This scary ABANDONED house of crime was being watched by the police

- Built over 110 years ago this huge abandoned court house was used by magistrates for petty crime and to pass on the serious criminals to the crown! But this was a very scary explore as we were right under the police’s noses
Come with Matt and Andy as we head to the roof !!

Just googled old magistrates court Staffordshire and the article states that the cells were removed a few years ago, another brill explorethough lads,Matt, will you please stop dangling your extremities over high places it makes my legs go to jelly, oh and stop going through tunnels where a lump of wood is all that holding it up, other than that , I love watching the pair of you, Granny Linda 👍🐾🥰👍🐾🥰🎄 Merry Christmas to you both and I hope you and your families have the best time 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄
I live I this town .
I totally agree💞
The court dock is called the “dock” because it was an old 16th century term meaning “enclosure” or “small pen” and it was where the defendant was put. The dock is only used in criminal courts and not civil courts. You don’t always need to automatically go to a magistrates court. If the case is serious or the defendant pleads not guilty they will automatically fall under the crown court jurisdiction because it will need to be heard before a jury. It is then the crown who brings the proceedings against the defendant.
It's also about maritime law
It's my understanding from my recent degree studies that criminal cases do pass through magistrates though they are not always physically seen. The papers are passed through and a magistrate or panel will deem it appropriate for crown. Is that not the case?
Sounds legit
God my legs felt like jelly when you were both on the roof. I felt nervous watching. FairPlay to you both. Great video. Shame no cells perhaps they were removed. Thanks for sharing xx
I was soooo nervous when I saw the cameras. I could see it all over Andy's face. He was on edge. It was a fun and interesting experience. Again, I thank you for a great morning view. It got my day going on a good note.
My dad used to tell me story's about this place and the secret tunnel 😂🤘
I was a cop for 30 yrs!! Mags Court is for ‘free’ people who then get passed to Crown Court if the crime merits it. Sometimes if they get ‘remanded’ by the magistrates they call the cops who take them off to the police cells to await transport to prison. It would be a crown court that had cells as people get brought directly from prison to there. So hence no cells!! Any legal matters give us a bell!! Oh and the scales outside… are the Scales of Justice!! Sending regards Leasa (btw I have signed up to Patreon but missed a digit off my email so sadly I’m not getting any correspondence or confirmation of it!! Love ya x
Oh no! Are you still able to log in?
Spent many of days in those courts docks cells prisons etc.. and this one looks like one i may have had the pleasure of also... not big or clever but ive done more porridge than goldilocks lol. great explore lads
Yours is the only videos I actually watch the whole thing. You really know how to keep us interested. Thanks😊
Such beautiful woodworking!! Love seeing such historical places!!
“Family court rooms” ….for people that search abandoned houses and get caught😂
Magistrates are used for all cases either to hear the case or refer on to crown court. Magistrates have no jury, they instead have a panel of Magistrates acting as judges essentially. I remember how tight jury boxes are as both a chubber and a person who uses crutches to walk lol.
Criminal crown court is where you have a jury of peers. Crown courts are also used for matrimonial and some civil cases.
TAKE THE TIME, LOOK IT UP.

