  • Labour would put up taxes “as sure as night follows day”, Jeremy Hunt will warn on Friday as he sets out the Conservatives’ economic pitch ahead of the election.
During the address in central London, the Chancellor will accuse Sir Keir Starmer of using “playground politics” to disguise plans to hit families in the pocket so his big spending pledges can be funded.
Mr Hunt will point to taxes, jobs and welfare as three clear dividing lines between the Tories and Labour on the economy, and insist that he has a plan to boost growth by cutting taxes, creating jobs and cracking down on benefits.
It comes in a week where the Prime Minister fired the starting gun on the election campaign with a speech in which he warned that Labour presented a threat to the future security of the UK.

I'm being crippled by the Tory taxes plus Scotlands 1% more income tax. Plus the hiatus still from the disgraceful gas and electricity hike. Pat on the back Mr _unt.

All sounds good but it's not to help people. It's to make things worse. Believing is deceiving.

I found the questions being asked to be suspiciously softball, so I went through and paused each time a question was asked and looked up who the journalists were:
    Chris Hope - GB News
    Sam lister - Daily Express
    Jason Groves - Daily Mail
    Harry Horton - ITV
    Ryan Sabey - The Sun
    Steve Swinford - The Times
    Tim Stanley - The Telegraph
    Nick Robinson - BBC
    Darren McCaffrey - Sky
In fact the only journalist not staunchly right wing was Paul McNamara - Channel 4 News that had to barge his way in at the end and actually asked something challenging.
F**k me, he cant even look competent in a carefully curated, cherrypicked echo chamber.

Honestly, same. I think he actually gave a decent speech on why the tories have had a struggle to keep the economy well. Not the biggest fan of the tories, but it was a good shot at an honest rebuttal
