It always hurts my heart to hear Simu talk about how he didn't feel seen or like he belonged. He's brought it up during a couple of interviews and you can tell that it's something he's carried in his life. That feeling was a very real part of so many people's lives, it sticks with you.
I think it's beautiful that he has become a piece of the representation that child Simu and so many others should've had. I can't wait to watch this movie!
I felt like that too immigrating to the US in the 90's. I was 12 then. But....the funny is, while not really belong is sad, we have the control over our minds. We can find one thing, one place, or whatever, that makes us ours. One thing that gives us the feeling of belonging. While our circumstances can't change, we have the power to make it better, however slightly it may be. I was lonely and felt like I didn't belong, but I told myself I belong where I WANT TO BELONG and NO ONE could tell me otherwise. we all have the power inside. don't give your power to other people. :) Have a fantastic day
I hope that kids now are feeling like they belong, and that they’re worthy of praise too. We’ve come a long way but there’s still room for improvement ❤

The more I look at these and talk to people, I realize almost no girl was a "Barbie girl" somehow, of course they had Barbie's, or Barbie's were around and they played with them a bit... etc.
Barbie I now see like womanhood has historically come with shame, sadly.

I think it's terrible that the Barbie movie deals with issues like patriarchy, feminism, going to the gynecologist, or Barbie not being interested in Ken. I have been a Barbie fan since I was a child and for me she was a family doll. They distorted the history of Barbie. I expected a Barbie story that was more fantasy, adventure or romantic. I think Greta Gerwig should not have directed the movie because she distorted everything.