You need to put stickers in all the weird places you climb into!! Like that cool dome!!
Yea or stickers of where Matt farted at, "Matt farted here!" lol😝
Yes, leave your calling-card in the form of a cool sticker. Great idea!
It’s actually frowned upon in the proper urbex community to be fair.
In fact, there’s certain channels whereby they will actively peel other urbexers stickers off when found.
@@weedfreer Strange. I guess a signature should do then. I have seen it done, that's why I mentioned it. Besides, I think even they would agree they are not your "proper" urbexers as you put it. I mean, look where they go, how they get in, and actively hunted, or very likely. Then, they risk life and limb out on the top of this building where very few would go.THAT, to me, would be the point of placing a calling card, especially in the dome by the other names.
Like us… we used to do it back in the day… we don’t put them up anymore
They only have one cell in court hun if I remember correctly and you walked straight past that before when you went through the big metal door ❤❤
Brilliant video, as per usual, we so appreciate all you do for us, your fans!
Have a lovely Christmas guys!
I’m laughing so hard from Matt saying if we got stuck in here, what would we do call 999 and tell them you’re stuck right next door!! 😂😂. Matt called Andy “monkey boy” for the way he used a wall and shelves to divert stepping in the deep water. I get such a kick out of you two!! I love your adventures!! ❤❤❤
Great video love it when you are creeping around on edge
Such a beautiful old building, now look at the ones they build today?! I wonder what those camera's were linked up too if they were on and watching you but nobody came to nick you!! 😂😂
Excellent as usual. Love you guys. Thanks
howdy from Australia.... Wow, not the usual way of 'breaking the law and ending up in court' hehe. You two are so unpredictable. I could feel Andy's panic!! Now I am just worried the police will see this and arrest you 'after the fact'.... Gosh you two take some chances to bring us some great stories. It was absolutely fascinating to say the least, and incredibly interesting. I love the way you guys explore and try to make sense of history, and are honest if not sure of the answer to ask others or research it as soon as you can. I think you guys need to take wellies with you into some of these places.. but very inventive to use the shelving to keep you up and out of the water. See totally unpredictable. The camera's moving...now that was freaky but looks like they may have been moved by the spirits of old crims rather than as security of the old court hehe. Thank you again.. well done... awesome!!!
It was fascinating to watch, but they obviously had someone 'on the inside' with keys, because there's no way they would have got in there without breaking some very strong locks or set off alarms and then they REALLY would have had something to worry about if caught, but they kept right on exploring, even when they heard noises and cameras were moving!😂
A really interesting find, I wonder if the Sheffield courthouse is similar? Glad you didn't get caught! I bet that place has many stories to tell.
Again, another edge-of-your-seat explore! You guys! Fascinating history there, and I want t find out where they kept the prisoners, too! On to the comments, or Wikipedia or somewhere. Will report back if I find anything useful. Cheers!
Hiya
I may be wrong so please correct me if i am.
County Court used to be for divorces, maintenance etc.
Magistrates is for cases where the sentence is under 12 months in prison.
Crown court is for everything else.
You fellows are amazing. What adventures you have and as always, I'm thinking "watch out, be careful, don't get caught". Thanks for your fascinating programs guys.
Beautiful court room and inside is so gorgeous I'm fear of higher awesome video merry Christmas 🎅 🎄
Where I am from, Huge Courthouse, No cells. They took us to a seperate building. The Jailhouse!
As I say every week amazing video 😊

You guys are such rebels! Would the police next door not have allowed you two to explore with permission!!? I would have given you permission! You guys are always so respectful!
Amazing porthole windows
Love watching you guys great Explores very entertaining 👍
I am from the town that court is in. Offenders were transported in round the back. There were no proper cells. The middle building was the police station at one time then the third building was built which is the current police station. They all link in. Those cameras are apparently active still and the building is surveyed. Hope you smiled🤣.
Cant wait. When is the next live stream?
Hi Matt and Andy the old police station was behind the old court as you looked at the front of the building it was down the left hand side the cells were under the old police station I am from Burton on Trent love you guys
Ahhh brilliant
Great video
Love watching your videos you do a great job looking forward watching more
Ok, gotta get the 🍩 donuts ready. Whopeee, I enjoy y'all so much.
I DO enjoy the accidental paranormal that you guys get doing your explores, it happens rarely, but that's half the fun. It was the reason I found your channel on a paranormal channel ( I forget which). I also enjoy urban exploration on it's own as well! Thanks guys.
Nukes top 5 maybe ?
@@FINDERSBEEPERS
Slapped Ham?
😂😅
@@FINDERSBEEPERS Yes, Nukes top 5 sounds like the one! Thanks x
That looked like asbestos covering those pipes in that crawl space. The pipes covered with the white.
I used to live in a 1901 building in Toronto that had all the pipes covered in similar looking substance that was asbestos. Stay safe guys!
Can't wait!!! 🎉🥳
Super Video Guys, Hello FB Fans, Merry Christmas..! 🎄🎁💕🙋🏻♀️🦋🇺🇸
Dang that was a big place thanks for sharing
I lived in this area , the cells are in the police station next door , not saying how I know lol 😳
Another great video lads. If I don`t see Ya on beeper beef, or you aint locked up doing dodgy videos lol, have a great Christmas. 🎄🎁🙏🤪
you lads got some balls going up on that roof in the ice lol you nuts , and putting them lights on was great to see inside but with police next door that a big risk , and with andy popping up every now and then making you jump did bring a smile , you awesome explorer's and great channel
How it goes is once an arrest has been made and the suspects have been questioned they are either bailed pending further investigation, released without charge, or charged and remanded or charged and bailed to attend Magistrates Court usually the next day if it's not a weekend, if suspects are charged and remanded then they're taken to the court by the police, there they'll stand before 3 Magistrates and confirm their name, address and date of birth, the charge(s)are then read out and depending on the seriousness they're either dealt with there and then eg fined given some kind of order or remanded to stand trial at the Crown Court, Magistrates can also give short prison sentences usually for quite minor crimes they can't however deal with serious crimes like Murder manslaughter or terrorism

