I have a Hegel H590 and it will it will outperform any D'Agastino, that is in my opinion. Save yourself $5K U.S and spare Dan's "bling" unless you must have the "OOOZ and AAAHHSS" for nothing more than showmanship. Hegel is made for the audiophile Puritans who do not demand attention. Yes, it's for the minimalist and unappealing-just the way I like it. Two knobs, no flash, just refined sweet performance, need more? The Danes built a masterpiece, worth every penny.
Hegel is Norwegian, not made by Danes. My Vitus 025 is made in Denmark and whilst twice the price of a 590 it is also so much better. Some great gear coming out of Scandinavia
This integrated has a lot of nice functionality. I think its biggest competition is the Ayre AX-5 Twenty which is also an outstanding integrated. The Ayre is relative bargain compared to the Progression, though the Ayre is 125watts/channel.
It's interesting that so many people spend their time reading or listening to reviews of equipment for The Rich & Famous. Sounds like some of these people are motivated to devote their very lives to making enough money some day to afford equipment like that. I can't see devoting my life for a little cleaner treble. If I ever get to that point myself, maybe I'd be tempted, but I'd sure as hell make sure I couldn't get that kind of sound for a lot less. Looks like a fine piece of equipment for those who have arrived and who don't have to look at the prices on the menu.

The remote is hideous. Beautiful chassis and central rotary knob on the amp. Ugly faceplate and dials.
