Honestly it's refreshing and comforting to hear your experience as a skeptic in magical and spiritual practice. It's a facet of my personality and path that can make me feel quite isolated at times (though probably self-induced because it's just not something I feel comfortable talking about much when my main circles are full of either scientific, atheistic nihilists and hardcore theists/deists who believe fully in all the claires and vibrations and destiny...meanwhile, I'm over here like, "YES TO ALL OF IT, BUT ALSO NO, BUT VERY MUCH MAYBE" lol). I feel like coming from a very Christian background, and then subsequently having a lot of atheist friends as an adult, there's this part of me that feels like I'm "supposed" to be "sure" about "something", to the point I feel anxious and guilty at times, but really I feel like it's dishonest of me to say that I *know* anything, and even the things I "know" have exceptions, and that "truth" is ultimately a subjective and malleable concept.
I honestly wish that this level of agnosticism and/or skepticism was talked about more often in spiritual communities. I feel like a majority (in my experience) tend to lean more towards, if not fully subscribe to, theism/deism, or on the opposite end of things, atheism, and then there's all the other "woo" beliefs or lack thereof that can fit in between those identities that people feel very strongly about. I feel (much like bisexuality), agnosticism is often misunderstood and mis-characterized by those who don't really understand the experience of it. I want to clarify that I'm not meaning to give you a label you haven't yourself may not have openly subscribed to (to my knowledge), but what you described very much echos my own chaotic and skeptical spiritual wanderings as someone who, so far, can only identify myself as agnostic and has no other better term at this point to describe my spiritual path. When you said that you see your skepticism as both a cause for frustration at times, but also an asset, you hit the nail right on the head.

FUN and honest! I have always been a non-conformist. I love witchcraft, divination and all the things, but if I felt that I had to celebrate a wheel of the year or do some kind of ritual with every phase of the moon I would be exhausted and probably pissed off.

Uuuuu sir James! Juicy! Open and honest conversations are something that I wish would be out there more! Todays climate is so touchy that it mostly just makes my brain boil. I really hold you dear and I LOVED hearing things that we disagree to some degree! And also the ones that I agree with you.
For example I love working with the natural world and plants, sabbats have become a major highlights of my year etc. But I don't care the slightest that they don't mean the same thing to you. Do you get what I mean?
I agree to the eclectic thing on certain level. And I understood what you meant. I dislike the term Wicca 😅 BUT I'm really into the traditional initiatory Brittish witchcraft 🤣 so it's not the thing itself that I dislike but just the word. It carries negative vibes to me like certain names of people. Like who would wan't to be Karen these days in US.
This was great. I just kept on thinking that I wish I get to hear you do the same vidoe when you are 40! I'd love to hear your thoughts then. Remind me to remind you then. I'll be so old by then that I might forget to ask 😂🤣💚

I want to hear some of your unpopular opinions, I'm sure they are very exciting! And I will most definitely get back to you when I am 40; I'm sure you will have the sharpest memory ever and be in your prime with a lively magical practice 💖💖💖

well, we realize that the most important thing about being a witch is doing things one's own way.
by the way, i am not a green witch, i'm not a kitchen witch. i am not a fan of the wilderness (too much dirt, poop, and things that will kill you). i never cleanse my decks. i think that if one gives oneself a title, that's fine and it can be anything one wants it to be. "aclectic" could very easily mean that one has a lot of knowledge with regard to several paths. then, once fully versed, one can choose those aspects from various traditions which work for that person.

You have raised some good points here and like you there are many things I also don’t do. I don’t cleanse my tarot decks and neither do I cleanse my space prior to and after a reading. I do work with herbs to an extent but I can’t stand the smell of chamomile so I don’t work with it. I also don’t believe in ghosts or life after death but I am open to it, I just want proof and will look for a logical explanation. Because I am a tarot reader this seems to get to people so much and like you am a skeptic. Thanks for sharing this

I relate to your lavender situation! lol Chamomile makes my heart race. I almost passed out once. I had to lie down on the floor. People want to convince me it's relaxing. Hah! In fact, a friend once gave me chamomile tea without my knowledge because she was convinced I didn't know what I was talking about. After she saw the reaction, forever after at parties, she would yell out to people: Don't give her any tea!!! And I would say, I'm fine with tea--I just have to make sure there's no chamomile. lol

Check. I am studying the Ars Goetia with a view to demon invocation constrained by the Shemhamporash angels (modern version The Demons of Magick published by the Gallery of Magick). It's surprising how many limits I thought I had that I've brushed past.

I hear you on the herbs. We all must be mindful when sharing that not ALL witchy/spiritual peeps can be around them for multiple reasons. If I could suggest a video idea, I would love for you to share how you might 'relax', maybe spiritually, without the naturalist point. Like what do you put in baths, drink... 🌱
And then you spit on eclecticism!! 🤣 Right on. Let's dive, not put a name on it. There is, definitely, a "if you like then you should've put a name on it" Beyonce mindset going on!
Skepticism is so important to me. With blind faith having been rammed in the brain during childhood, I hold it in high regards. Always questioning! It helps me to form my path and keep me walking it!

I'm a big beviever in a 'you do you' philosophy in regard to practising spirituality. I really don't like putting titels on who I am or follow a bunch of set rules in this regard. I'm just who I am and I do what feels right for me. I would not want anyone else to do exactly as I do. That would not feel authentic. I do like hearing and reading about other people's practises because they can and do inspire me a lot. Somethimes I do something for a few months or even years but when it doesn't feel right anymore, I stop or change it. I also like the 'not knowing' in my spirituality. If I knew everything, I don't think I would need be here. That does make it hard for me to talk about about my spirituality with other people in my daily life because I get questions about what and why I do these things. Most I can say is ... I don't know, because it feels right to me, ... So I mostly just stay private about it. What does make it lonely at times . Very ineresting video. I also can't keep plants alive, get rashes from oils and am very sensitive to smell. I do like working with soundfrequenties at times. I do like the wheel of the year but kinda do my own thing with it. I feel very connected with the energy of the seasons but the exact dates of the Sabbats don't really matter to me. As long as it works for the person I thinkit's all good. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Lots of love 🙏🏻🍂

Do you go for numerology, the elements oder with the symbolic at a first point? What are your tipps and practices for diving deep with a deck ("wellknown" or new)? Oh yes - there's no one correct way but there are wrong ways. This applies to so much! In literature for example there's lots of different ways to read a metaphor correctly, but you could misinterpret it!
Also, I hear you on the nature thing. I am not really connected to animals and I'm not green fingered although I do like plants and use oils and herbs. But I have wondered whether I can be a "proper" witch if I'm not more connected with nature.
Oooh James the eclectic witch thing! 🔥 🙈 That's something for me to consider. I think I am skating around on the surface at times and don't claim any title. But I think I'm searching still. Maybe I always will be. But I hear you on that.

I think of us as having quite different practices but I definitely agree with you on a number of points / see some commonalities. Enjoyed hearing your thoughts as always.
I feel you re: plants -- I have allergies and I've reacted badly to so many things. Herbalism will never be my area. I work with tree symbolism (in learning ogham divination) but not with plants themselves really: my "nature based" path has always been way more "me getting outside" than it has ever been "me bringing the outdoors into my house." 🤣I do have a tiny veggie garden but I cannot say I have a green thumb either.
I don't think of myself as observing the 'wheel of the year' either. I do observe the changing seasons at solstice/equinox. For me they're not so much "magical workings" times as they are times to observe, appreciate, and realign myself with my environment. When others are celebrating Beltane, I'm celebrating May Day (with its international labour solidarity connotations).❤😊