Hi boys fantastic video xxxxxx
Thanks!
Can't believe your were in my town, iv always wanted to see inside it lol
Argentina did win, so you were right about that!😂
From Mark 40:25 to about 40:27 an orb could be seen moving from left to right in that courtroom which has the dome that you guys were standing above.
There was also another court in station Street which is still there but is now converted into flats
I’ve got to say this, Andy reminds me of the actor who plays Jigsaw. And also jasper carot
A Magistrates Court has three Magistrates not one so two have to agree.
As for the holding area I would say it was between those heavy gates.. Go in from the Court side go out to the Police on the other side only spending minutes between the gates.
Too bad to see these beautiful buildings crumble
Spot on matt
👮♂️Freeze! Good luck
I've just spotted where you are lol, my home town
They would take them downstairs around the back to a Patty wagon outside and then bring them to jail
Even magistrates have tree judge's decision
Could the room that was a safe be a holding cell. Why would you have tiles in a safe.
Okay, we are planning a laaaaate dinner or eeeearly breakfast around you two! Having salmon fillets, baked potatoes and roasted veg! Don’t make me choke with anything scary! 😉☺️💕💕
Did you make it? I choked when they were gamboling along the outside edge above the street which, "isn't that far down"! lol
We did! And thank goodness we didn’t choke! Lol There were a few times, my stomach jumped ! One of those was the one you mentioned! Great video!!
Barack (O' Bama) woodwork? Do you mean Baroque??
Talking about sprouts…have you ever heard of kalettes?
They’re like frilly sprouts and you can eat them raw…they’re available year round too
Tasty as too
I don’t know, however, it makes sense to me that they’d take you down the stairs round the back of the glass dock, to the right, and then up into the bit between the two bared gates.
I would then say they’d be placed into transport from there…somewhere beyond the second gate.
Don’t treat the poor Andy that way he is a good person ☺️
my best ever better than anyone on you tube or telly put so much in loved your jourmey thanks so much for sharing you will make it big that as better than idiot abroad love to you both and family
Courts run under Admiralty laws, hence dock, Bail ,gate, laws of the sea being carried out on land.
Think a magistrates can give you about 18 month. And if your likely to get more you go crown
I'm wondering if there is an underground passageway from the prison to the court house. They could have kept the prisoners there. 26:45
The door you should have been able to get out without the plug, they have to let you in but you can always get out
Matt...did you piss on the courts from a great height or not...lol when left alone on the roof lol
My nails need trimming, this could be the video they need 🫣
lol
There probably were cells originally, but it's last use as a magistrates court is for civil cases, people who haven't paid a parking ticket, breaches of contract sort of things, so they have been removed. Having said that it has magistrates court on the plaque outside, so there never were cells in the first place. It's strange though, because they obviously held criminal cases there as well at some point, with that secure glassed in box in the main court.
All crown cases have to go thru magistrates first … so every murderer and rapist has to go there first
The old building had the police station in the same building but at the side n cells were under the court . Then thay built the new court n police station n closed the old court .then closed the new courts n the police station now isnt used . Thay take you to swadlincote or tamworth courts now . But the old cells in old court were down them stairs in court room were it was flooded . .
I think the police station was at the backorder the old court house
❤❤❤
The cells were removed . New court n cells next door at police
Theres no court in that town now
The old police station was built on what is the a car park directly behind the courthouse
Hi matt you love saying the word like 😂😀😂😂😂😀
Gotta be Yorkshire stone. The best in the world
Wait I think I seen this? Is this the same one where they find a tiny little room? The room with the old inmate records?
No, this one is different.

Is this the same place most haunted filmed at this year or last ?? 🤔
From my personal experience the cells are in the lowest level 😢
those cameras have inbuilt microphones they were watching you and having a giggle
Fantastic you two, check on your Facebook message xx
Matt what did u think u are doing hanging your legs over the side of that building especially when its slippery it really makes my blood run cold u are game as
I reckon the cells were in the police station, they went down, along the tunnel and into the station. No point having two sets of cells.
Yea but the courthouse is about 70 years older than the station
