square or rectangular sometimes even large multihold clear container and I will take make a salad by tearing off pieces of lettuce or other dark green leafy vegetables baby carrots piece of onion small Tomatoes or large Tomatoes can even fit and anything else you want to add that can use a rinse sometimes I'll spray them with a little bit of soap water solution maybe a touch of bleach and then close the lid and then in the sink place the container and run the faucet over it so it can penetrate all the holes turning the container around and over sometimes depending on the items you might have to have it open and move them under the water to make sure you get all the soap off that usually only takes about 20 to 30 seconds and then you can put it inside your dish drainer turn it maybe once and a couple minutes later it's pretty much drained away the excess water

    Shrinky Dinks!!!! Wow! You can also make a glass cover with a cupcake paper and straw

    • @lyleg.9192
      @lyleg.9192 Před rokem

      Well if you save your plastic containers or at minimum the lids from sour cream and yogurt and similar containers you'll find that those tops fit a wide variety of other containers, cups and glasses. I took it a step further and when you flip them over you'll see these seemingly minuscule raised plastic lines that run perpendicular to the curved inner Edge that look to keep the top edge of the plastic container full of the product from actually touching the smooth and flat area of the containers lid. You can use a razor blade or sharpen to a point a flat screwdriver that you don't care about or broke the tip off of and run that around the Inside Edge of the lid and it will quickly pop off and leave flat and clean the plastic so that when you put it over a cup or something that has curled under Edge it will almost become water locking or liquid locking if that cup were to get knocked over or tilt too far. PS I forgot to mention taking drill up hole with a drill bit that's about 3/8 in to 5/16 into the lid some people will do it in the center I prefer to do it about halfway from the center to the circular Edge that way if you put a large chunk of ice and it's going to reside in the center of your cup wherever it can travel if it goes all the way to the bottom and your straw will hit that and not move it of course but if you put the straw hole closer to the edge that won't matter at all and you'll run into no issues with large pieces of ice or ice cubes that Bond to others

    Maybe some ideas with other plastic bottles besides water bottles and pop bottles like laundry soap bottles or bleach bottles??

    • @j._.taylor
      @j._.taylor Před 2 lety

      Both bleach and (conventional) laundry soap are extrordinarily toxic, so it's probably not a good idea to repurpose those containers.

    If you'll save your plastic cups( which are safer for you to drink out of versus the trend of having toxic coated paper drinking cups), including the typically thrown away plastic lid that snaps on and your straws they're easy to clean especially if you have many of them to clean at the same time which is the way I do it, wash them in a little better soapy water with a touch of bleach, rinse put inside your dish drainer and they can be used hundreds of times if you're careful with them. Occasionally you may want to hold one up to the light if you squeezed it too hard or it got the side pressed in by something to check for small cracks which are just small lines and typically does not arise until the cup has been around for over a year or two and been used probably over a hundred times. You can thank the lunatic ignorant leftist for places like McDonald's only carrying the unhealthy coated paper cups for sodas now. I still have some McDonald's plastic cups the white ones that have been used for 3 to 4 years and going strong now that is the epitome of recycling and we should all be doing it.
