    +1 on the Paradigm. 6ft, 255 here with 10.5D shoe, Paradigm 6 did my first half, and I use the 7 for my long runs. Runner up contender, New Balance Rebel v4. Only 40 miles in but loving it.

      Both the Paradigm models are great shoes! We love the new Rebel V4 at the shop, more stable and wider for those with a BFF (Big Fat Foot).

    Great video. I will try the Hoka as it's the most acceptable from design standpoint. Wish all these cushioned shoes can have little better better design since they are not that cheap

      Thank you! Really appreciate it! The Gaviota is a great shoe, hope you enjoy it!

      @@RunMoore Surprised the Kayano 30 doesn't get raised in relation to Gaviota 5. I'm not the type who is concerned with supination, though. I never did well with rock-hard plastic chunks like "roll bars". Especially, when they'd include a lateral aspect. But, I'm liking some of these newer wide-based soles that may allow a bit of lateral bias, without any rocks.

    What are your thoughts on the New Balance M1540 compared to to those you listed? Thank you for your video and help!

    This big guy loves the Diadora Nucleo Equip excellent neutral cushion shoe that has been durable for me. I’ve recently scored a pair of New Balance 1080 v13’s that are surprising great cushion durable so far over 100 mi. In the past my foot never fit in NB but these are a completely different story. Wish I could love the Hoka but they hurt mid foot

    Great video! I overpronate and have Morton’s Neuroma. I have tried all of these except the Mizuno. Currently wearing Brooks Beast 20 and Gaviota 5. Have worn Beasts since version 14, the best version in my opinion. If Beasts had less drop and softer foam similar to V14 they would be perfect. I will try a pair of Beast 23 later this year.

    • @RunMoore
      @RunMoore  Před 4 měsíci

      Glad to hear you're liking the 20! The Mizuno is a great option if you are looking for a lower heel drop and softer foam. It has an 8mm drop compared to the Beast's 12mm. It also has Mizuno's Enerzy foam, which is softer than the DNA Loft foam.

    I tried the Ghost Max and ended up with a blister/friction on the side of my foot. Glycerin/Beast GTS are recommended to me by the Shoe Finder quiz. Based on this video, sounds like I should go with the Beast. I am around 285 pounds but my shoe size is only 8.5.

    Thanks for the great information. Which shoe would you suggest if your ankle hits the floor to the inside?

    • @RunMoore
      @RunMoore  Před 4 měsíci +1

      For severe overpronation, I would recommend the Brooks Beasts GTS 23. The Brooks Beast has lateral and medial support but has great support for those who overpronate. It is a little more medial support-focused than a few of the others. Hope this helps!

    What is definition of a big guy?😅😊

    Not certified when it comes to injury risk. Matterafact, the opposite is true according to research. ( Vincent et al., 2020 ) Heavier runners have been found to " dampen impact forces and control loading rates" better than lightweight runners. Researchers found out lightweight runners need more cushion than heavier runners when it comes to injury risk. I am 215 lbs. My body and legs feel more recovered and less aches and pains running in the Altra Escalante 2.5, barefoot feeling shoe, than running in a max cushion high stack shoe such as the Nike Invincible 2's.

      These are the shoes we found to work for the bigger guys in our customer base. They aren't looking for a designated running shoe but a plush, stable walking/standing shoe they can also run in. We have also found that the models we have listed fit deeper than some of our lighter-cushioned options. This is more beneficial to someone with larger volume feet. This isn't to say these are the only options for bigger guys, just the ones we find to work best. We have our fair share of bigger runners that love lighter models such as the Altra Escalante, Brooks Launch, and Hoka Rincon.

    What about those people who are heavy but don't have flat feet? I've often found that it is quite common that heavy set people that aren't flat footed tend to supinate much more than pronate. Would you still recommend a 'motion control' shoe?

    • @RunMoore
      @RunMoore  Před 4 měsíci

      Most of the options we mentioned have lateral support that helps with supination alongside pronation. We mainly chose the shoes we recommended because they are deeper and better fitted for people with a larger volume foot. If you don't need the support, a couple comparable options from the same brands would be the Altra Torin 7, Brooks Ghost Max, Hoka Bondi 8, and Mizuno Wave Sky 7.

    Can you suggest a good shoe for metatarsal issues ?

    • @RunMoore
      @RunMoore  Před 4 měsíci +1

      If you have metatarsal issues, we recommend trying a lower-drop shoe. Lowering the heel takes the pressure off the forefoot alleviating some of the pain in the metatarsal bones. A few options include the New Balance Vongo v6, Hoka Gaviota 5, and Altra Paradigm 7. Otherwise, we recommend an insert with a metatarsal pad, like the Aetrex L705 that we carry, to have a pad that alleviates the pressure.
