They have never received the recognition they deserve because the music industry is in the hands of corrupt capitalists who are obsessed with the bottom line and profits to the detriment of artistic quality and accomplishment. Tull fans are the bearers of a secret that one day will become known to the masses worldwide in a world freed from the necrotic grip of capitalism.
Sometimes one journalist writes down some ridiculous but memorable nonsense, so it gets stuck in people's heads and will be plagiarized forever. This surely happened in 1987.
Well, in just a quick listen one might get that impression. One more listen and you'll be aware of some musical intricatry and certain musicianship that gives away that this is on a higher level of musicianship than that of Dire Straits/Mark Knopfler. And I say this as a fan of Dire Straits.
