  • Spearfishing legend Rob Allen
Spearfishing would be very different today if it were not for one man. This next legend is Rob Allen the man who pretty much revolutionized the speargun. Rob never started out in the spearfishing industry. He worked in conservation as a Game Ranger. He was posted on a secluded stretch of beach on the Zululand coast and in his off time he went spearfishing. The Zululand coast is infamous for its clean water and big game fish. Rob soon realized that he would need to modify his equipment if he was going to land these powerful pelagic. The stories of Rob started to emerge about the gear that he was developing and taking massive fish with. Soon other spearfishermen started to discover the huge challenge of hunting in the blue. Rob’s guns were in demand and from these humble beginnings; the legend of Rob Allen began. Today Rob Allen’s gear is known all around the world. This is his story and a glimpse into the life of the man behind the speargun.

If it’s not broken why fix it
It’s the man behind the gun and not the gun behind the man
It comes down to your timing and accuracy
And when you pull that trigger at that moment !!!!

his guns are so outdated. we used similar guns 10-15 years ago maybe. how does he consider those "bluewater guns"? look at some wooden or carbon guns from Europe mister Rob Allen, you will be amazed! his gun is just a simple railgun with a plastic muzzle, plastic handle and no reverse trigger mechanism. this gun hasn't seen any improvement for years and the only improvement is done by a Greek company Meandros with the stainless steel reverse trigger mechanism.

Yet they work wonder on the fish, why complicate something which is proven and works?

David Bosse complicate? its not complicating things, its improving. technology is moving forward...maybe where he goes fishing they work wonders, in the Mediterranean you don't stand a chance with these type of guns.

Alex Sotirakis Hahaha the Mediterranean is way more overfished than South Africa. Have you even been to SA?

      you can use:
      -pathos laser open carbon
      -mvd
      -bleutec
or handmade wooden spearguns..i spearfish in the meditteranean for about 8 years..i have to tell you that rob allen guns are very good..you don t need carbon or wooden guns and expensive stuff...if you are a good fisherman you can catch fish even with a 90cm gun
